Jake Kelly turned out alright for chump change. So Collingwood had the opportunity to draft him for potentially nothing but decided to pass, but we think its a good idea?
A small, slow accumulator, not exactly a need for us.

Agree. Let's not get carried away by letting someone train with us. This last spot isn't going to make or break the team.I wasn't aware we had given him a list spot, do you know something we don't?

"Code Sports’ Paul Amy revealed there’s whispers Southport midfielder/forward and former Swan Zac Foot could get a chance at Adelaide."
I just went and listened to the show, I didn't hear Hollands name mentioned once sadly.Did I hear correctly on bicks and walshy that McGuane and hollands were our train on players?
This guy is the main news breaker in the VFL comp so would be thinking Zac will be training on with us as well which lines up with that posters info (sorry I forgot who posted it)
Why is McGuane a better selection that Kellaway or Hibbins-Hargreaves

Tom's got some talent, but is small/light frame and that's the question mark.
If we wanted a left footed on baller, would have thought Jack Cook offered a little more than Tom, fraction taller at 181cm and a real goer.
Cook looks like he'll be another Campbell Coombe/Tom Lewis/Harry Wigg and have an excellent state league career. Too slow for the next level though.Would definitely roll with Jack Cook. He's been doing a bit of pre-season kick and catch with some of the senior AFC lads.
He had an outstanding u18 year winning the League BnF off just 6 games. State vice-captain, but was overshadowed in the National Champs a little. He then played League for Eagles and was in the best players at least 2 or 3 times for the final 8 games of the season.
If he plays full season in the Eagles in 2026 he'll be an exceptional player for them.
Anyone else remember that 2010 season when Michael Barlow came right out of nowhere as an older rookie and dominated 3/4 of the season for Freo? Then broke his leg.I actually really like him and hope he's the one we've asked to train on.
Some of his games against quality VFL opposition were just massive, especially against a stacked Brisbane team. He won Southport's B'n'F and I'm pretty sure, according to his Insta made the VFL Team of the Year. He has explosiveness and kicks a lot of goals for a mid, something we haven't had for who knows how long.
Another Ben Keays, Mitch Hinge success story would be a great win.
Finger's crossed he's the guy.

Zero upside for me
Talent can’t rise when your built like a whippet
Keep going back to the game requires size and power
McGuane could have best leg and footyiq - means **** all of you don’t have an athletic profile to compete
Actually McGuanne is a very similat player to Taylor with very good skills albeit a bit quicker and certainly a far better runner.Clearly we think McGuane has some smarts
Is his strength at stoppages? We lack pure clearance midfielders, whose strengths are in the clinches. Does his size prevent him ever being an extractor?
I actually think Taylor reads it off hands as well as anyone on our list but lacks in some other areas, so can't get a sniff around the middle.
Dawson is excellent as a midfielder overall but I wouldn't put first possession at stoppages as one of his strengths.
Berry is more defence-minded at stoppages. Not a pure ball reader / ball winner.
Maybe Soligo becomes that player? Has the tools and has shown real quality at times.
Rankine and maybe Rachele are more get-it-in-their-hands types, finishing off the grunt work.
Jake Kelly was also 190cmJake Kelly turned out alright for chump change.
Tyler Brown was a proven failure at AFL level that made no sense to recruit
At least this guy is a fresh draftee
Jake Kelly was also 190cm
We already have a small and slow midfielder in Sam Berry
McGuanne is not slow!!!Jake Kelly was also 190cm
