Lol.
Yeah right
My 6, 8 and 13 do not give a f$#k about the who we draft. Only old men with too much time on their hands do.
My kids want to see us win. A winning culture builds long term success.
What good did all those number one picks do for Carlton?
A win does so much more for the culture and the overall buy in of players into clarko’s game plan.
lol.
We won round 1 after years of struggling to get that monkey off our backs.
And the we went and got round 2.
Then we disappeared for an entire year. I’m not as confident as others that a dead rubber to fill the spirits of under performers for a year will have any effect coming into the new year. Infact, none what’s so ever after what we’ve witnessed this year. I remember vividly Peter De Rauch asking me who’s number I wanted pressed on my jumper as a 6 year old. And when he got 11 pressed on it I never looked back. I think you’re underestimating the influence of good players have on the team and the young.

Exactly, I suggest you go down to an Auskick session at a local ground.

Just count the number of kids wearing Collingwood and Richmond jumpers....
Count how many are wearing North jumpers
?
I’ll take your word for it I’m not sure a middle aged man standing staring at the kids at 8.00am on a Saturday morning would be very well received.
Police Officer: What’s going on here sir?
Me: I’m counting the number of North Melbourne jumpers.
Police Officer: Sure you are, let’s talk about this back at the station shall we.

Fk I hope this ain’t right.

It’s not. Nobody knows anything because the club is a vault and there’s literally no point telegraphing an offer so far out before making it that it could potentially leak onto a footy forum, least of all one that requires another clubs involvement. There is no offer until it’s lodged and either accepted or declined and the thought process that the clubs are holding on to it for effect suits nobody else but the AFL.

Do you have kids? I assume by this post that you do not or they are long grown

My kids and the other kids I know are long over footy and focused on other things such as cricket and basketball.
They couldnt care less about the draft. Getting pick 1 means nothing to them. They though I was weird when a few years ago I celebrated getting the turncoat.

I think your kidding yourself if a kid boasts in the school years about how awesome their team is because they just landed pick 1. Kids want gratification. That comes through winning. Getting pick 1 is not a win as it represents that we got the wooden spoon. Perhaps many on here have come conditioned to ‘winning spoons’. Not me. I hope we never ever win one again and I hope we never ever see a pick 1 again.

That's definitely the narrative both clubs are putting out publicly
That’s because it’s true, they want more than we’re prepared to give. There’s fewer than 3 weeks until draft night so things can change but it’s certainly at a point now that it’s highly unlikely a trade gets done.

The fact that the Eagles are publicly saying not much separates Reid and McKercher says it all, that was their trump card if they do actually want McKercher over Reid they could have had us believe the opposite and instigated a trade.

Well glad to report completely opposite experience form my kid at age 17 was planning on trying out for school footy first 18 having never played before. Grew up playing union and other sports including one at a national level. Sadly an injury (other sport related) is preventing him to try out, but the school will give him an opportunity after squad selection once he's recovered. He was born overseas, never lived in Victoria, watches all the North games with me, and despite wins being few and far between since he took an interest, he gets just just as angry as I do at the umpires. BUT most impressive is his absolute disgust and hatred of JHF......the kid just understands loyalty and a team first mentality.

Winning culture isn’t achieved with one meaningless dead rubber. It’s achieved with players standing up when it counts when games are there for the taking. Hopefully next season it will come. But make no mistake - having Reid there would certainly help that

2 and 18 isn’t too bad.

I’d have no issues with offering 2, 18 and F1 for 1 and F2

Future picks don’t have the same value. As you can see every year, draft order looks very different on draft night compared to the original order after the season finishes. We can always get back into the first round and either way, we’d have to back ourselves to start moving up the ladder and our F1 should be around pick 4-6 range all going well, and if we can get Eagles F2 back, it could well be pick 21. I’d swap pick 6 for 21 if it means getting Reid

And if that’s a reasonable chance of being true (that they prefer McKercher), we should hold our nerve and our picks. 5 top 20 picks is the stuff of dreams.

How many Roos supporters at your workplaces..in our place with over 100 employees, only two of us!!
Over 200 here, granted know only half of that number. I'm still the only one from those I've met, majority are Geelong, Collingwood, Richmond and Carlton. Thankfully the only Ess supporter here; retired and thank **** for that 🤣 Still wear NM merch to work most days to fly the flag as a F U

I'm pretty confident having two of McKercher, Curtin and Duursma will help that also.

Future picks will have the same value next year as current picks have now. We finish bottom three again, highly likely, and it’s pick 1-3 we’ve added to this year‘s 2 and 18. The only way we trade back into having a first rounder at the top end - or even in that 4-6 range you are thinking - is trading out at least one of our most valuable players. It’s insane. The only way I’d have our F1 on the table is an exchange for Eagles F1. Wouldn’t consider trading a top 6 pick for 21 next year AS WELL AS 2 and 21 for 1 this year to get Reid instead of McKercher and the other highly ranked players those numbers represent.

Take your 69 sigma bullshit and GTFO.
Now that things have calmed down on this front, I admit that I agree about the typical application of 6 sigma (in several corporates where I've seen "black belt warriors" anyway) and as for Agile, just don't get me started.

On the other hand, a bit of IT investment is necessary. A former staff member where I used to work was an official statistician for North, along with her sister and father. I recall her saying that she was using a laptop borrowed from Mark Dawson to log player stats back in the day.

So essentially what you're saying is Pick 2 and F1 for Pick 1? If someone at our club agrees to that, they should be immediately marched out the door.

Whether you have an unhealthy Reid obsession or not, that is a disgusting deal!
