“Concern” is where anyone without specific, confidential information on Murphy’s condition should sit.

If it makes you feel any better, a few concussions does not appear to significantly increase your likelihood of CTE.
Unfortunately, I was a boxer and played a lot of footy.

Maybe see about getting your brain tested for CTE?

Swipey knows there’s no test for CTE in living patients. However if you are concerned, then getting a referral to be assessed by a specialist for degenerative neurological disorders is a worthwhile exercise.

He needs a referral to see Dr Kappa!

At least it would stop the worrying.

Well, it IS preseason, so we have to fill the unbearable, interminable hours between training sessions some how.
It may be slightly more constructive than pulling out belly button fluff with tweezers.

At my age, I stopped those activities 30 years ago

well its good to hear that you've given up all physical activity that might attract head knocks.....and all relationships that might cause you mental anguish...

and that your sole purpose is to eat sleep and post on bf.... your brain will be in first class shape...

I've posted this before. Murphy's personal account of his travails.
It's very sobering - if he was my family member I'd have advised him to retire.

I read that as how he responds to a nasty concussion, rather than being his ongoing day-to-day symptoms. Worrisome, though, undoubtedly.

I think the family would be deeply concerned about him going on. Murph looks like he's following the medical advice but if he were my sibling, I'd be really worried

I myself thought Nathan should retire but you cannot make people do what they want to do, just support him at the time and afterwards if god forbid anything does go wrong.

I have only had 1 experience of concussion myself but it was good one and I could not imagine getting it 8 or 9 times.About 10 years back while out jogging at 4.00 am I tried to jump over a 3 ft traffic isle and came a cropper and I was lucky it was a sunday morning and there were car full of police officers nearby.

When it happened I got back to my feet but thought god that was a hard knock but when I woke up the officers were around me and the police car was parked in the middle of the road protecting me. Never have I been so lucky, great officers who rush to my aid and got me to Redcliffe hos safely,I ended up with 4 fractures below the socket and 1 in the skull above the eye socket. It took me weeks to get over it and I looked like I was hit by a bus and probably that is what would happened had I not had luck on my side.

I could not imagine getting 10 concussions and still going on but if anyone deserves more success then N Murphy does but going by my own concussion I reserve the right to still worry that he has chosen the right path, but go Nathan and go the Pies.

If you add velocity and weight of an AFL player to that and it impact on the brain would be even greater than your unfortunate accident. It's scary to think he's had 10 such impacts

I read this article below and thought about Murphy. You might ask why Murphy has anything to do with a fat guy who shouldnt be undertaking eating challenges and being told by onliners that he shouldnt or that the pub shouldnt serve him.

He's fat. He's probably going to die from carrying too much weight. However, he has a right to live a life as he sees fit.

This whole subject annoys me because I'm heartily sick of religious groups telling others how they should live. That is a big one with me.

So hopefully you can see the connection. Murphy is living his life. He is choosing to live life as he sees fit. If you want to save someone who isn't allowed to make their own life choices, then advocate for babies in gaza who have no choice in the matter.
