Our winning margin has dropped by 17% last 3 weeks! Work on it Voss!!

#Hard to fault our most complete game of footy for decades and most enjoyable month since I can remember post 95.
# First morning I have ever woke wanting to watch channel 9 footy show just to hear Kane Corned beef carry on like a 2 bob watch.
Loving vanilla more than ever right now!
Go Blues

We were amazing
Really enjoying the game style
Fast and through the corridor , taking the game on and lots and lots of pressure at the ball
Our lesser likes were a treat to watch
Fog, sos, mots and acres played their best games forbthe club
Gov and bot are back and kelpie and newman were awesome
Crippa played a massive second half, especially 4th qtr and CC is an incredible talent
Let's use next week and maybe put some guys on ice and focus on the pies and run home
H, fingers crossed, we need him to have any chance of being a serious threat.
Had he have stayed on we may have won by 80+
The list looks pretty good 5 weeks on and Vossy can coach
And cunners and Martin going very well
Lots of teams not looking forward to playing these blues

I thought TDK did some awesome things yesterday. He always has a great highlights package and yesterday it was his ferocious tackling that is etched in my memory.

However, the numbers say that statiscitcally he broke even with Lycett. TDK had a couple more touches, clearances & tackles, but he's finished with a lower hitout to advantage %, and Port (just) won clearances. Unless you are Max Gawn having 30 touches a game with huge influence around the ground, the primary measure of success for a tap ruckman is to impact clearance. We didn't get that impact from TDK yesterday.

I know TDK's still a work in progress.. but at this point in his career I would expect him to torch Lycett who has struggled to keep his spot at Port. And if that's not happening at clearance then he should be using his athleticism to punish a plodder like Lycett around the ground.
Gawn is definitely the benchmark ruckman in the league. Rucks need to be valued by a combination of

(a)salary.

(b) ability to be competitive at ruck contests(are hitouts to advantage more influenced by the midfielders skills?)

(c) pressure and marking around the ground.

(d) mobility and fitness

I'd prefer lots of (c) and (d) and less of (b)

Shaun Darcy is a classic example of too much (a) and (b) and dreadful (d)

5 weeks ago I wanted him out of the club. "goneski' was my exact wording.

Since then he invested in the team ethos, no more half hearted , one arm tackles. No more 'couldn't give a fig' attitude.

I sit corrected.

+1

Was unbelievable to watch his attack on the contest

Has anybody actually studied the draw? Anyone for a ladder prediction?
Before yesterday's results (and I had us beating Port), I had us missing the 8 by 2 points, presuming losses against the Pies and the Dees.

After the Saints capitulation vs GC, my predictions has us in by 2 points,. displacing STK, and still losing to Pies and Dees (but winning all the others).

Loved the game, and had the rare chance to be there.

Very even performance and loved the intensity, but I'm now clear why Dow hasn't been playing seniors. Too slow in decision making and execution and didn't handle pressure well enough. Maybe I'm being unfair, but while he did a couple of good things, some of the errors were concerning.
And they sell Carlton Draught in cans at Marvel!!

Dow was borderline electric in those congested contests… bearing in mind he’s barely played AFL footy recently. Only highlighted how ridiculous it is that we haven’t given him more game time imo.
I think he showed exactly why the MC have treated him the way they have.

He had 4 contested possessions, so a lot of his 15 possessions were not high pressure. Yet he was our second worst for disposal efficiency. He also laid 0 tackles. Watching him closely (as most would have) he just doesn't have a high level of intent to try and tackle.

Dow fights and scraps as hard as anyone when the ball is within reach. That split second of hesitation when he doesn't win the ball is what holds him back. It's fair to say he should be given time to adjust to the higher level, but you would think he would be desperate to show the coaches that he has worked on his known weaknesses.

We have 6-7 more percentage than * and Bulldogs, they play each other next week. We play West Coast. Should pass one of them into the 8 next week, on both more points and with better percentage.
Geelong Sydney & Richmond are the ones we need to worry about percentage along with us we’ve all drawn games…

Brilliant win by the club and it's hard to know where to start!

Absolutely love the way we came out in the both the third and fourth quarters and kicked multiple goals to snuff out any thoughts of a Port comeback.

SOS best game ever for the club.

Jesse Motlop has what it takes no doubt.

Cunningham a very intelligent footballer this guy really could be anything if he could just stay on the park.

Nic Newman another amazing game of football so good with his hands in close.

Blacres after a shaky start disposal wise has really hit his straps. Maybe it was the gameplan holding him back? Love him weaving through traffic and creating.

Jack Martin has taken his intensity to a whole new level. Has figured out that chasing, tackling and going hard for the ball keeps him in the game! Has re-energised our forwardline.

Weitering intercept marking has once again become the premiere full back of the comp. A few shakey turnovers early but still very solid.

Kemp getting better and better every week.

Dow great to see him get a run and was okay, I'd like to see him get a real go at it over the next few weeks. Gives us some breakaway speed from the stoppages. Needs to hit targets.

Happy to put my hand up now and say I had it wrong with Voss. It takes a quality coach to turn things around midseason, we were gone and now we are back. So he copped the criticism now he gains the plaudits. From deadman walking to messiah!

Can't wait for the next seven weeks of football.

It's better but yeah not great. Tbf, he seems to take the longer option more than hit up the short one.

In the end it won't matter, he won't be here next year. I do enjoy him getting a gig though, I just want him to do well after showing great character the last 12-24 months

Pretty sure he's got the sub role sown up at present which is a credit to him.

Reckon Paddy is playing nervously, quite different to his demeanour in the 2s.

He was changing his mind every possession he had last night, rather than playing off instinct.

A lot of pressure on him I reckon, to some degree self imposed.
