At what cost? If we give up 3 high draft picks you could be getting him at the cost of MWM, Windy and Owens. Not that I’d be unhappy if he was on our list.
The 4 game kid is tracking well and would then have to go back to the 2s for most of the season. Yep Cordy is definitely replaceable and will be once Hayes is fit.
If Bens last name isn’t King would be still be going out of our way to get him?

I’d love a generational key forward in tandem with Max. Ben is literally the next best option outside of Max in their age bracket IMO.

I love Hammer and Hayes but they’ve played what? 10ish games between them so far? Wouldn’t hedge bets on them yet.

You are right tho, the house needs to be in order before we go over the luxury of Ben King. I think the clubs on the right path though, drafting very well on paper.

Doubt he'd cost 3 high draft picks. That would be just about the biggest deal ever done

Geelong have up 3 firsts for for Cameron, but they also had 2 2nds coming back and there wasn't a lot between the first round picks and the seconds.

Well they are saying they are looking at De Koning at Carlton and they would be around the same cost wise - He is not going to be 3 draft picks.
They are looking for a skilled good tall - we have a bunch on our list now - Heath , Keeler , Van Es , Hammer - but who knows what the future holds for them - but with our current list getting a De Koning or A Ben King might just give us the edge to get where we want to go now , not in another 3 or 4 years.

Anyway I will leave it to the experts at the club , they seem to have us heading in the right direction atm.

I hope any interest we've had in DeKoning has cooled

Strange how much hype the dude gets

I'd be happy to pick him up for the right price, I just don't think Carlton would trade him for "the right price". But then again, after they played the PSD card with Jack Martin/GC, I hope someone ****s them over in a trade for him lol.

Yeah, you'd want him cheap and I can't imagine the Blues giving him away just because of the hype

I wouldn't give any more than a 2nd rounder and even then, I'm not sure how he'd fit into the side as he's not much of a threat forward.

Funny all this De Koning to St Kilda talk and the Blues now decide to managingly rest him for our clash 🤔

If our second rounder stays somewhere in the 30's I'd part with that for him purely on value, I just don't know if he'd fit into our team given we're basing our gameplan on pressure and workrate, not sure we could do that with 2 rucks in the team. We'd have to bank on him or Ro being able to execute a super mobile tall role, like Blicavz. He's got the athleticism and forward craft.

Think that he’d agreed to extend for two years. Maybe hasn’t yet been made official.

I think RTB has shown he doesnt want to play 2 x ruckman, so TDK would be fighting Marshall for the key role. I believe Caminiti and/or Hayes are the perfect options to pinch hit in the ruck. Plus we will have Keeler coming through who could be anything. Having said that we definitely need another ready to play ruckman on the list, but I think TDK would only leave for big $$$ and I dont feel that is the right way to go with our list build.

Hopefully we can find another ruckman cheaper than what Carlton would be asking? Otherwise I wouldnt be unhappy with keeping Campbell on the list as he is excellent for the kids in the VFL. Then drafting another young ruckman (preferably a mobile ruckman) and hoping Heath can continue to progress as he has. Heath could be playing now if he had a tank, although I am confident he will be a very good AFL player but he is still developing.

TDK was supposed to have signed on for a few more years.

The club (Gubby Allan) has obviously already been looking at players from Brisbane & Gold Coast. The way their VFL teams are going they both have lots of depth. It will depend how the season plays out with our listed players, but I wouldnt be surprised if we are looking for some bargains not getting their chances at AFL level.

Ben King or Noah Anderson would be dream recruits and if GCS season continues the way they have started there might be some disgruntled players wanting out. Earlier someone mentioned we were looking at Ben Ainsworth, if he can go through the midfield he might be a reasonable option. Plays in a very similiar fashion to Gresham, but with better kicking skills.

We are chasing another ruckman

By all accounts we have the cap to pick up a very good player - and with Gubby Allan , Sos they will be attempting to pick up I would say a couple big named players - contracted or not.
I would not be surprised if they a salary cap dumps - GWS again would be under the pump with a few other teams - they are saying Carlton needs to move on a player or 2 to fit in Tom DeKoning's next contract and teams like the Tigers and Melbourne are busting at the seams.

Neddy Flanders would be my pick.

While some trades can absolutely be the making of a team (Jordan dawson), I'd would say that most of the time the really big name moves tend to work out better for the team that the player left.
A bad trade can set clubs back years. For that reason, I would only target free agents. Or young kids interstate who aren't getting game time.
Giving away multiple first round picks is so dangerous

Plus they didn't throw the kitchen sink for Dawson. Got him for a late first I think. Closer to our trade for Steele than the two firsts (and something back) for all the superstar mids you see going
