Good club Port. Go after players from a team that has been on the bottom of the ladder for 4 years. Will need Band 1 compo at min.

Just back on the Pick 6/Carlton Salary Dump exercise.

I think it is 100% worth a look at.

To potentially enter a draft with 2/3/6/17 is a ridiculous hand to hold.

I'd be looking at trading any of pick 6 and 17 for established players. Preferably key defenders.

You’d assume we’d have a shit load of cap space. That should be our trump card.

Yep. Opposite of what we need at the moment.
I just dont see how we go after any mature players this year with our draft hand other than FA. Then we'd be nuts to use FA 'IF' we get a first round compo for McKay. FA is on the cards only if McKay stays.

We'd be nuts to trade for a quality mature player when we're in dire need of a quality small forward when our pick will likely net WizWatson.

Mckay for round 1 comp or keep. So Curtin as a replacement or we keep. Then if we removed all the older guys on our list, we could field the following team which is more than capable in 24 and with a very high unknown ceiling. If we got Curtin then Logue and Corr can do most of the KDP work.

McDonald, Logue, Bergman
Thomas, Corr, Sheezel
Ford, LDU, Scott
Stevo, Comben, Curtis
Zurhaar, Larkey, Watson
Xerri, Simpkin, Wardlaw

Phiilips, CCJ, Powell, Goater, George, Taylor, Tucker, Curtin(?), Perez, Harvey, Archer, Dawson, Lazzaro, Edwards, Dury, Young and Free.

Given Goldie is happy to mentor and be back up he gets another plus if McKay goes it might be wise to give JZ another one perhaps at the cost of Perez who we rookie. I previously wanted to keep Spicer but with Watson and Jnr i accept he's likely gone unless he really shows something soon, if so a possible rookie spot is there. Young id rookie.

The point of highlighting the team is to show we have quality everywhere with huge upside and simply dont need to be trading for any mid ranged senior player types.

Realistically what would he cost? It’s been 3/4 years since he was averaging 23+ disposals and nearly a goal per game.
Saints would want an early second, but depends on the size of the contract and how desperate the Saints are.

3 and 17 for pick one, under the proviso that we dont take Curtin.
Then take Reid, Watson and Caddy.

I'm still taking Dow for nothing. Get his salary off Carlton books. Buy Dow, Williams & 6. McKay goes to Port, we either get a 1st PP or we force a trade.

#1 WCE
#2 NMFC (own)
#3 NMFC (PP)
#4 NMFC (McKay pick)
#5 HAW
#6 RICH
#7 GWS
#8 NMFC (Carlton)
#9-#18 Who cares
#19 NMFC (Port pick)

In: Dow (mid depth, potential improvement in new club), Williams (releases Goater/Bergman to a wing, replaces Hall long term if fit), Watson @2 (elite small forward), Edwards @3 (long term Goldstein replacement and cover for if Xerri ends up being no good) McKercher @4 (all round midfielder/wing jet), A.Reid @8 (either end KPP for development), Freijah @19 (HBF/wing hard running athlete)

Out: McKay, cash, #2, #3, #4, #8, #19, delistees

:Stern look
