Draper with not quite the game you’d expect from him, but you can tell he’s trying to use his athleticism to his advantage

Bradley would be one I’d like looking at if we can trade back into the second/third round after the Welsh bid

Some real talent at ground level
Funny thing I think SA's best small forward prospect is Benny Barrett who was only made an emergency for today...also a Port NGA so hopefully he gets taken b4 pick 40. LOL

Massive area of need for us as well IMO, especially if we keep Rankine in the midfield and hopefully start to develop Rachelle in the midfield as well

Wasn’t the concern with him was that he was a tweener? Not quite KPP size but didn’t have the pace/athleticism for a 3rd tall/medium forward
I don't think the pace is an issue. Maybe height.194cm. He is a great mark. I see some Charlie Curnow traits about his game.

Sid was solid but not spectacular in his first champs outing for 2024. My guess is that he's still searching for match fitness and form after his long injury layoff - he had a strong opening half before fading out of the game and there was a lot of hands on head or knees sucking in the big ones in the second half. His defensive efforts in particular we poor at times.

Your guess would be right played 2 games since September, he’s going to need some more game minutes for full fitness.

How many over-agers does SA have playing in the championships?

Have we always been allowed to do this?
Yes, always been allowed but generally it's players that have shown way above average talent but missed a stack of footy over the previous year or two generally through injury. i/e. Noah Howes back stress fractures and busted Collarbone.
Alex Dodson would have probably led the SA U18's ruck on the weekend but I believe he's currently away in the USA representing the Australian National team in basketball.

Another solid performance from one of SA's deep contingent of midfielders. Hargrave is coming off a promising bottom age campaign where he was named MVP of the SANFL U18s competition. He's tough and strong in the contest as well as tidy and clever with his disposal.

Full ranking points: Blues father-sons, potential No.1 pick, Suns academy product shine for SA as National Champs kick off

Adelaide Crows father-son prospect Tyler Welsh booted three goals in SA’s national carnival opener – but he was upstaged by a kid who’s just turned 17. Get all the intel and exclusive stats.
A Gold Coast Suns Academy ace, a pair of Carlton father-son prospects and a potential No. 1 draft pick for 2025 were among the standout performers in the opening match of the AFL under-18 national championships on Sunday.
South Australia took the points against the Allies at Thebarton Oval, 13.9 (87) to 11.9 (75).

Scores were level at three-quarter time, before two final-term goals from Adelaide father-son prospect Tyler Welsh helped the home side across the line.

AFL Draft 2025: Talent Ambassador Kevin Sheehan reveals and rates his top 25 prospects for next year

Welsh – the son of former Crows hero Scott – finished with three goals from six disposals and two marks.

However, it was a bottom-age player who shone brightest for South Australia.

Tough inside midfielder Dyson Sharp – who is not draft eligible until 2025 – racked up 25 disposals, five marks, nine clearances, seven tackles and six score involvements.
The performance saw Sharp finish as the top-ranked player on the ground with a mammoth 167 SuperCoach ranking points.

Twins Ben Camporeale (27 disposals, five clearances) and Lucas Camporeale (23 disposals, five marks) were also both impressive for South Australia.

The Glenelg products are the sons of Carlton 1995 premiership player Scott Camporeale and are both eligible to be father-son selections for the Blues this year.
For the Allies, Gold Coast Suns Academy star Leo Lombard led the way through the midfield with 27 disposals, seven clearances, five tackles and one goal for a total of 140 ranking points.

Brisbane Lions Academy member Sam Marshall was also prolific with 29 disposals, seven marks, four clearances and six score involvements for 146 ranking points.

The Allies face Western Australia in the second match of the tournament at Blacktown on Sunday, with South Australia’s next match coming against Vic Country on June 9.
