TBH id be fine with that.
Our small forward issue fixed with North taking Watson with pick 2.
I edited and added in Mahony, but absolutely that is the biggest glaring hole we have in the list (pending McKay movement). We may lack elite quality in the KPF front, but the small forward position is absolutely bare right now.

agreed but from all reports there's 1-2 good small forwards this coming draft. We should be aiming to get the best of the two in.
Take some talls with our other first rounders.

I think we’re probably looking at the below not being on the list next season.

Bonar
Turner
Howe
Hall
Edwards
Young
Lazarro
Spicer
Mahony
Cunnington
Agree with the above except that Lazzaro is contracted for 2024. I get the impression that the powers that be like Howe so maybe he'll get a 1 year extension. I think you could possibly add Perez to that list he's OOC and unfortunately hasn't done much, at this stage, to warrant another.

Quite right on Perez. That was an oversight - I think he’s in trouble.

Your point about Laz is well made. I just can’t see a future for him in the ones so he might be free to a good home.

An astonishing 18 players still without deals for next year. This somehow doesn't include Cunnington and Lazzaro who are signed for next year. We need to start churning some old blokes but the likes of Shiels, Greenwood, Goldstein and Ziebell have had good years and probably earnt one more. Howe keeps getting picked too and is ahead of the likes of Hall, Mahony, Young, Dawson, Bonar, Turner, Edwards for a list spot at a minimum (possibly even Perez and Spicer too) so he might somehow avoid the chop. Meaning we're only really churning Turner and Hall of the older guys. Such a mess, will be interesting to see if any harsh calls are made.

Don't reckon Shiels will go on, personally.

Has served his purpose and I think would probably rather be into the recruiting side full time in 2024.

I think Jack will get another year.

The club has mucked up the Cunnington situation. No good can come from Cunners playing out his last 30 odd career games in the VFL imo.

If they could switch the Ziebell and Cunnington contract situations, I think they would.

Hall, Bonar, Edwards, Young, Dawson, Turner all gone imo.

Tend to agree with all that. Are you keeping any of Howe, Mahony, Spicer, Free, Perez? Assume Goldy and Greenwood play on.

I think this highlights the list issue well.
We need to turn over a bunch of players who aren’t really adding anything, even as depth. Can’t see us trading multiple picks for pick one with this many spots to fill, if anything we should be getting as many top 25 picks as possible.

Howe - Delist (I think he will definitely get a year though...)
Mahony - Delist
Spicer - 1 year.
Free - 1 year
Perez - On the fence about him (He probably survives and gets 1 year purely for the volume of other delistings when you write them out, he has more scope for improvement than Mahony)

Goldy and Greenwood - 1 year rolling deals from this point.

Greenwood will be taking a big financial haircut from his previous deal.

Oh exactly right, if anything we need to be splitting our 3 first rounders (it will be 3, either compo or PP or both) for 4+ first rounders. Mind you, only media nuff-nuffs have said that we should package up picks for pick 1. Very few posters on here are proponents of it and certainly no one at North would be advocating it.

Be interesting the discussion with Cunnington and Jack. I personally would move them both on if possible as I think both don't fit what I see as the best structure for the defence or midfield, but not sure I see us making the hard call.

If I was to guess, Cunners will retire and Jack sign for 1 year.

If Watson fixes the small forward issue and Comben, Xerri and CCJ stay fit what is the glaring need on the list? I think it’s a another winger?

Outside runners with good running capacity and disposal. Either across half back or on the wings.

I still think we need a developing Key Forward and a developing key defender on the list too.

Josh Worrell. Gun. Will come at a price.

More small forwards. Watson helps but doesn't solve anything.

The best sides have 5-6 dynamic goal kickers. (Collingwood: Elliott, Johnson, Hill, Ginnivan, McCreery + Mids) (Brisbane: Cameron, Bailey, McCarthy, Rayner + Mids)

Sheezel and Zurhaar I think are definately two. Stephenson will be more than handy in a top side.

We probably need another 2-3 quality types. Hoping that Brayden George is one of those.

So Watson and 1 more imo.

We having glaring list holes in the following:

Key Backs
Key Forwards
Wingman
Small Forwards
General Defender

Those bagging McKay and wanting him gone - don’t cry when the afl only offer pick 19 as compo
I don’t want him gone, I want him to try to look like he is interested just ever so slightly. His efforts are appalling and unless there is a good reason he is shadow of his former self, then just show wearing the Nth guernsey means something for god sake!

Sam Flanders still putting up huge numbers in the VFL.

He might be one to watch at the end of the year, as he's OOC and probably coming home.

He was a diehard BFNAAK, I also know that he was our likely selection in 2019 had we not traded with Melbourne (Kosi Pickett @ #12) which we traded into their F1 (Tom Powell) selection.

He was high on our board in his draft year.

Not an absolutely pressing need, but he could be one to watch for a F2 as an example imo.

Horse's mouth - I got a blank almost agitated look from a club deal-maker when I asked (in 2020) about forgoing him when we did that deal.
