Pretty sure Cat B is reserved for people who have not played AFL at any level for two years. So Darcy will just be your standard rookie.

Or for NGA players who dont receive a bid. Not the case for F/S unfortunately.

In the Mock draft i participated in I traded out our first for Saints F1 and our Second for Melbourne's F2 via the Suns.
I then drafted Avery Thomas with pick 52 (which came into the 40s) I then traded out our FF4 for pick 51 and drafted the K-Man before taking Darcy in the rookie draft.
3 pretty handy players whilst going into 2026 with 2 firsts, 2 seconds and a third.

Side note wouldn't want too many picks available next year with Butters acquisition possible. The more picks we have the higher price Port will ask for more than likely

My thoughts exactly mate . The more we trade into next year will just be requested by port for butters.

We were linked to a ruck last year but they went before our pick. As I said before probably the last year or so to grab one so that they are ready when English is in his 30's. Better for us to have some competition for that spot when the time comes than put all the eggs in one basket.

Also with 5 players on the bench the ability to play an extra ruck, especially with the the new rules potentially speeding up the game more and further favouring athletic rucks, rather then mature bulky types taking 90% of contests. Prior to the rull changes I was more then happy with our depth.

The bolter is apparently a real vanilla moneyball kind of pick i don't know the draft well enough to speculate who it is but he apparently ticks all our boxes

We have one other genuine no.1 ruck on our list apart from English who is untested at the top level. There was a reason we have been looking at rucks over the past year or so. It is one of the weak points of our list overall.

He has an amazing athletic profile, plays aggressively, and yes..could of pursued basketball career. Could likely contribute all over the ground.

In terms of open pool, I could see our 1st & 2nd picks sitting at #14 & #20 after all the bids. While I understand if we go Kras that he’s a list need, I do think there are some decent players around.

I haven't seen any defensive side to his game, whether that is because he is too focused on being his sides distributor or because he lacks the defensive ability im not sure as it's often a trap u18s fall into especially when considered the drafts best kick. His speed isn't an issue running a 3 second 20m sprint, I think it just stands out more given the focus on out and out speed at his position, although his kicking at speed is a concern to me.

I’m getting the same feeling I got with Busslinger. I don’t like it. I worry with his skills that if the pace and pressure prevents him from always getting on to his left that it’s really going to bring him back to the pack, and I’m not seeing much else there.

If he is average or worse defensively he’s going to be a liability in our defence, where we already have a glut of blokes that aren’t flash when we don’t have the ball.

Feels like reputation had him near the top earlier in in the year but I’m not sure his output this year warrants it.

The sprint time is fine enough, but does he use it? I haven’t watched any complete games this year but haven’t seen much real run in the highlight and involvement videos.

theres running fast and theres accurate kicking and then theres both at the same time. its OK having a laser foot, but if you have to stop to use it, then you go from bailey dale level to sam power. Which applies to lindsay?
