It was heavily compromised with academy bids which kept pushing our first pick back but we also traded back slightly in the draft.

Our top 10 pick was always going to be around 15 and then we moved back a few spots to end up at 20.

And people wonder why I can't get interested in the draft. What a circus.

We slid back for Narin we moved up for Schubert.

One of Dovaston(Small Forward) and Lindsay(Half Back) are the two players we potentially missed out on by sliding back for Narin(Forward/Wing).

One way to look at it is:
Dovaston or Narin + F2nd(GWS) + F2nd(St.K)
Lindsay or Narin + F2nd(St.K)

With Jiath, Breust moving on Narin adds depth we need for those roles. I liked Dovaston and Lindsay as well but I think Wing depth is a more pressing need and I hope Narin can fill that.

Scaife gone and Gunson in his last year's we needed a KPF prospect, Schubert is the best KPF in the draft. Perfect time to land him for him to learn and develop.

Except it pushes back our improvements a year.

Combined trade and draft period is an almighty fail for us. We didnt get anything we wanted and risk the same happening next year when we have another crack at a contracted Humphrey.

Hopefully we dont go anywhere near Merrett.
Just a question, how does this push back our improvements a year?

Tonight we drafted our gunston replacement, a key forward to develop for when lewis and chol are in their 30s. We gained two future 2nd round picks.

I would argue that trading away all our first round picks for the next 4 years for merrett, who is 30, wouldve been an almighty fail.

We made the preliminary finals, one game better than last year and again without will day. Trust in the young men coming up.

As to going for merrett and Humphrey in 2026. Why not? Who knows what could happen, zachs value goes down or he stays. Humphrey requests a trade to us or zak butters agrees to terms with us. I'd prefer us to have a go and miss some, than never have a go due to fear.

Don't forget just the year before we got battle and barrass

I reckon the scum ****ed our plans. If we still had pick 13, crows would've contacted us for sharp , then we'd flick 13 to crows for future first! Then pick up whoever with the later pick. Nothing went our way as far as preferences in the draft. So, we just made out the best way we could with what we had left.

Our plan was to draft Grlj, when he was off the board we were always trading down. We gained 2 Future seconds while keeping 2 First round picks this year. Not sure you can say nothing went our way.

Nairn+ 2 Future seconds > Adelaide Future First.

We're a club looking to trade in established stars . Could've had two firsts next year. Great starting point for a Humphrey or Walsh. We do lack some genuine star quality in the middle.

With Philippou NHH and Greeves on the board and eagles with 29 and 34 and matching bids for Tylah and Banfield that’s our chance.
52 and f2 gws for 29 is 3rd pick tomorrow night we get minimum one of them. Given our open list spots and the upside a no brainer.

Easily trade our Future seconds for a first round pick, Carlton will be looking for points to land Walker. We should have 4 First round picks to play with next year.

As someone with three university degrees can I tell you to go **** yourself? I don't care how a 17 year old footballer spells - I care how he kicks, marks and plays the game - that is some elitist bullshit right there. Red flag? for me there's a red flag everytime I see that you've posted
I’d also like to add that the OP didn’t even spell Aidan correctly, even though it was in the image he posted.

And with pick 29 Hawthorn select Heatherton! 😂

I wouldn't do that. I want two death ride threads next year.

So.

Who thinks we're going to trade back in for another player early on night 2?

And who thinks we hold off until next year so that we have a big pile of picks to trade for established talent instead?
