That's called maturity and experience.

Why we shouldn't write players off after one or two seasons.
Try 3 seasons and it doesn't mean all players are going to make the grade by giving them more time.
As i have said a million times i was his biggest fan but he hasn't improved from his first season IMO , still has the same faults he had back then

Dmac was a high draft pick, always had elite fitness.

Players like this need to be given a bit more time.

If he was pick 50, I doubt he would have been given the contract extension which he received.

In hindsight it was a very smart move by the club, one of our better ones of the last era.

I think that's a bit rough. He was actually best in his first run of games and went backwards. Last year he was medi- sub for a lot of games and when going back to Sandy always got promoted again. If you aren't playing seniors that's the closest you can get without making it in. If you were to be picking players to step up, he's in the right spot for it.

Bulldogs and collingwood streets in front of us and both playing finals. Saints to improve setting the table for 2024 but likely to slide back a place or two Imo.

Collingwood were fortunate with injuries last year. Of the 10 H&A games they were in that had a margin of 7 points or less, they won 9. They aren't repeating that run. Have a tougher draw compared to 2022. Bulldogs also have a tough draw and their outs are bigger than their ins I think.

Both with some really big gains Imo, I’ve been through both lists and the ins and outs. Dunkley is a loss but they picked up lobb, bruce is fit, Liam Jones again gives them good depth etc I can’t see them going backwards. Collingwood lost Grundy who barely played and picked up Mitchell, McStay, frampton who is really a big utility. I see those close games and finals as forged under pressure imo they’ll play finals again.

The saints could improve quite a bit and still slide a place or two. I expect a bit of settling in to a new game plan and the absence of king to cost us a game or two. I hear this talk of king being fit for round 1 but as a guy who’s done a shoulder I can tell you it has a mental impact as well. Even if he’s fit to go don’t expect much early, I expect we’ll be in no hurry to rush him back.

Anyway I’m not saying we can’t just that imo we won’t play finals but footy is a funny game and confidence is a wonderful thing.

I'm not sold on Pies or Tigers yet. They have both topped up hard and cohesion isn't always easy with masses of changes. Geelong are off a flag but **** they are old now. Hawkins 35 year old hamstrings can't hold on forever surely. 11 players over 30 and most of their stars in that range.

Fair call, they have got some good kids in tho. Ollie H. T. Bruhn, the bloke from GC and their first round pick. I won't be surprised if they are there abouts come finals.

I think they pay finals because their system is so good but don't think they are a favourite until we see where they are at with aged players. Probably a few injuries to over 30s off being a mid table side.

Last year Owens and Windhager’s VFL form was exceptional and Byrnes was pretty much matching them. I wouldn’t be giving up on him too quickly. He can look a bit rushed at times but other times he hits 35m left foot kicks to Max’s chest. Just needs more games IMO.

Due to injury Darragh Joyce will come into the Brisbane side to play St Kilda....

Max King will kick 13 goals.

That’s all true gringo. I think this will be a very interesting year because there are only a couple of easy beats.

2022 was an aberration. Find me another team that has posted 16 wins and 4th with that percentage. They aren't going to be the outlier and improve more than other teams in the off season. They'll drop, guarantee it. How far is the question.

They needed a key forward and picked up McStay, they needed another mid and picked up Mitchell. By any measure that’s an outstanding result. It will be interesting to watch and yes they stole some games last year which I wouldn’t back them to repeat. Despite that I still expect them to play finals, they played some good football and have improved there best 22.

Part of what made them hard to play on was their unconventional set up. It will be interesting to watch either way. Mitchell is very similar to how they played Crisp. Adams comes back in and then do they play with one less mid like DeGoey or even Daicos to accomodate him? McStay is good but he's no star. He's an upgrade on Cox but then who second rucks?

Pendelebury will be used elsewhere and DeGoey is still a burst mid so I don’t think it’s a problem. The ruck situation will be interesting, Cox is better than many think, he’s a smart player and incredibly awkward. They also traded for frampton, I have no idea what role they see him in but I suspect it’s as a defender.

I think they were very lucky in the draft as well so trading in a couple of mature players hasn‘t really hurt them. The big question mark for me is how do they transition away from Pendlebury and Sidebottom carrying the load. They also have two A grade guns who are injury prone in DeGoey and Moore. Like any team if your stars miss bid chunks you‘re going to struggle against the other good teams.

Pendles didn't do much on ball work in the last couple of seasons. They seem to be doing a Geelong and loading up for one last crack while Howe, Pendles, Sidearse etc are still playing.

DeGoey and Moore are both excellent players but JDG is going to play more forward to fit others in IMO. Might keep him on the park. He's very similar to Gresham and I reckon an injury free Gresh could have equal impact.
