Off the top of my head? Lachlan Carrigan.

Carrigan seems a likely type. Still at RFC VFL?

I was a big fan of Carrigan in his draft year.

From memory I took him in our phantom draft in his underage year and maybe even a subsequent year, and was excited when his name started floating around last year around mid-season draft time.

Whilst he can seriously play, there's one major issue there and it will count him out - he's not been able to get any sort of continuity with his body.
He missed just about his entire u18 year with a major injury and whilst he was on Richmond's VFL list in 2022, I believe he barely played last year at any level.

Love the talent, but we absolutely cannot afford to be taking someone on right now who can't get on the park.

Looks like it's down to Markov or Cincotta....

OMG OMG OMG ... I didn't know we were actually looking at Cincotta. Firmly on his bandwagon for a chance. I don't want to die wondering.

Wondering Jc Caylen GIF

Prefer Markov, has a couple more points of difference, namely elite speed and endurance and is a more attacking type that breaks lines

But wouldn't be displeased with Cincotta, as he still has some run and carry and would have more defensive consistency

Cincotta gets the ball, is not slow by any stretch, and has good disposal. His attack on the contest is formidable.

Cincotta is a great story. Plenty of adversity early. Everything geared to obtain his dream of becoming an AFL player. Been a rock in our reserves defence for a while now. His second tier form, at least the level of Markov’s. Doesn’t have that level of pace, but is no slouch.

Would be absolutely stoked if he gets the spot. At 26, his chances seemed forlorn, would be a great message to our seconds playing group.

I know the family very well and played footy with Lachie for a long time. They're massive Carlton supporters and I would absolutely love to see him get picked up, albeit rather unlikely.

Younger brother Kai (18) isn't expected to get drafted, but is one of the cleanest movers through traffic I have seen for a young bloke.

Actually, with Williams gone for the year and Boyd likely to be out until the 2nd half of the season, I would add both Markov and Cincotta

Markov has the speed and endurance to play on a wing

Could this be an option? Would Boyd need to go onto the LTI list also?

When we picked up Boyd a few seasons ago, I and many others were thinking, who dis, plucked from nowhere, the selection canned by supporters and experts, yet a lot now have Boyd as being a genuine option for our side and did so last year too.

I’d love for us to pull a surprise and go for someone that might come good, over someone who hasn’t at two clubs.

I believe anyone that is out for 10+ weeks, you can add another player to the list, but it's ambiguous as it stemmed from the old rookie rule.

That rookie player being elevated if a main list player was out for 10 weeks or more

Seems like we really want the like for like replacement who can play the role we had earmarked for Williams and free up Doc for the midfield. So the choice becomes between someone who has been around the environment and knows the system versus someone who has done it at AFL level for several seasons. No matter who we pick, they could be in the frame for round one.

Unless they've changed the rule over the past year, unfortunately it's season ending...would have been nice to grab both players but not to be.

"A club is eligible to select a Rookie Player during the SSP or MSRD as follows:
  • If a club has a rookie list spot available
  • If a player suffers a year-ending injury or retires, the player can be placed on the Inactive List and be replaced by an SSP or Mid-Season Draft Rookie Player."

Cheers BH

Strange isn't it, if we have 2 players that get injured the week of the bye, are out for the rest of the year, we can replace those players in the mid season draft

Liam Stocker would have been the obvious next man up for Williams.
One's a Lightening quick rebounding defender that is there to break lines and great kick. Stocker wasnt playing ones and couldnt run out that last final we played, having blown up during the 3rd quarter. Tough comparison.

Williams is elite when going. Not sure Stocker was ball park next man up let alone 'obvious'

Stocker was a hard nut but a long way off. We don't have a ready made replacement with Williams leg speed and disposal. Boyd would have been the likely next one up....

Going by your logic unless we have Zac Williams to replace Zac Williams it’s not going to be sufficient. Dumb logic.
What I am suggesting is that Stocker is a better option than Markov (twice moved on), Concotta (26 and yet to make an AFL list), or other options we might be investigating.
Know who I would rather have on the list to play half back.

I'd rather a player who plays to team rules and structures.

I think we've already got half back covered fairly well. Trying to select a new ready made Williams replacement, with Doc, Newman, Kemp, Plow, Cowen and hopefully Boyd in the second half of the season available (maybe Fog?) seems reactionary.
Prefer to give a new half forward an opportunity, which is an area I believe we are far more 'shakier' in. We've got Martin(tantalizing, but unreliable), Fisher (okay mid/fwd, but average dedicated fwd), Cunners(Christ, could be perfect if ever was consistently available), Philp???, Honey???(both unlikely) Kemp might be the best of them all?
