Surely if just have access to match a bid on Sanders we are trading out ports first rounder?
Surely we would be all chips in for GC, trading out ports picn for it to get another top 10 pick and also using McKay comp to trade back with WCE So they grab curtin and we grab Watson and we get 3 and 20

Ok so a dream scenario would be -

Trade Ben Mckay compo pick 2 for Melbourne 5 and 15
Package up 16, 43, 53, 59, 75 for GC 4
Start of second round assistance from city hall
Sanders academy pre selection

We end up with Picks -
1, 4, 5, 15, 19 and Sanders.
Essentially 6 top 20 picks to set us up for the next 10 years.

Try and get an experienced key back or forward for a salary dump and find a youngish key position player from the state leagues.

Totally possible right??...
Take on Haynes salary dump and one of their first rounders likely 9

Melbourne are only trading up if they can get Reid, given we‘ll be taking him with pick 1 then I don’t think they do that trade.

From the Carlton board - your dream may come true Flawed Genius

"Silvagni -- was allegedly advised to go out and test his market value and then the club will present their offer to him. Similar to Dow likely to have gotten offers of more money and greater locally would have opportunity than what we can provide. Similar outcome expected, but obviously the pullb to remain at Carlton is considered stronger for natural reasons. Richmond, North and Hawthorn said to be the most interested."

team america vomit GIF

I’ve said it before, straight swap GC pick 4 with our future first. They don’t need it and we get a year ahead.

If we’re still drafting top 4 kids next year I’ll vomit.
Terry Wallace likes this.

I’m for it but they’re a good chance of rising a spot (or maybe two) this week so you’re moving past the real cream of the crop. Flip side if we had a season like Hawthorn it would be a huge growth year and the nature of this season gave them the natural pick 3.

If they hold their spot it’s probably because of the result on the weekend and we’re back wondering how to trade for Reid.

Players we’ve been linked to by the media, or by rumour:

Melican
Graham
Ralphsmith
Fisher
Stephens
Flanders (likely staying)
Ethan Phillips
Himmleburg
Liam Henry
Nick Haynes
Zac Reid (rumour from months back)
Tom Fullarton
Lohmann
Dow
I'm hoping there is something to the 👀 Themanbun made in reference to Georgiades.
Also, Twomey suggested D'Ambrosio might be of interest to North.

Having said all that, gee the last couple pages of the Liam Henry thread on the Freo board are worth a squiz. 👀 Indeed.

No idea of the poster's bona fides but the quote is:
"From what I've heard it's the Roos and its pretty much done that he's gone.
First pick in the preseason draft and all that so lucky if we get anything.

Finally. My plan to replace our (awful) duds with (slightly less awful) duds (who try harder than our duds) is coming to fruition

Gaze upon my works ye mighty and despair

I think that our path to trading for GCs pick is;
  • we have to match on Sanders
  • we either get something like 2024 pick 11 as part of draft assistance or a player like TT wants to go to GC (not saying thats happening before people get upset)

We then trade our Port pick and either Thomas or 2024 Pick 11 for GCs pick.

FYI the Henry post from the Freo board

From what I've heard it's the Roos and its pretty much done that he's gone.

First pick in the preseason draft and all that so lucky if we get anything. It would have been better if the Eagles stayed last and then we would have had some leverage over the Roos.

Another player lost when they start to hit their usefulness and is starting to be best 22.
