Agree. And it is puzzling. Is it just confidence with Young? Feel he has more to offer.

I feel like his problem from 2023 onwards has been taking the mark and just standing still for 30 seconds, helping us move quickly is an improvement IMO

Yep. Doesn't get back off the mark, and generally just kicks it down the line. Got to the point where opposition would intentionally leave him free in the zone from kick ins.
I've got strong doubts re Young. Mental side of the game is as much a skill as the physical side, and while Young is solid physically, he struggles more with the mental side than most others on the list.

The club will need to do better than going with H and TDK as the tall forward options.
If JSOS is going to be lock down a spot down back, and with Haynes looking solid, Gov should be switched forward and Kemp needs to make his mark up forward too.
It really baffles me why we didn't go for Kemp or even Lemmy with Charlie out.
Particularly when we changed Kemp's position to play VFL.....

The frustrating thing with Durdin is they are mostly bad luck collision type injuries.
Not soft tissue types.

That's a bit of an exaggeration for me.
He's average at best. But not terrible. It's also not really his job to distribute, he handed a few ones off really well today.
I like the backup he provides Weiters. He's another seasoned body and at 2m tall can take the second best key forward. He also frees up a couple others to intercept and roam more freely e.g Haynes/McGovern

Have to agree... I don't think the oppo really have to plan around our smalls like the Betts, Garlett and Yarran days. Looking at that list, there's legit danger in all but ours, tigers, nth, suns and *. Imo

I don't understand why we can't just have one of our running backs run past him when he takes a mark or wins a free kick for a quick receive.
Opposition know he is a liability and leave him unattended in the pocket at kick ins. And we invariably kick it to him.

I understand that but when he marks it just have someone run past for a quick handball and let them worry about disposing of the ball. Otherwise he should just take the safe option and go long. For me it's not even the kick itself as much as the time he takes to get back on his mark and decide what he wants to do with the ball.

And dont get me started on kick sideways McGovern. Why does he insist on kicking sideways 30 metres out in the middle of the ground near the oppo goals? He gave away at least 2 goals doing this.
At least Young has a go and can mark and spoil. His disposal hesitation is the lack of confidence and really the fault of the leaders and coaches. Encourage the guy seriously!!

Young is a limited footballer. But far from the hack people make him out to be. He is good enough in the right system to play a role simple as that.
Often when at the games and yesterday you literally have noone to kick to. That is system also.
AGree, limited, and really really good in the air. This is an important AFL skill.

Fantasia if fit will exceed Owies output easily
It is shit but if we were pinning our hopes to Smith as the missing piece then we were looking at his acquisition the wrong way
250 gamer who will make a difference in time, in his first year he’d have been a beautiful addition but in year 3 and 4 I think he’d be a difference maker
