Saints should play hard ball and not just accept other clubs wanting to rip us off.

IMO, Port or Crows can stump up with serious compensation
OR
Saints should work a deal with WC for their pick 1 this year & R1 2026 pick.
Walk Nas to the PSD for nothing.
Trade WC picks for a reasonable kid.

So much for AFL great equalisation policy, we have a ripper and likely lose him to team finishing top of ladder at seasons end.
What is WC getting for giving us two firsts? They cannot pay us for walking Nas to the PSD ...... that's draft tampering and would be vetoed by the AFL

I feel like the reports with Collard was that he was indiscriminate with the slur, throwing it around at multiple opponents? But the differing in suspensions aids the AFL with their secret formulas, and will probably spit out a number which gives Rankine a chance to play in the GF?

I know its outrageous, but there are weird dots suggesting that 50% of the players who have been reported in the past 2 years have been first nations. Perhaps culturally there could be things that are said or done (to them) on the field that lead to them deciding to highly offend in retaliation?

50% are also from WA, so maybe I'm just looking into it too much and it is just stupid men who should know better.
Firstly, throwing the word around at a bunch of different people is clearly less bad than targeting someone who wears nail polish lol.

Secondly, there’s clearly a cultural aspect to it. Similar to the Rugby players who don’t want to wear pride gear, look at where they come from. Hell, look at the demographics of the post codes who voted against gay marriage.

I don’t believe they’re doing it to retaliate against on field racism, I just think they’ve grown up in environments where it was always an insult, so they keep using it as an insult

Exactly, we need talent, and more of it. Nas on his own is not going to make us improve from a bottom 6 team to a top 6 team, it's just give the ball to Nas and let him take on 2-3 players. It's not sustainable, and we're still poor at most facets of the game. Until we can at least break even in the midfield, anything else is just a bandage solution.
You always want these player types to stay - however IF he goes, then maximising that trade is key to our future and can get it to the promised land just as keeping him could. He isnt walking for free that is key here - so stay or go, we have a a seat at the table and chips. Up to us what we do with it

Collard got six weeks and that was in the VFL. Does the VFL tribunal feel it has to be heavy handed on AFL listed players to be relevant? They gave Tauru four and I do t think the AFL tribunal has given that long for a similar incident.
It’s a good point. I suppose the vfl has guys playing that would be getting paid a pittance (or not at all) so they might be heavier on the injury based suspensions (ala Parker on that frankston dude).

Doesn’t account for the slur ones.

The tribunals and mros at both levels are a ****ing joke.

I’d back Rankine to get two week, won’t miss any elimination finals

It's going to be a very bad look from the AFL if they are making examples of players with lengthy suspensions and Rankine ends up with a slap on the wrist with wet lettuce. However, I think you could be right.

Bailey Smith is worth less than half of what we should be asking for in a Nas deal.

Not comparable.

If Adelaide is the team then they have a big incentive to get a deal done. If Naz fell into the draft then Port would snap him up in a heartbeat.

Id assume we'd be getting something like Rachelle, Edwards + 2x late first rounders for Naz + change.

RoMa out for the Cats (future?) 1st

TDK in for cash.

Steele for Aleer? Or a F2nd special?

Collard for Ryan + change?

Aim for Jevan in the draft.

It's gonna be ugly either way...

Adelaide?

First choice would be Josh Worrell. CHB & local Bentleigh boy.

Star then and a star now.

What issues ? Pretty standard stuff.
You’re kidding right? The fact he went MIA from the dogs last year during his recovery. Tried to get to hawthorn year before that. The significant off field issues related to drugs.

Younger people on here tell me it’s every second person.

Was it confirmed, was he suspended.

Anyway we’re getting away from the facts, if nas leaves don’t expect a rich return.

he literally said he took drugs and yes he was suspended

We’ve known about his mental health problems since his underage years, are you shaming him now ?.

He’s a star he wanted out, came out of contract and got out for what ?

its the summary from google. i'm not shaming him. they're his words not mine.

Most arent silly enough to get caught.

Have seen very few suggesting we will get a rich return, most understand we will get under market value but comparing him to Bailey is folly.

NWM to the draft ruled out by this guy. Not saying its categoric but this account is rarely wrong

I think this is going to end up being the main factor in the decision. Saint would send nas to the pre season for a couple of picks in the 20s and ports shitty picks without a player
