I can see why I don’t read papers anymore, they fill columns with absolute garbage..

“Thomas has been linked with the Swans in the past” no he hasn’t..

“He has family connections in Sydney” ahhhh pretty sure most Australian’s have family living in various parts of the country..

“Sydney are tipped to be a big player in the trade period this year” so it’s a tip eh?.. did Kenny Callander or Johnny Tapp give you that winner??.

My god that column filler has more holes in it than a golf course..

Lol yes, there has to be a way for everyone else to get their man and North to downgrade their draft hand.
Converting pick 2 to 3 & 4 actually sounds good, depending on what else we have to give up. But you are right about the tone of the tweet, the priority is to satisfy other clubs wants, not what North want.

Yeah that isn’t too bad and likely what Ralph was thinking but I’m kinda assuming we’ll start with 2 & 3 when McKay nicks off.

But we are keen on Curtin and/or Reid. I don't see us downgrading and missing one of them.

Exactly.

West Coast need too choose.

If they want Curtin, they either take him and forego the premium on 1, or they sell him to us and accept that due to the nature the market this year, they won't get a huge premium on 1.

That said, they are sensible traders and so are we, we have a good record of working together as per last year.

2 and the Port pick gets it done imo.

Lmao is there a rule stopping them from just drafting the bloke they want with pick 1?
I really don't get this lol. If they want Curtain then they take him at 1. If they don't want to take Curtain at 1 then they take Reid there and North takes Curtain at 2. I suppose this all makes sense if North rates Reid as the number 1 and someone other than Curtain as 2, but is that actually accurate?

Yep, as simple as that really. When we're crying out for developing KPPs I would be disappointed if we threw away anything just to climb up one in the order, when it's highly likely that WCE would take Curtin at 1 anyway and we get the other guy at 2.

I've long been of this opinion too. I think we have to give up Ports pick and 2 to get 1. May get something back our way in the later rounds but that way WCE wins and North wouldn't have any hesitation to get Reid.
Each to their own, but I’m not doing it. On current places, you’re giving up 3600 points to get 3000, which takes us back to the generational talent eyewash.

points mean nothing unless you've got bids to match. we may end up matching bids on Sanders if that's the way the AFL decides to go with the assistance package, but that wouldn't be happening at pick 1 or 2 anyway.

WC pick 19 for 16 (from Port) or a bunch of picks that go along way to paying for Sanders.

And IF we lose McKay im more than happy to take Curtin and be done with it.
