Injury 2024 Injury Report/Updates

Sounds like they’re at pains to say that McStay’s rehab protocol is going to be similar to Goldsack’s in 2018… i.e. timelines are irrelevant as long as he’s hitting his benchmarks.

Paves the way for a return during the season.

Don’t expect him to be put on the LTI list.

Forward Nathan Kreuger has completed his rehab program in his recovery from the hamstring injury he suffered during the pre-season. The 24-year-old has cleared gym and running-based markers, and pending he clears match play at training this week, he will be available for selection.

Young Ruck Oscar Steene continues to make his way through the 12-step concussion protocols after suffering concussion from a head knock during a VFL pre-season game.

The 20-year-old has partaken in non-contact, team training and is expected to continue to progress each step of the protocol over the coming weeks.

Last year’s draft pick 25 Harry DeMattia is making steady progress in his recovery from a finger injury that saw him miss the end of the pre-season and start of the season. The 18-year-old has returned to some football drills, with tackling and building grip strength the key markers in the next stage of his recovery.

Supplementary Selection Period signing Josh Eyre has reached the halfway point in his rehab from a hamstring injury. The 199cm defender will look to ramp up his running speed after completing a large volume of running over the past weeks. The 21-year-old remains a number of weeks away from being involved in team training, and at least four weeks away from making a return.

Defender Nathan Murphy
continues to work on his confidence in his return from concussion, as he completes a number of indoor and outdoor sessions with the focus of returning to contact and match play.

Key forward Dan McStay is now four and half months post-surgery on his ACL and has been able to reach a number of key milestones within that time.

McStay is now at the stage where he can begin getting involved in some of the low-level football drills, including easy kick and move drills that don’t feature a large amount of change of direction and agility.

If we can get a fit McStay back say 6 weeks out from finals time that would be huge! Assuming we get there that is. Is it even possible to get back that fast from an ACL or is the club just dangling the carrot out there??

You can come back from an ACL in 9 months. That would put him late aug. Can he do it in less time? Unsure. First week of finals, but wouldn't have any match fitness. There lies the risk, and could be an elimination final.

Scans have confirmed Scott Pendlebury sustained a rib fracture during the second quarter of Sunday’s Gather Round match.

The 388-gamer will be monitored across Collingwood’s bye week and will be assessed to determine his availability for the Magpies’ Round Six clash against Port Adelaide. A further update will be provided next week.
Nathan Kreuger has suffered a setback in his return and is set to miss a further two to four weeks. The 24-year-old had been cleared to play after recovering from the hamstring injury he sustained during pre-season but suffered a minor calf strain during training last week that will delay his return.

Young ruck Oscar Steene is progressing through the concussion protocols as recovers from a knock to the face in pre-season. The 20-year-old will be assessed for contact training early this week and will likely be available for selection in Collingwood’s VFL clash against Carlton on Sunday.

Nathan Murphy (concussion), Harry DeMattia (finger), Josh Eyre (hamstring) and Dan McStay (knee) are all continuing to progress through their individual rehabilitation plans across the Club’s AFL Bye week.

Bad news for Krueger, hard to see him getting a game this year and beyond.

As for Pendles, it has to be doubtful for him to be right for Port. Maybe give him the extra week to be ready for what could be his final Anzac game.

Jesus. What can you say about Krueger. The poor bloke, it would be so mentally draining for him. But some people’s bodies are just different. He makes Ben Reid look like crisp

Honestly, you couldn't write a tragedy with more twists and turns for the worse than Nathan's football life. Not much chance he is going to play McStay's role, and he was the only one who (in theory) looked remotely capable of filling his spot.

Yes it's unfortunate as he has the right physicality and mentality.
Is also arguably our most athletic KP tall.

But not the body to hold up to the riggors.

Can we just Put Kreuger on the LTI and bring Sofronidis onto the senior list for f**k’s sake

Then delist Kreugs at years end.

He’s clearly never going to get his body right

Kreugs is unfortunately turning into a list clogger.
