Nick Bryan showed excellent signs for the Bombers yesterday. Far better tap work than Xerri, laid some tackle and took some good grabs.

I daresay under the North Melbourne fitness regime he could lift his game time to around 65% and we’d have a real winner.

Edit: he’s OOC end 2023 and likely behind Draper for first spot. Would much rather invest in him than Grundy.

As did Baldwin.

Thought he was really good.

I'd definitely be offering him some contractual security if they recruit McKay.

Baldwin was great. He’s a beautiful kick and a smart footballer. Undersized but the game is moving towards that more and more. Positions himself well and has strong hands.

Honestly when I saw Bryan get beaten by Cooper Keogh in the VFL I was off him completely but he was admittedly very decent against us.

Yeah he’s number 26 right? Was always in the right spot for a spoil, good size and don’t waste a disposal.

Yet another gem found by the Bombers outside the draft.

Sorry to jump in here

Hawks interview went well, not in terms of it’s a lock to go there, but to say it didn’t go well isn’t correct

Hawks have been keen for 12 months and he nearly came across last period, hence the late grab of Stephens from Geelong
Maybe Jeff and his mate honest Phil could do a report on it.

To an extent.

Baldwin was one of the top prospects of the 2021 draft before doing his ACL in his top age year.

They gave him a chance when no one else did, and converted him to a defender. Their work in the SSP and mid-season draft should be commended - but their high draft picking has been average to dreadful over the last decade.

Can Butters play on the wing? We already have LDU, Wardlaw and Phillips in the middle.

Send Powell back home to Adelaide with our F2 and that should do it.
I heard we’re trying to talk Liam Anthony into moving to poorta loo but he won’t have anything to do with that cesspool

Hunter Clark for Xerri - straight swap
Who says no

Just so it's clear to everyone nobody is trading for Haynes cause they want HIM, the trade is a straight salary dump for a good pick. I'm sure it's important to Haynes that he is playing games at the club he gets traded too and even if he is regressing, our back 6 is going to need an old head back there with Bmac and JZ out, Logue ACL and Corr and Lmac barely AFL standard.

O’Sullivan would be right up there as one of the best key back prospects in this years draft. He’s a bigger boy and will likely play on the gorillas in the future. Curtin can just about play anywhere on the field.

Yep. Really want him with pick 3 and either Reid, Curtin or McKercher with pick 2.

I think he's referring to the Haynes salary dump but even that has been spoken about sparingly on here.

Is there another North board somewhere?
The one that lives in the heads of certain hawf posters that infest multiple north related threads on different boards.

A question to the experts about the GC pick 5 situation: are they after another salary dump trade similar to last year where they will try to offload a player along with the pick, or just the pick this time? If it's just the pick, given their three academy selections coming up and the state of their salary cap, I assume they will be after predominantly future picks. If so, in order to trump other clubs would it be beyond the realms of possibility to offer our future first in a swap for their future first as a centrepiece for the deal (with other picks changing hands etc)?

In my view, if we are serious about improving, we need to back ourselves to improve significantly next season and try to get out of the bottom 2-3 or even the bottom 4. That being the case we could back ourselves to finish around similar position as the Suns but they may think it represents value for them.

An extra top 5 pick this year would be extremely important to us in terms of our list build and I would seriously consider something like this to make it happen.

they mostly need points / the ability to trade back in for more points (depending on how draft night goes), it'll just be the pick from GC unless another club actively tries to include a player (IE Flanders)

They really need to reimplement the number of draft picks = number of spot on your list rule.

You shouldn’t be allowed to match a high bid with absolute garbage selections.

Would also allow academy prospects to be taken by non academy teams.

I thought that had been reinstated?
