I don't see why people are complaining about Sunday night. Surely it's better than a thursday night seeing it's still the weekend, meaning you can get to the game easily. If we can get 27k to the thursday night game against Essendon, this should at least get 30k

I'm only saying the same rule applies to thursday night games, except the only difference being that Sunday is a weekend. Therefore, it's still better than a thursday night game. I'm not saying it's not easy. I actually think it should have been a twilight game, but from a crowd perspective, it's better than thursday

It’s a terrible slot for families and generally for anyone who has to work.

Thursday night games suck as well.

The minimum sit out under concussion protocols is 12 days, is day 1 the day of the concussion or the following day?

Hopefully we don't get a concussion and are then scheduled to play the Thursday/Friday night in the first week of finals.

I admit to initially being annoyed that it wasn't the Friday night which is when the game was tipped to be played, but on reflection, playing on the Sunday is better for two main reasons even if it means I now won't be attending; the first is that we'll know exactly what needs to be done and what the win/loss will mean to our overall ladder position; and secondly, it will be a nine day break following our game against Freo in Perth the previous Friday night which is pretty generous on the back of our biggest travel.

Like I said, I like it even if I'll mean watching it on TV instead.
The 9-day break is a very good thing.

The AFL really has no option, they have to get Essendon & Suns matches on Thursday & Friday - though they even screwed that part up. Why have 2 matches with potential finals impact up against each other on the Friday, but a standalone game of zero consequence on the Thursday? Baffling.

Speaking of poor fixturing, GC Vs Essendon on Wednesday night. That'll be rough for everyone involved.

Essendon players can go straight to GC night spots after the game, so that's a win for them at least.

Nonsense, it's brilliant. When I was a young tacker, I knew that there was a chance I could wrangle my way out of school on Monday.

I thought you left school in grade 2

I remember when Brisbane fans were begging for prime time slots and 7 not giving a stuff about us. I know Sunday isn't convenient, but you know what this fixture says? Our game is the most important one of the week. It'll still draw a huge crowd, it'll be good for club, especially their sponsors. So let's look at it more positively.

No we don't. The Sunday night game is a national 7 game. 7 swapped it for the thursday night game (which will be a fox exclusive)
Great then, can’t remember a fta in vic Sunday night

It's happened a few times this season, as it seems like 7 are experimenting with Sunday night games. Personally, i think Sunday night games will become a permanent fixture in the next broadcast rights, because 7 would be asking "If we can do thursday nights, then surely we can do sunday as well?" But yeah, the fixture was purposely done to build up tension and viewers as the bulldogs vs fremantle game and the hawthorn vs brisbane game are the two biggest games of the round.

I'd say its slightly worse than a Thursday. You can slightly write off a Friday before the weekend, but a later one at the start of the week flows on much harder.

Slightly easier to cop from Melbourne to be fair

That stand alone Suns v Bombers game is a disaster.

I mean as it stands, Essendon will likely only be fielding a tad better than a VFL team and for the Suns, particulalry if there arent ramifications if they win or lose, their team could be anything. Even a weakend team full of rested players for the Suns will account for Essendon. It'll be a total snooze fest at best likely to attract 12 odd thousand if they'r elucky.
That's a disaster (caused by a natural disaster), but not the disaster I was referring to is the Thursday night Carlton vs Essendon game. The only interest in that game will be if Vossy can get the team to do anything that looks like football decent enough to save his job (if he lasts to the end of the season).

Why wouldn't they play Collingwood vs Melbourne Thursday, and then double header Friday Carlton vs Essendon, and Suns vs Port. Each of those 2 games could still have an outcome that impacts the finals. Instead those AFL turkeys put the 2 games with possible consequence on at the same time.
