All valid points.

Free vs Edwards is a difficult comparison. 24yo but has shown something vs 20yo and has shown very little.

Do we back the athletic potential in Edwards or go with the guy who could reasonably be expected to break even at AFL level purely based on physical size?

Both could be in trouble if another option creeps in via trade.

I do recall that re Drury but wonder if his size made him very speculative with more pressure to show something compelling to stay on. That said, if the other departures predicted came to be - he could get an extension as a rookie without much fuss.

No problem with Shiels or Howe playing on on tbh.

Fwiw I'd also field offers for Curtis Taylor who is OOC 2024. That would take it to 5x senior delistings.
What do you reckon we could get for Taylor and from who? I’d take a 3rd round pick and tbh any better than that would be wishful thinking…We could package him and Lazaro, do Carlton need a couple of young C graders maybe?

I'd like a 2nd rounder but agree 3rd round is probably best case scenario unless he came back into the side and really fired up. In which case you wouldn't want to trade him anymore.

Some people see a lot in him which is fair enough. He's one of the few who might hold some currency who doesn't fit our best 22 imo.

I'd actually keep Lazarro over him which probably puts me in the extreme minority.

I doubt we’re in the position to trade/delist any of our youngsters, we’re at the team building phase and it’ll be more important to keep them together to grow.
Seriously what’s the point of trading Powell, Laz or Curtis, when it might affect how Sheez and Wardlaw view the club.
If they’re putting up good numbers in the vfl and not quiet transitioning that to afl, that’s just training repetition and work rate.
The only ones you dump are the ones not putting in.

Agree I’d rather keep him - at worst he’s decent depth. Was tracking ok until he got Nobled - see also Mahony, Perez, Greenwood, possibly even Corr…

CT could easily be best 22 if a couple of changes were made, namely his realising that the gym exists to actually be used, and the coaching staff's realising that he shouldn't be allowed to stray from the forward half. So far neither of those things have happened and his value is at an all time low, so what's the point of turfing him.

It's no skin off our teeth to keep him on till the contract is up, and Lynch comes across as a savvy bloke, so maybe one day he'll play CT in the f50 permanently and CT can show the traits that made him one of the biggest hopes of 2020

Barrass would be an excellent McKay replacement. Probably cost the Port pick at least but would be worth it.

Ideal scenario: McKay leaves, we get a first round compo pick for him, trade Port's pick to the Eagles for Barrass and take picks 2 and 3 to the draft, take the 2 best kids and fill 2 list gaps i.e. small forward and KPF without weakening our defence in the process. Only question would be is Port's pick high enough to satisfy the Eagles?

We'd get nothing for Taylor. He's the 30th best player in one of the worst teams of all time.
i dont think it was a serious proposition, i read it as a sarcastic post about the age old addage that packaging up your spuds increases the value of them, sadly unlike real spuds (yes the potato kind) with journeymen they are a dime a dozen.

Kane Farrell is the Power half-back we should be going after. He has an absolute laser of a left peg. Pinpoint.

I wouldn’t mind looking at Duggan. 26, good numbers, FA next year, surely keen to jump off the sinking ship and return home to VIC. dangle a similar draft pick to WC this year (vs FA compo pick) to stem the bleeding now

I agree about this but I'd keep them both next year unless something irresistible was on the table.
