Not sure I'd be considering a franchise who have never finished above 12th as some sort of doyens of list management.

Cut by the Suns may very well be a badge of honour.
I think we've seen enough players over the past 2 or 3 years get cut by the Suns only to have career best years immediately after to know that Markov is probably the recruit of the year. AA HBF coming up.

I must admit I was surprised at the delisting, being a Suns member I saw a lot of him and thought he was great for the Suns. Then suddenly it seemed he fell out of favour and couldn't get back into the side. I think it started with a niggle but once fit he just wasn't getting a look in.

My first though was that there was something off-field that led to the dismissal, as as far as I could tell his form was well good enough to continue being picked by the Suns. They do have a few decent young HBF types - my boy Budarick (one of my favourite players, just hope his knee gets sorted ala Docherty), Weller, Lukosius, Lemmens, Powell and Farrar all run through there as well as a wingman or 2 who drop back at times so perhaps he was squeezed out in favour of the youth. Still a surprise, though.
They did have the list concessions enabling them a greater squad, which then needed to be (gradually) reduced. Mature guys probably in the gun, and there is always their S/C in question.

But Rory Atkins on a 4yr contract…

3 things regarding ZW injury:

1) Really feeling for Zac. I had a feeling that this year was going to be the year where he'd be out there most games with a truly breakout year at Blues. Get well Zac.

2) When it comes to SSP and possibly between Markov and Cincotta, I can see a case for either. At it's essence I see them as backup to our backup (and if Markov, also adding to VFL depth).

3) When it comes to whomever, in Austin I trust austin-theory-wwe.gif

Carrigan seems a likely type. Still at RFC VFL?
Nothing confirmed for 2023, possibly not.
I was a big fan of Carrigan in his draft year.

From memory I took him in our phantom draft in his underage year and maybe even a subsequent year, and was excited when his name started floating around last year around mid-season draft time.

Whilst he can seriously play, there's one major issue there and it will count him out - he's not been able to get any sort of continuity with his body.
He missed just about his entire u18 year with a major injury and whilst he was on Richmond's VFL list in 2022, I believe he barely played last year at any level.

Love the talent, but we absolutely cannot afford to be taking someone on right now who can't get on the park.
Compartment syndrome for 2 years, then whatever happened with Richmond in 2022.

I figured he was working his way into fitness at his second team? Can't find much of anything either, but it would of course be subject to a medical assessment.

Interesting if he does. I would think the opportunity is better with us and he has only been training with the pies since the Christmas break. But if we haven't committed to him and pies are offering him a spot he kind of has to take it.
It's a bit weird on face value. Collingwood have to move someone else over to their LTI by Monday to take him.

Might be that they have incurred a season ending injury to someone that they haven't announced yet?

Not taking Markov despite him training with us says that we weren't convinced. He'd have approached the club and told them the Pies want him to sign, and if he can't get guarantees from us he would sign with them (at least, one would assume!)

It also says that Collingwood's list is weaker than ours IMO

Whilst I wanted Markov, I think we've done our DD here and am happy to move past him

His first day of training with us was yesterday wasn't it?

I think you might be reading a bit much into it. We asked him to come trial. He gets an actual offer from the club he has been training with for a month. No brainer for him.

I suspect we would have signed him already if we knew there was competition but can understand why the club wanted to have a look to be sure given that didn't appear to be the case.
