Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

This season didn't break me, although it was tough going rounds 1-6.

Losing Cox and Darcy in this trade period might do it though.

what does losing Cox and Darcy look like.

Hamling re-signed for 2 years.

At least 3 first round draft picks coming through the doors.

McKercher/Watson types in…tall mid like Edwards.

you can tell we don't have a lot of much going on this November. Everything that could be said about Henry has been said at least once. We've even had a good fantasy about Hamling's worth, and now back to regular streaming worrying about losing our most important players.

AFL are really smart. They realise 10 teams supporters lose interest in September and a number of those teams are spending many years out of finals. So they have made the drafting and trading into something almost as exciting to keep the rest of us interested and engaged outside the H and A. Now they're even talking about mid-season trading to keep supporters of sh5t teams intrested just as they are beginning to realise once again their team's season is shot. Look at how up and about North fans are atm after another disasterous season and no hope for the future. Very impressive AFL, very impressive.

If I am honest, I'd chuck my toys out the cot in trade week and then get REAL excited pre and during the draft.

Then when we're 15th again next year, I'll chuck my toys out the cot until November again.

More then happy to dream, thinking hamling has any trade value isn’t dreaming it’s just dumb

Thinking I was talking about a trade at all is just bad comprehension. Joel is a free agent, if they pay him a million bucks to move the AFL give us the band one pick. Simple as that.

Only takes North being cash rich, stupid and desperate.

Haha as I say lay off the drugs, he’d be lucky to get average wage if he leaves, he’ll leave for me playing time.

I think you're going to be shocked to see the sort of offers key defenders are getting for 2024 onwards, especially one that isn't going to need a trade.

My preference is to keep everyone and sign Cox and Darcy to the end of the decade prior to Christmas, announce that at Christmas like the Serong contract and then marvel at Erasmus coming back to preseason looking like he has been swimming in a pool of testosterone and HGH.

Some will get overpaid no doubt but hamling won’t be one of them. Thanks for the Friday laugh tho

to be clear

Sean Darcy should sign a nice contract here and so should Cox…

However if either of them have said they want to go, this is the year to do it.
Port are loading up on backs so are out and Adelaide won’t be this low on the ladder again for a long time.

If North want Darcy we squeeze North when they have pick 2 and possibly pick 3 plus another one likely coming in. We also have the back up of Darcy being a FA next year.
rucks are also in short supply.

I highly doubt Cox, Darcy or Schultz will extend before Christmas. Lots of rumors of them contemplating going home so wouldn't be surprised if that is true. This is why I am harsh on JLo because if we miss finals again next year, you can bet we will lose a player or two because of it. Anyway, the golden rule is unless CTD confirms the rumor, than it ain't true

I'm not that big on Adelaide to be honest. Fogarty and Thilthorpe continue to tease without really stamping anything (I'd argue less than that for Thilthorpe, needs to show more) and their midfield is a whole heap of meh. Tex has done a whole heap of heavy lifting this year and I struggle to think of any other bottom 10 team that relies so much on someone so old.

I'm not sure they are the sure thing everyone thinks

won't be a problem. we'll be top 6 next year.

Walker had a career best year in his 15th season so it would be reasonable to assume that they will be 24 goals worse off next year from Walker just from his form reverting to his career average - but he has only kicked that number of goals or more three times not including this season and the latest was six years ago.

He had an absolutely amazing season. The odds on the same happening next year are so small.

I think they are looking for a midfielder still.
