Yeah I reckon we come to the party a bit but he isn’t getting 850. He won’t get that anywhere. Plus clubs will have to trade for him
If another club offers him $850k he'd be crazy to pass it up so he should go with our blessing.

I think he's at best a $650k player at the moment. And if this is the list management team being disciplined with player contracts (TDK aside.....) then all for driving a hard bargain.

Why would Eddie have better mail than Ross.

Ross doesn’t seem to want to say much so maybe Ed should get back in his box and let everything play out in good time.
Maybe there’s very strong information being passed on which indicates Nas is now happy and will sign shortly.

Eddie as the leading football journalist would of course lead with “Saints fans should feel a bit more confident tonight”.

However as nothing has been signed, and therefore nothing is 100% certain, Ross, in his role as St Kilda coach would be correct in saying nothing.

Nothing strange about it in my view.

For what it's worth, in general I am a RTB fan.
I see most posters here took the Footy Classified interview as a positive.
I took most of what he said with a grain of salt, media performer, pretty much to be expected.
The main comment that stood out to me was towards the end of the opening piece RTB stated something along the lines of "I'm the coach and I coach what the list managers give me". That's how I took the comment.
For me, RTB is calculated. This is the first time I've heard him state a get out of jail free card. He's pre-empting an excuse, as in the list managers lost him the player he wanted i.e. Nas.
Make of it what you will, but tonight is the first time I now believe Nas will leave this off season.
Hope I'm wrong. In the fullness of time I guess.
Go saints

I think Saints clearly have a lower ceiling on Windy's output than he and his management do.

Which hurts because he's a home grown academy kid and has actually come on really well recently.

I think he'll shop himself around and see what interest there is, take it to the Saints with the idea of them getting a win win on $ and length of deal and hopefully re-signs.

As long as parties are comfortable that this is how business gets done these days.
Well, as Sloan said….maybe the managers are trying to push up the prices.
Ross, deadpan….. the player managers, no really?

Ross is the boss. He tells them what he wants, they go and do it.

I saw it more of a way off avoiding the Nas question. Basically that’s not my job so don’t ask me.

It's pretty simple why RTB is saying nothing. His word carries the biggest heft from the club in the media. If he came out and said, " o yeh, Nas is a lock", the media would jump on it and it would place unfair pressure on Nas. I think no one at the Club wants to upset the delicate apple cart which is taking place with the negotiations.

Why do you think the port Adelaide nuffie was picking holes in our list?
The flack is hardest when you’re over the target.
They’re this close 👌🏼 to losing out on NAS, and they know it.

On Ro and Steele. Quoted Chris Scott, which he does often. You don’t let your contracted players go unless YOU want them to go. Otherwise you might as well fold. Cats held onto Kelly and landed up with a big haul for him when they did a year later.
It was a good answer but they are slightly different situations IMO, Kelly was 24 at the time and actually increased his value with an AA year when the Cats held him to his contract

Marshall and Steele are on the opposite trajectory; both will be 31 at the end of their contracts and their trade value will be significantly diminished compared to now. If TDK comes across and both Nas and Windy stay, they become surplus to needs

Obviously it is correct to posture that we do not intend to trade them, but it would be negligent not to consider it if the right offer came along

Didn’t get that at all.
He’s concentrating on the coaching of NAS. And leaving list management to do their thing. I think it’s a positive - he shouldn’t be worrying about this in season when we’re still playing. He should concentrate on what he’s hired to do.

To quote a famous line of his…”let the cobblers cobble”.

Agree but I took it more as a statement from Ross to managers of both players that 'we'll tell you if they'll be traded, not the other way around'.

Very clear a lot of clubs are frustrated by managers dictating terms so often. A small but calculated shot across the bow in my opinion
