I still think this trade has merit.

Say we end up with pick 2 & 3. (McKay leaves). We promise GC that we won’t bid on Walter with 2.

Trade pick 3 & Future 3rd to GC for Flanders & 5.

Might not seem fair, but if GC get ahead of the Walter bid they essentially end up with an additional first rounder top 5 pick (for Flanders) that they would never have had.

They get Walter & McKercher/Duursma

We get:

Flanders
Pick 2: Reid/Curtin
Pick 5: Watson
I do have some faith after last year that North will be clear on who we want and will be ready to trade as long as we get those players, no matter what anyone else thinks.

not necessarily. If they don't want to be there, I don't want them there.

Maybe we're better off with someone like TT's character out of the joint.
l noticed yesterday before the start of the game when the players first formed a huddle prior to the game starting that TT was about 2-3 meters outside the group by himself with what looked like no intentions to join in until he did in the last few moments before the game started...It didnt look good..

Just watched it on the replay.

Nothing in it, imo.

I feel like we’ll let go of about 14 including Magoo. That leaves us having to bring in ten.

Five or six from the draft including Sanders, a couple of rookie picks and another two or three from trade/DFA.

If the new regime are any good they should be able find enough from that to take us forward.

Personally reckon it will be the other way around 2-3 draft and 5-6 trade

The problem with cutting up to 16 players in one hit is that you won't bring in 16 good players in one draft. Of course, we only get to replace 12 of them. We have to cut 4 without replacements due to the 2 long term injury top ups and the 2 additional listings we were granted as a concession last year. We may or may not keep that concession. But still, 12-14 selections in a draft is a lot when most of these selections would be passed over by every other club. We'd be taking on quite a few rookie list type players along with delisted free agents.
We won't get 12 but we may get 8 servicable players including some good long tern draftees. Then we delist in 2 years and go again with less players needing to go.
If we only delist enough to bring 8 on then we may only get 4-5 which isn't enough.
There's no loss when we already know the guys we're delisting are shit.

Flanders, Dow, Fisher, Clark and Stephens are the players we are targeting or just on a wish list? I saw an article about Stephens who might come over but no-one else. I would assume Clark is a near certainty to come to us after last year which IMO is a really good get. When McKay goes, I think we should target Hamling, Jonas, and Marchbank.

In order of likelihood I would go:

Stephens
Clark
...
Fisher
...
...
...
Flanders
Dow

So Flanders and Dow and to a lesser extend Fisher aren't coming to us IYO?

Said few months ago we should chase Duggan. Dangle something to WC before he leaves the sinking ship next year. Immediate upgrade defensively on ziebell or McDonald

I don't know how he's gone at VFL level this year, but the Dogs seem to have a logjam of talls, should we be targeting Jedd Busslinger who was highly touted last year?

Think we could get someone out of there, they have Croft still to come

Let’s also trade to the bulldogs for their two first rounders, they need to get ahead of a father some, and a future first pick swap. For pick 6, Or For our future first and third

It is a good problem to have, but I agree getting Reid and Curtin isn't as good as Reid, O'Sullivan and Watson.

WE ******* GOT PICK 1 BABY!
TRADE PICK 1 TO MELB FOR 3 FIRSTS AND TAKE MANY PICKS TO THE DRAFT!
Nah not for two late 1sts (Dees will be top 4 next year) and pick 4. We need elite talent if we give up Reid. Deal must have as many top 8 picks as possible given this draft has an elite 7 or 8. Would have to be a staggering offer to do it imo.
