Once upon a time I would have frowned on that comment. The Geelong land/Cotton On rorts lead me to welcome any initiatives “topping up” our player packages. If it is good for the goose, it is good for the gander… ( Makes a mockery of our brown paper bag penalties)

Important distinction to make. St Kilda have not offered TDK anything yet. They have leaked to a media mouthpiece that they are considering a ridiculously high offer. This is gamesmanship from SOS, if St Kilda were a genuine chance of getting him, they'd be having quiet conversations with his management and doing as much as possible to keep it under wraps to avoid driving up offers from other clubs. They're not. They're trying to shift the conversation from "Is TDK worth $1mil a season" to "Is TDK worth $1.5mil a season" by way of throwing out media reports of $1.7mil.

SOS's plan will be to try and drive up what we have to pay to keep him, by whatever margin he can, in the hopes that it will help shake loose a Brodie Kemp type.
I’ll drive Kemp to Linton street myself if it means keeping the core group together long term (Cripps, Walsh, H, Charlie, Weitering, TDK).

Job at Visy 0.5 hours a day after training, 4 days a week...

$650k.
Yep. Its pretty easy to make a lot of these big moves work via ex salary cap strategies. Has kept Geelong competitive for 20 years. Just like it got us Judd out of West Coast, am sure club and player find a way and he stays.

We have the biggest Carlton business group in the AFL and I’ve been told by a fair way. Surely we would be front runners with such deals that would make Geelong’s look insignificant. Of course the AFL might be turning a blind eye to some rather than all.

If you want a perfect side go watch the epl. Salary cap and draft system make it hard to have no weaknesses. Think our list is pretty well set up for the future and for the now. Second key defender would be nice and some small forwards, but we have what most teams take decades to find, all Aus key position players and all Aus midfielders

What pisses me off about these 'leaks' to media and ridiculous calls, is that it's been our own that's made it public.
Sam Edmond and Sam McClure.

If we had the option of these KPDs at the end of the year in a trade who would everyone be taking?

Sam De Koning
Brennan Cox
Leek Aleer
Jake Lever
Ben Miller
Jack Payne
Jordan Butts
Tylar Young
Jacob Blight
Josh Draper
Zach Reid

Or would you be more inclined to wait a couple of years for Harry O'Farrell to come on physically. Really liked him in his draft year but I imagine will take at least 2-3 years to develop the body to play at AFL level consistently. Possibly time we can't afford to wait with our list how it is.

I would like to think we have the biggest CARLTON business group out of all the teams [emoji16]

Id go a cheap mid age option until O'Farrell came on

Some excellent names there, we/I would love on the list. Realistically, with the drafting of HOF, moving JSOS back, adding Haynes and having the luxury of swinging Kemp back as well as Lewis Young, who I remain amazed can’t work with Weiters, we have enough short term options. Quality costs both dollars and draft capital that can be better spent elsewhere.

We also have some possibility that Duffy and Lemmey can contribute in that space as well as an SSP addition to make, which could include Phillips, DG-B or forward leaning swingman McMahon.

Personally, I would rather draft young Harry Dean, or another genuine option at the end of the year than overpay for an established player or speculate on a journeyman type. The more long term pieces we add before the Tassie drafts, the better. I am not a fan of short term fixes. With workable structures we can absolutely put together a support mechanism for Weitering. The strange side to this is that Young is a decent back up for Weiters if we need to call on him, but doesn’t co-exist.

I don’t see how we can retain our established top end players and add significant pieces by trade or free agency. Expecting break outs from Jagga, Cowan and Motlop among others who will demand a bigger piece of the pie. The draft is our friend, and we have enough depth to put a decent combination on the park. HOF is a quality interceptor, so I expect him to start to integrate in to the top team in 2026.

(SDK remains the perfect list fit, but is a name we cannot afford)

Aleer. I like his athleticism next to Weitering. Wont cost a fortune in trade or $. Don't think we could afford SDK or Lever.

Wouldn’t be too sure about the coin for Aleer.
Supposedly already turned down a very lucrative offer to leave GWS last year. Think it was again a cashed up STK offering up a L/T highly priced contract.

Ollie Murphy 200cm KPD Fremantle from the Dragons 22 Premiership Team, Vic Metro & Team of the Year…
Played 10 games for Peel last season then missed back half due to a abdominal injury, stuck behind some very good talls…

He would have by the end of the year two seasons under his belt, would come cheap draft/contract wise, still some developing to do but I’d be keeping an eye on his progress this year…

Zac Reid who i had a high opinion of draft year, his body is a huge risk as it keeps breaking down, Butts and Aleer might be the more realistic chances depending on how things play out, the others are more than likely to stay and sign on you would imagine…

Then again, anything can happen for the right price and reasons…

I like Aleer, particularly his highlights. Remains to be seem if he is a week in week out contributor or a talented type who ran off Adrenalin for a couple of games. Lewy Young’s early highlights are comparable.

The team that gets him will absolutely overpay, so I don’t see him as an option for us. We traded out our 2025 first rounder and cannot jeopardise our 2026 first with Cody Walker coming up almost guaranteed a top three pick.
