Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Stubbs is getting some great publicity. I don't actually have an opinion on him but after some of those articles my brain is telling me he's a 'must have'.
I know they’ve been injured, but all these glowing reports on Stubbs and Lerong make you wonder why we drafted Emmett and Wagner. I just hope Walls got it right and they both show plenty when they get back on deck.

Serong to be drafted. Stubbs as mid season, due to mature age.
Be silly not to Rookie another KPF, develop them for Peel and see where it goes. Stubbs are just like so many small-medium forwards.

Amiss, Treacy, Draper, Kuek, Benning

Add the older guys like Taberner and Corbett and it's a fair few compared to most clubs. Even Sturt is an option even if undersized.

I'm concerned about the quality as I only really rate Amiss and Treacy though. Also think Draper will probably be a KPD. The last two will be delisted at year's end imo, although Kuek making me look silly is possible.

Not sure if we're desperate for any KPF tbh. Has to be a better prospect than the last couple of KPFs on our list.

Where they play for Peel is another issue for me. They'll develop best playing the role at WAFL level. If we play four KPFs at Peel or a guy who's good enough to play WAFL level is playing reserves it isn't helping anyone imo.

Sounds like Draper will have gone past Kuek (and Benning) by the start of the season. If we add Stubbs I think we're building some nice forward depth. I agree the big challenge is how much cream we have.

I think Knobel needs to be included in the potential forwards list given we don't need more rucks.

We are covered for running KPF’s but we are defo missing a true tall target man who operates 3.5-4 m above the ground , Tabs does all right owning the drop zone but he’s not much of a jump at the highest point type

Unless one of the rucks we drafted or Jacko surprises it going to hurt our chances this year and into the future , it’s all well and good to say move the ball quicker but it’s the AFL so you are doing a good job to do that without slitting your own throat

I honestly think Henry is likely someone we lose this year given the shenanigans Young was already trying last year. Would be amazing for it to be the other way around though and we get Kozi.

I don't see Henry being on our list in the next two years. I hope we give him opportunities to prove his worth but I am not convinced he has it.

Melbourne was looking at Henry prior to the draft and he has been in some of their merch before, but what does Melbourne get in spending as much in salary cap to retain Pickett and lure Henry that they wouldn't get just paying Pickett?

Makes me think that Colin Young was pushing to have Henry involved in the Jackson deal.

He's a difficult one, I think he has the talent to be a serious AFL player but there's a mental block stopping the game from properly slowing down and helping him make the right decisions. Prior to his horrific Peel finals (which was apparently due to injury - not sure I fully believe that but whatever), he showed a lot of growth I thought.

Could make a big difference to our team if he can figure it out

If there is talk of him requesting a trade then we should all hope for an All Australian year from him. I'd like to see the tyre kickers come out then to talk down his trade value. If he doesn't play much this year he should count himself lucky to get a three or four year offer elsewhere and should take it with both hands.

Frankly, if Liam does want out because it's too hard or he doesn't want to fight for his place (not saying that is necessarily the issue) then he can go.

Seems a waste because he has boatloads of talent but we have seen multiple occasions of us letting blokes go in a similar situation.

This is controversial based on the board sentiment but I think his 'flashy' talent outweighs his 'practical' talent. He can do trick shots at goals and pull off hard kicks but they don't always work out and he just gets destroyed in contested possessions. As long as he is on our list I will support him and back him in to cement a b22 spot.

His main issue is getting the ball enough. (His physicality levels for his type of player and development you can live with). When he gets the ball his decision-making and delivery are right up there.

He looked just fine at the scratchy Friday. Got a bit of the ball. His work rate at providing options was excellent. Contested work fine. Stepped around Freddy adroitly, then gapped him as he accelerated away. Dodged and weaved through close confines of a pack, went on a dashing run for some metres, bombed the disposal a bit from there, but was probably a bit fatigued at that stage of the game.

How are Kozi and Henry best mates? I wouldn't have thought they had crossed paths much?

As usual the nimrod Ralph is making no sense. Melbourne want to lock Pickett away ASAP (i.e. mid-season), and their secret weapon is something that could only happen at the end of the season? Right.

Laughable that Henry seems to be angling to leave freo already. Whether we like it or not Ralph is a mouthpiece for Youngs clients that want to leave, it’s been proven several times now. If he spends another season in the reserves here he’d probably be delisted anyway. Based on what we have seen so far from both, Pickett and Henry shouldn’t even be mentioned in the same sentence. It’s akin to comparing paddy dow to Andy Brayshaw!
