Mod notice after Mr Bob did a lot of annoying work in moving days of posts out of here. As we are heading into offseason, this thread is for 2023 list management only. Getting upset on previous trades can be taken to the vent thread. Lets keep this thread on track in the part of the year it's actually relevant

Tell me you know nothing about Freo without saying you know nothing about Freo - From the Dogs board in response to Daniels' Naughton piece:

"Reads like Freo are still sulking about Lobb"

Also, nothing extra on their board about it. Fair to say Ryan got some abuse from them though.

Using that nuffie doggie logic, we should expect them to chase Neale right? Sulking about Dunkley and all....

Watching show me the money 2

Liam H was on Colin Young's whiteboard....

He's gone I reckon.
I think the biggest factor will be if they are making show me the money 3. Colin needs a horse in that race regardless of what is best for the player. He will be trading someone and Henry will be an easy option.

A big season and it’ll probably just excite Colin that he’ll be a bigger trade.

I hope the show gets cancelled, don’t watch it people.

I went and had a read, most of them are pretty level-headed and fair - basically, they recognise that of course, Freo would try to go for a WA KPF, and that Ryan is probably right that Freo will, but also that Freo have absolutely no chance of making it happen.

It's just that Tian poster quoting opinion articles from July as fact who's a bit of a nuffie.

That July article was in response to salary cap management IIRC. That's what you get for reading headlines only.

Daniels doesn't have 100% strike rate (because nobody does) but its head in the sand to dismiss him I reckon. Easily the best WA journo along with Duff.

Which is exactly how most Freo posters see it now, but nevertheless people will get excited when someone of Naughton's ability gets linked.

Short of Cox or Darcy leaving I don't see where the capital comes from to pay for him when he's out of contract, let alone in contract.

Out of contract I think is a different story, as dumb as it is, there isn’t a player in the AFL you can’t get if you have 2 1sts available, even if both of them are predicted to be picks around 15 and your getting a 25 year old elite KPF.

I'd have Naughton so valuable that he's one of those players that is untradeable in contract. The only slight asterisk here is that Dogs are in the enviable positions where they seem to get to wake up and have a top 2 KPF fall into their lap out of thin air so they are basically the only club that can lose a Naughton and still be set for KPFs for a decade.

That, and the whole getting Lobb thing is interesting to me since Naughton, JUH, Lobb and Darcy in a forwardline sounds dumb but a Darcy as #1, JUH as #2 and Lobb as ruck/forward makes A LOT of sense

Naught wrong with moving someone to defence.

That's an insane lineup. Still premature as they all need to develop but I think Darcy will be the best KPF in 3 years time.

Amiss, Treacy, Draper, Kuek, Benning

Add the older guys like Taberner and Corbett and it's a fair few compared to most clubs. Even Sturt is an option even if undersized.

I'm concerned about the quality as I only really rate Amiss and Treacy though. Also think Draper will probably be a KPD. The last two will be delisted at year's end imo, although Kuek making me look silly is possible.

Not sure if we're desperate for any KPF tbh. Has to be a better prospect than the last couple of KPFs on our list.

Where they play for Peel is another issue for me. They'll develop best playing the role at WAFL level. If we play four KPFs at Peel or a guy who's good enough to play WAFL level is playing reserves it isn't helping anyone imo.
Thats not a bad list of Promising tall forwards to be honest.

Still I remember last seasons forward line... They were either 190cm or taller (Lobb, Taberner, traecy and Amiss) Or under 180cm and under ( Walters, Schulz, Switkowski and frederick).

Taberner is gonna be important. Losing Lobb in last years trade period sucked. Lobb and Taberner are the only blokes on our list that can play Full forward and lure another defender.

Taberner will be vital in 2023 and 2024. I still think we need one of ether Amiss or Traecy or both to be fully developed to become that next full forward or spear head when taberner is done.

I still have some hope For sam sturt to be fully fit. the bloke is 190cm and can play 2nd tall as a CHF or 3rd tall on a forward flank.

Josh Corbett could be a decent pick up. I hope he has that breakthough season or very good season like the last Gold coast player we picked up in Will Broadie.

I still think we should of drafted another KPD for depth. We got only Alex Pearce, Brennan cox and Joel Hamling as KPDs.

Sean Darcy is a very good ruckman. Hoping Benning or Knobel plays a dockers game or 2 in 2023 off the bench.

Our first pick in the draft was a KPD and the club has been using Draper as a defender in the preseason.

Please no Show me the money 3. The opening titles will have Colin Young in full cowboy mode, hat, boots, holster, gun with the theme of The Good, the Bad and The Ugly playing.

The club had to back Hamling in to be a good depth KPD if he was to still be on the list. Let’s face it if Hamling gets to say 80% of the player he was he’s probably the best defender in the AFL that’s outside his clubs best 22.

Yes we were playing a scratch match today but I thought I saw Hamling get beaten far too easily today tbh.

It might come back to bite us in hindsight but for me the list management decision makes sense.

I assume we’re talking mature aged depth because drafting a KPD with our top pick and getting another one as a Cat B is addressing the future.
