Torn between two thought processes

1) Kind of love that the current players have such love for each other and are almost banding together against the club splashing cash on others instead of looking after the current group… that mentality could almost help us build the Geelong model

2) These greedy pigs were on track to finish bottom four before defeated 3 dogshit teams by the skin of their teeth. The club belongs to the fans, how dare you sook and put your hand out for more when the club is just trying to improve

I just question players being pissed off at list management finding ways to improve the list.
Yeah to me this is very concerning. Speaks of a club that is not aligned. No doubt Wilkie will come out and say it's bullshit. But to have the vice captain questioning list management out in the open is a huge worry.

Wilkie and Marshall chaired off Jack Steele on the weekend. When two of your best mates are leaving or feel disrespected, I can see why Wilkie might be pised off. He is also probably on massive unders contract wise.
Yeah let’s abandon TDK and Aleer, and instead use that money to overpay our current players.

That’ll keep them happy, especially the ones who have done **** all to improve the standards at the club. We’ve got the worst leadership group in the competition, and supposedly these guys are pissing and moaning because we’re trying to attract more talent to the club?

The senior players have done little to move this club forward, and it’s obvious our future lies in the under 23 year old group. Maybe trading Wilkie and Steele would be a good move

A few of us here have tried to make that point over and over, only to be scoffed at.

I’ve said from the start, we’re dealing with human nature. It’s a very rare individual that is unaffected by what his/her colleagues are earning if it becomes known.

Yet some have this expectation that because they’re playing for the sporting club we follow, they’ll be immune to that. It’s an absolutely ridiculous and unrealistic point of view.
Problem is, it was always coming out.
You need to pay to attract FAs and there is no way to keep the alleged offer to TDK under wraps. And even then, no one actually knows the true amount.
The AFL leaks like a sieve.
Just a wonder that we’ve been able to keep all the dealings with NAS relatively secret - except for the crumbs hos bloody manger keeps dropping.

As I’ve always said - there are way too many “journos” for one silly national game - it’s no wonder they all try to outdo each other with outlandish claims that they never get held to account for when they are inevitably discovered to be complete cr*p.

List management encapsulation.

I dont get the logic or hysteria around TDK

We have gone down this path because the AFL has no idea how to runa comp.

Indirectly Acquiring a Pick: Since we can't directly buy a draft pick, we can achieve a similar outcome by overpaying for a player, such as TDK. The extra money they pay TDK beyond his market value is essentially the "payment" for the pick.

Converting the Player into a Pick: The player, TDK, is now an asset of the Saints. We hold onto him for a few years. When we no longer need him (for example, when a younger player like Dodson is ready to take his place), we can trade him to another team. The return for trading TDK would be a draft pick.

This strategy allows us to use their salary cap to acquire a valuable asset (TDK) and then convert that asset into a draft pick later on, effectively bypassing the rule against buying picks outright.

So there are options. Once you have the asset you control what happens next.

My hope we get him in and he is a star for the next 6-7 years.
And if we trade our current ruckman now we will also get a draft pick, so TDK for 1.7 could get us say an end of 1st rounder now and another in a few years if we trade TDK.

Agreed. If Wilkie is for real saying "hey what about me Steeley and Ro this is BS" then it's a worry. What do the top players at the top teams get? They take unders to get better.

You have to question why we cant have the Geelong or Hawthorn type mentality where they'd prefer being rich in a good term over being extremely rich with a bottom 6 list.

Rival clubs are doing what we did to Essendon with Merrett

No chance in the world Wilkie requests a trade unless something drastic changes

But we might have to re-negotiate his contract - which honestly he deserves

IMO
And reward his white anting? He’s supposed to be a leader, instead he’s a part of the problem

He said that Wilkie is pissed about the way we have dragged out Nas's contract, and that Marshall has been left in the dark with the De Koning pursuit, and he is disillusioned with the list management and the direction of the club.

Just don't know what to think, kind of floored right now.
Is it us dragging the nas contract out?

An unsubstantiated rumour by a tin pot journalist does not equal Wilkie openly questioning management.

Of course if I ever see him saying the same thing on camera I’m open to changing my mind.

Trading Steele and Marshall is 100% the right thing to do. Especially if we can get some value.

Losing Wilkie would be a total disaster. Surely the club wouldn't trade him.

We win Trade Week every year, so we should be fine.

As usual the stupidity level go up at trade time. We have finally started to get the list in order and most of the talk is of losing ground. It’s an absolutely critical point now. Going bottom 4 for another long stretch will do more damage than paying to get a few signed up. SOS wants a broken down Sam Walsh to stuff it up Carlton. He’s going to have to sacrifice players to do it.
Seriously, the drivel that get's spouted on here is next level.

Does anyone imagine that SOS gets to sit in his office at RSEA park completely unbothered by anyone, with zero accountability, with a whiteboard on his office wall with the Carlton list on it, and his devious plan mapped out to destroy their list. And the whole while, all our other football department people, whose livelihoods depend on the performance of our team, are all OK with this, and just leave him to it?

Geezus, some of you are deluded.......

GUBBY - "Hey Rossy, did you see SOS's plan on the whiteboard? He's really gonna **** Carlton over, hahaha!!"

ROSSY - "Yeah, I saw it Gubby, We'll be ****ed, but it will a riot watching him burn the Bloos so bad!"

And reward his white anting? He’s supposed to be a leader, instead he’s a part of the problem
I wouldn’t be jumping to that conclusion based on the say so of media shock jocks looking for any scoop they can.

Hope Nas takes notice of Wilkie being upset about how the club has handled negotiations with Nas… maybe he can donate some of his contact to Windy and Wilks
