In a couple of Brady interviews it was pretty clear that they saw Chom as a fwd. Think they may have said yes he could play back but that's not where they saw him going fwd

Viney didn't dismiss the idea and he recently went to a Collingwood game with Clarko and specifically watched Darcy Moore.

Who knows what Clarko has in mind. He'll be cooking.

I hate the way this is written, it is absolute garbage. Clarko is apparently begging, pleading and calling in favours to get someone to pay McKay enough for Band 1 compo?

Firstly, it is absolutely ridiculous to think any club would blow out their salary cap just as favour to Clarko, sure they might pay enough to avoid us matching and needing to trade, but just because Clarko begs and asks nicely, please!

Also, this whole narrative of us begging and pleading for everything is sh!thouse. We should be getting pick 2 as the first part an assistance package outside of any FA compo. The idea that we need to plead for it as FA compo and accept that is also forms some of our assistance is completely wrong and not how the system is supposedly set up.

Constantly painting us as desperate beggars, pleading for everything is so wrong, we are merely requesting a small fraction of the assistance we have seen nearly every other club receive in some form (to our detriment) over the years, but now we need it, suddenly we are begging.

Ralph is burning through his remaining goodwill at the club. Doubt we would feed anything more to him now.

Where do you get the idea that Clarko wants to play chom in the backline next year?! Think he is a great target uo forward to take a contested mark or bring to ground and hunt opp players in f50
Chat from within the club. Plus Clarko having Chom look at the way Darcy Moore plays and positions himself in a recent game they went to watch together in the flesh. FWIW I would rather have Chom play CHF. There is a school of thought that we should play Chom back because he is less likely to suffer an injury. Griffen Logue and Jeremy Howe say "Hi" to those people with that school of thought. :stern look

North Melbourne, which already has to trim its list down after the AFL's allowances last year, is due to start talks on an extension for ruckman Goldstein, while Geelong could also do similar with star forward Hawkins to get in an extra list position.

Players such as Liam Shiels would not be eligible as a veteran under the rule because although he has played at AFL level for 15 seasons, only this year has been at North.

It looks like we'll be getting an 2 game demo of how Melican goes as the main man in defence, unless Sydney can get this Tom McCartin suspension overturned.

LOL ffs.

Ben and Max King say hi to the idea that key forward don't get hurt as much.

But also said we weren't on the lookout for anymore KPF as we had comben and also talked up George aka sausage.... play comben back and we will be short up there.... I still think short even with comben given his record

It's a 360 sport. You can get injured in any position at any time. It is a nonsense to think that playing back will mean you are less likely to get injured. But that doesn't suit your deluded narrative now does it? :stern look

Anything could happen. As I mentioned, Clarko will be cooking something.

Todd Viney seemed to agree that back is less likely to lead to injury :stern look

Yes, that's what our experience with Robbie Tarrant teaches us.

Playing him back did nothing to get him back on the park playing regular footy after half his career injured as a forward lol.

Ha!

What would this "Todd Viney" dude know?

George must've grown alot?

Viney talks about Brayden George playing as a key forward here and references Richmond.

Their forward line in the 2017 grand final was...

HF: Lambert (178) - Martin (187) - Caddy (186)
FF: Butler (182) - Riewoldt (195) - Rioli (179)

I think that we could play...

HF: Ford/Thomas (189) - George (187) - Reid/Sheezel (185)
FF: Curtis (183) - Larkey (198) - Zurhaar (188)

Imo get the gun draft picks we've got clicking next year then go shopping for a ready made KPF for 2025 using our draft capital, which will still be very tasty.

Lot of guys would love the idea of our midfield kicking the ball their way.

Difference between the two forward lines, they thrived on chaos ball, Riewoldts job was to get the ball to ground and then let the smalls, tackle, hassle until they got a shot on goal.
We’d need minimum two fleet a foot smalls to make this strategy work. And it wasn’t out of shear luck we played our best football when we had spicer up and about getting a number of tackles in the forward line, gave a chance for our defenders to set up behind the ball. It’s a shame he offers very little scoreboard pressure.

I guess that's where drafting Watson would help out.
