Loving how Leek Aleer is now down to:

600k with triggers that MAY get him to 700k
The triggers appear to have been active for quite some time looking at this place and the media outlets

I highly rate Windy, have for some time. The main factor is if he can be replaced or not, based on his attributes/position. Put simply, he can. Harsh reality.

Loyalty is almost dead. I think we might all be forgetting this generation (ie early mid 20s) are a very different breed. They are entitled, they are all owed something in their minds and put simply, play for cash. No judgement on right or wrong but I know that I have and will continue to push my employer for as much $ as possible, especially if I know what they are paying others with no credits in the bank.

All of this leads to less dynasty type teams (thank christ) and more 1-2 cracks at it, then a re-tooling. Some teams will hang around longer due to FS picks who dont go (Lions for eg have a 10yr midfield all they need to do is top up around it), but overall the landscape is shifting.

Unless you have land in Lara or CottonOn jobs at $500/hr. Then you can do as you please.

The question on Windhager remains: do you think he can elevate above the status of soldier?
I will be watching him closely this week.
He's elevated his game this year collecting over 20 possies a game most weeks.
32 last week. Given Saints ageing mids in Steele and Macrae, would think its likely they keep him.

There has been a lot of noise and questions from our own supporters and others about the supposed salaries we are throwing around.

The Age reported in June that the average salary this year is $520k.

If Aleer is coming across on 600k with Triggers for potentially another 100k.

I don’t think a single person could complain about the club being wreckless etc.

If the average salary this year is $520k, it's hard to believe the Giants have only offered Aleer $400k

The media basically act like a snow ball in my opinion. They started off with Aleer at 800k (which looks like it would be base plus match payments plus incentives etc..) or so last year and every report about every player since has been getting more and more outrageous and I think it finally peaked at Watson going on with Reid at 25 million or something absurd and finally the club has gone "okay, enough".

I expect figures going around over the next few months will "reset" back to more reasonable levels before "reports that offers have been upped again" start making the rounds close to trade period.

Gettable with Beveridge & Gabelich

Nas - still no one knows

Windy - Melbourne and Essendon (also north but the other 2 are the main 2) really want him. If we don’t increase our offer he could go this trade period. Called him incredibly loyal and will stay if we put more Cash on the table.

Wilkie - staying. Next captain

Steele - staying

Marshall - one to keep an eye on.

He can barely get a game as he's not much good.
He has played 10 games this year and been ever present since getting into the side.

Also their record with him is 8-2.

This isn’t me advocating for his greatness. Far from it.

But it’s factually incorrect to say he can’t get a game because he isn’t good.

That quote amuses me haha. I'm very loyal, for the right price!

Hopefully it's all just posturing by his management anyway and a fair deal gets done, would be a shame to lose him.

Tom Morris is not as important as he thinks he is - made Ross' comments all about him and became all defensive. Ross handled him and Rucci beautifully. was not aggressive to Morris but summed it up well
Morris having a brief moment of clarity “So I’m a chook?”

I've also said this for many years: to succeed we need to innovate not replicate. The only times we've won a final in the 21st century, we've played two rucks.

Nas is a disaster if he leaves for two reasons: he's top 10 talent, and we cannot receive fair compensation in a trade due to the system. Also plenty on here saying "pay him anything". Surely if TDK has a tipping point for too much then so do Nas and Windhager. The club has been criticised in the past for overpaying its own players.

Having said that I feel like it will all get sorted out. If there is a salary squeeze we have levers to pull in that regard.
Dont agree on the rucks, cant think of a side playing two rucks doing much of anything in quite some time (dogs won a flag with none).

I think youre misunderstanding what im saying. Nas leaving is obviously a disaster but if he goes cause hes homesick then you cant really blame the club, we cant be based in SA so what else can we do (if he leaves cause we ****ed the negotiations then by all means).

If Windy leaves its not a disaster by anystretch but if they BOTH go, weve lost our best player in 20 years to homesickness AND weve lost a fantastic cultural leader who came through our academy system.

Both is a ****ing horrible net result.

Sure there is a tipping point (although Nas id argue the limit almost doesnt exist) but losing one might be defensible, losing both, its gonna be real hard to sell that not being a **** up.

No Syav it makes it an absolutely nothing statement, much like Dilenas.
I do applaud your mental gymnastics.

Your genuine belief that It can’t be good if the coach and ceo are saying good things.

Maybe you would feel more comfortable if we asked the angels their views on it.

Stav, weve done this dance, club saying whats best for the club is hardly mental gymnastics, unless youre a mental midget.

Dont be a mental midget matew

It looks absolutely terrible if the club is lying about its position. THEY DO NOT GAIN ANYTHING TO PRETEND OPTIMISM ABOUT RE-SIGNING NAS.

Use your head and stop being an absolute negative nelly.
