Very true. I think Jasper does attend, as does Chris Cavanaugh from HSun

Side note, did you see the article on Caulfield vs Scotch from last weekend? Chris observed KB was there...
PA told me CC doesn't attend Coates games

Pains me to say but Starting to wonder if moving Heeney to forward full time next yr might solve a forward problem and finding a good mid is easier than a forward these days .

Agreed.

I tend to dislike source or info-shaming on here and generally think we shouldn't discourage people from sharing things they've heard. If people don't trust the info or don't think the poster sharing it is credible, then it's not hard to take it with a grain of salt, ignore it and keep on scrolling.

Re things leaking to the media and beyond, I believe it's actually the player agents that are involved in this the most. Media outlets and social media sites are getting the jump on stories before the clubs themselves more and more these days and a lot of it is to do with the player agents having so many connections in the industry.

Likewise, if you dislike source or info-shaming... just scroll on.

Like you said, it's not hard.

Scouting notes from the GWV game:

#10 Lachlan Carmichael
Defender | 183cm | 27/08/2007

Stats:
32 disposals, 11 marks, 4 tackles, 7 rebound 50s

Carmichael covered the ground exceptionally well, composed with his kicking especially in traffic whether it be in his side’s defensive 50 or up the ground in his attempt to push his side forward. He was exceptional at ground level with his second efforts and creativity where he was able to get a handball out quickly which resulted in the Swans going forward and looked to quickly get the play moving where possible. Carmichael provided great spread around the ground too to provide an option for his teammates, while also using his vision to generate plays from his long kicking.

#14 Kaiden McNamara
Defender | 186cm | 26/04/2007

Stats:
31 disposals, 9 marks, 5 inside 50s, 6 rebound 50s

Leading his side from the front down back in defence, McNamara played a true captain’s game where he utilised his leap to take an excellent contested overhead mark in the first quarter repelling an early Rebels attack. McNamara constantly was a go to player in his sides defence and provided plenty of run and carry when exiting defensive 50, however needed to make better decisions with his kicking especially when he decided to go long especially in the first quarter, however it did not prove to be too detrimental given it was a game where goals were rare across both sides.

#30 Noah Chamberlain
Tall Forward | 194cm | 21/03/2007

Stats:
18 disposals, 8 marks, 6 tackles, 4 inside 50s

Moving well and providing a presence around the ground, Chamberlain showed excellent vision all day to use his booming long left foot kick to find teammates efficiently around the ground, especially up forward where he managed to hit a few targets, however on one occasion delivered an excellent ball to King that was not paid a mark. Chamberlain showed excellent reflexes to quick balls, was sound at ground level and provided excellent defensive pressure with his tackling.

#33 Max King
Tall Forward | 192cm | 01/09/2007

Stats:
17 disposals, 5 marks, 5 tackles, 3 clearances, 4 inside 50s

King’s evasiveness and speed for his size proved to be a problem for the Rebels where it was displayed hitting up Tom Ryan on a lead in the first quarter, while he also broke away numerous times from the contest to drive his side forward. King was involved in a lot of the play and provided excellent defensive pressure around the contest; however, he needed to make the most of his chances with his kicking at goal on the run, an area that could do with improvement.

That all sounds promising. King, Carmichael and Chamberlain all worth a bid, Mcnamara and Kyle on the radar as well.

Your solution is to move our best midfielder? No. Find a forward. Could get JUH on the cheap that's one option for starters, Logan back will solve a lot of these issues, perhaps people now understand why Logan got a big contract.

How athletic did Caddy look the other night? Max King is of similar size and athleticism. If he fulfils his potential, could be the solution in a few seasons time.

Caddy is ridiculously talented bloke could be anything be interesting whether he becomes a mid a bit or stays forward he’ll be a nightmare matchup for years.

Who knows with King I just hope we have a pick before the bid

If anything King is more athletic than Caddy.

But this is a great comparison of players, big difference is Caddy is a bit broader currently, King will have to take a few years to build some muscle.

May not get to the Curnow heights (very few will) but he’d be a vague comparison too maybe an in between those two. I hate comparisons they drive me nuts

Curnow was already 95 odd kilos at draft.

Not sure on King's weight but he wouldn't be there yet, he doesn't our strength players a tonne currently, more relying on his athleticism.

I think he'd be close. He is a very solid unit for a 17/18 yo.

I think currently his low 80's maybe high 70's.

His legs have not put on a tonne of weight yet (luckily that will come with time).

Probably a mix between the two he’s a very hard comparison actually, but like King Curnow when drafted did play mid a bit

Heeney forward can be a short term solution to our current issues, but we lose our second best contested bull, its essentially robbing peter to pay paul

Yep and its silly games are won in the middle the end

Sometimes, but we won the midfield battle last week and look what happened.

Unfortunately you need a balance of both (Admittedly our forward line is drastically different with Amartey, Mcdonald and Papley).

Well not having Lloyd and co taking an hour to kick it into 50 straight to their defenders would help. No issue him resting more forward but he’s a midfielder

Sorry if it was posted when published, but this links us with Adrian Cole, 194cm Saints NGA KPD who wasn't drafted last year but did appear in some rankings as high as 30s, 40s.

If there is any truth to the JUH link then it might mean we look to strengthen elsewhere. I'd have KPD as the 3rd need behind inside mid and KPF, but Francis, Hamling, Rampe aren't the future and maybe the 5 we could be left with at years end is worth topping up ahead of time.

If we're looking for right now I think a KPF is the greater need unless we're close to giving up on Snell and Edwards. Takes a while for a defender to settle in.

Writing has to be on the wall with Edwards if he isn't getting games in this batch of games where we have our whole backline decimated at times. I'm not giving up but who knows there.

I'd take a swing on an inside midfielder or a KPF ideally both but I doubt we have two list spots

Curnow was/is very big in the chest and shoulders. Super strong in the upper body while still strong in hips and legs. Not many with that build.

I don't think a KPP at either end is for right now. Unless we're talking VFL, where you would hope Hamling or Francis returning to reserves soon with Amartey, Fox, Melican returning, means they could be forward targets.

I think we need both at some point this year, given Rampe's retirement and Francis/Hamling not being the future, we'd potentially be left with Tmac and Melican, and hoping one of Snell, Edwards comes on, only leaving the other and Andrew as reserves.

If we can nab a KPF at the MSD, great, though I think an inside mid right now is just as important to reserves success and youth development. Same boat there though with Mills and Adams comeback likely to dislodge someone from seniors and at least Adams would be helping out at VFL level.

I don't think anyone is likely to improve the senior team (right now) from the MSD, though you're right if we could get a mature KPF they have the best chance, but any one of KPF, inside mid or KPD helps reserves and the future.

For the future we also have King and Chamberlain who might be 3rd tall options forward.
