In some fluffy news.

Mattaes absolutely hopes his brother is drafted by us and thinks it’s a possibility aswell
I've also heard from a friend at Geelong that Liam has been talking to his two brothers there about coming over the Saints next year. Imagine having the three Henry bros in the same team ! Not quite the Danihers at Essendon but close. :)

Re NAS,

It was communicated at a 40 year member function on Wednesday that saints hope to hear something re nas this coming week?

My thoughts, if next week passes and nothing, I think trouble.

Maybe old mate Williams is dragging it out because he is trying to get nas home ?

It would be disappointing drafting your own, developing him for 4 years, turns into a gun, then leaves.

FWIW, I’m watching our NGA lads, Quentin Hoffman and Kye Fincher at the moment…

Hoffman I haven’t spotted a lot, but Fincher is more or less Zak Jones with hair.

Serious wheels, gets the ball, but isn’t careful enough with his disposal and tries to bite off more than he should try to chew. Puts the head down, bunches the shoulders, takes off and tries to burn off or out-muscle blokes when he should be a bit more considered.

Worth a list spot, but I wouldn’t be expecting heaps, at least not initially.

Although to be fair, we’d to it to any other club without batting an eyelid.

I think over the last 5 or 6 weeks our version of tanking has been giving the oppo a 5 or 6 goal lead and trying to reel them in for the honorable loss so as to book in a decent draft pick and this has been the case since we were screwed for a chance at the 8, mathematical or not. It's been a great challenge for the group and allows us to fly under the radar as we prepare for 2026 with the additions planned as well as being injury free.
Each to their own.

But I’m not buying that.

We are shallow in depth and once a few key pillars were out and other good players lost form that was kinda it.

It’s also a catch 22 as to build depth you need to expose these kids and play games which causes the massive fluctuations of form between quarters let alone games.

It’s also placed a spotlight on just how bad we have been in the “moments” that define games. Hopefully with experience we learn to own those moments. We have had some big ones this season.

Carlton, we got it back to under a kick. Had a centre clearances and botched it.

GC, held them goalless in the third and we kicked the first in the last. In between our 2 goals. We kicked 5 behinds.

Pies, levelled the scores in the third. Full of momentum and shit the bed ball in hand.

Freo, higgo goal puts us a couple clear and we had a number of individual moments that then led to Freo goals in the last.

Hawks, we are coming home like a steam train and just find ways to butcher it. The Sharman shot at goal in the last 🤦‍♂️

Sydney, numerous moments. But our set up for the Gulden goal facepalm

Cats, ontop back in the contest. Owens miss in the third 🤦‍♂️

Everyone going on about one qtr being the making of the clubs should consider this.
For three qtrs we were outplayed, sloppy, couldn't hit a target, and Melbourne waltzed through our defence.

Cone qtr 4 everything and I mean everything had to go right and everything go wrong for Melbourne.
If Hill misses the dribble goal, if Melcham doesn't hit the post, Sharmans left foot snap, his 55 metre bomb, Oliver missing the lot with less than two minutes, the contested mark by NAZ then the Melbourne brain fade and a goal after the siren.
I mean there is a reason it has happened once in 129 years. Yes romantic but I am sure the coaches got straight on to the players to get their head out of the clouds.
Because quite simply if we play like we did in the first three v an embarrassed North, we will lose.
Tomorrow is a real test to see if we have the mental fortitude. Remember we are the only team to lose to WCE.

My theory confirmed.

Tomorrow is definitely a danger game after the highs of last week imo
