i actually love the confidence Phillipou has in his ability.
Belief in himself and his ability. You need those sort of players in your team
I’d be happy just to get him out of spite.i actually love the confidence Phillipou has in his ability.

The bid wasn’t expected at 3 but was expected early and before our picks in the teens and I know the dvi has changed but Gold Coast and Brisbane showed how to match those bids to get maximum value, leaving trade week with those picks was never going to end well for us.It was not expected during trade period Dean was going to go this early. Like I said Cal said it was unlikely Eagles would bid not long ago.
A bid closer to 9 would have absorbed 9 and slid 11 back into early teens. Would have turned 9, 11 and later picks into Dean, a top-15 prospect and Ison. Think most would have seen that as a win.

Gold Coast walk away with 4 top 20 picks plus Petracca this off season. The bid wasn’t expected at 3 but was expected early and before our picks in the teens and I know the dvi has changed but Gold Coast and Brisbane showed how to match those bids to get maximum value, leaving trade week with those picks was never going to end well for us.
He said he should be the #1 pick this year.
fwiw, I don't mind that!
Spot.On.Some of the melts in here about pick 3 for Dean. Kid was highly rated across the board, think it’s great we were able to get him using F/S. “West Coast did this” “West Coast did that” “Club shouldn’t have traded picks 9 and 11” blah blah blah - who gives a s@&t. Think we should be rapt we got Dean.
And with the North trade we also got a F2 coming back, which is very likely going to be close to a first round pick in a much stronger draft. Think. Should also help if we need trade currency if we need to get a higher first round pick for Walker.
They traded the 2nd that they got from the saints for Liam Ryan. If we were to assume that the Saints will finish 9th next year (after their shopping spree and before they crash and burn in 2027) then based on this years draft that would be a pick in the mid to late 30's. No doubt that they wanted one of their bids not to be matched but Lindsay is a pretty fair consolation prize regardless as to whether the Hawks wanted him or not.So you think their plan was to get in ahead of the Hawks on Lindsay - after first trying for 2 other players. The Hawks who were so desperate for Lindsay that they traded backwards twice?
Thats some 4D chess right there.
Na was ordinary (& he’s been poorly advised).
The task was simply to name a kid that you think could go #1. It was a way of showing respect to your fellow draftees. To nominate himself simply to try and radiate some manufactured ‘self confidence’ was cringe and he’s come across as a massive **** given he’s not even drafted yet.
I don’t want to draft a kid that can’t read the room as easily as that.
We were only able to take four picks into the draft as the poster mentioned above. What were we going to turn 9 and 11 into that was going to be more beneficial pre-draft using only 4 picks? The bid wasn’t expected at 3 but was expected early and before our picks in the teens and I know the dvi has changed but Gold Coast and Brisbane showed how to match those bids to get maximum value, leaving trade week with those picks was never going to end well for us.
I meant coherent tactics. If they were bidding for tactics they would have bid on Patterson at 3
So 28 and Swans 26' 1st for Saints F1 and F3?If we traded the pick and Saints wanted Phillipou, would we consider Saints F1+F3 for Sydney F1, or would prefer an F2 straight out?
You genuinely don't think that Roos future 2nd might come in handy getting Cody Walker? If both us and the Swans have good seasons we may well struggle to have enough points to match a bid at say pick 2 or 3.The future 2nd just like this years will be a pick in the late 20s early 30s that’s not invaluable
Can always package norths 2nd rounder with a first rounder and move up a few spotsYou genuinely don't think that Roos future 2nd might come in handy getting Cody Walker? If both us and the Swans have good seasons we may well struggle to have enough points to match a bid at say pick 2 or 3.
Guess it depends whether its Sophie McKay type confidence and swagger, or the other kind where he doesn't fit well into a team or very coachable etc. I have no idea about him so couldn't say, guess clubs will do their due diligence.i actually love the confidence Phillipou has in his ability.

Just any team in the top 4 should be more restricted in their access to high draft picks and free agents.Thats 9 first round picks in 3 years for them, including 5 in the top 10.
AFL should probably limit clubs to matching 1 bid a year.
Not necessarily, HOF projects well as a key forward. FWIW, I have HOF and Dean in a bracket, equally good. For mine, no chance Thredgold goes ahead.Would it be KPD overkill with HOF, Dean, Weiters, Thredgold?
WC bid on Zeke Uwland at 2, Jai Murray at 17 & Beau Addinsall at 18. GC matched all 3 bids.Hey folks did wet toast bid on any other players early or just Harry? I missed the draft.
