When are we going to start asking if he will re-sign in two years? I mean, not many players wait this long and don’t leave. I’m starting to get nervous already lol.
With the way we have been marketing NWM resigning, and the campaign over the past few days. I have a feeling he will be here past that 2 year mark. I think he signs an extension for another 2 years next season if we make top 8 and 4 years if we make top 4.

Finals and finals success is the only thing that’s going to keep Nas here.

A preview of coming attractions 😎🎞️

7 to 12 is very iconic too. Lenny to Roo.

Too many connections here!

As a collective our list are poor marks and are constantly out marked in contests, excluding a couple of individuals.
Are they mainly poor marks or is it more that this year that we basically had to play with no true big forwards or backs except young ones in Keeler and Caminiti? Or young rucks like Heath and Dodson playing up forward.

And with our forwards, our ball entry to them is mostly poor.

When Howard plays he is a good spoiler, and he also then allows Wilkie to be be Wilkie and to intercept mark.

I don’t he will be on 500, maybe 650-7 x4.
I agree with your estimate.

Problem is, it's too much. Given this contract rolls into 2028 (at least). That'll still be above average salary by then.

I know I'm a broken record but why are we offering this guy 4 years (even if the 4th is games triggered) but Windhager only 2?!?

He will be a good role player, and you need good players who are stars in their respective roles. He will be an good addition, and creates more competition meaning someone is going to be playing in our brand new VFL team next year.
I'd rather have Henry, or Collard, or some youngster getting elite development opportunity in the best 22 rather than VFL.

Rather than Ryan who might successfully play a role for 3, 4 years then be done.

I know the end is coming - in the medium term- for Sinclair, Wood, Hill etc- but I'd still rather St Kilda focus on youth development and a long-term timeframe. Like we did this year.

I'm hopeful on Keeler. I think if he builds his body up, he could be the foil for King.
Yeah and don’t forget. Heath could easily have kicked five in only his second ever afl game had he had his kicking boots on.

I did - that's why I engaged you.

What's happened in the past is irrelevant - that's why I chose not to answer.

The game is changing all the time. The ruck rules are changing.

Hell, we were told that Nas is gone because he hadn't signed yet at this time of year- even that is changing.

You are choosing to be negative - or maybe you are just a negative person.

Sure, TDK might not work out, and that would be bad - but what's the point in harping on about like an idiot like it's already happened?

It hasn't. He is coming. Strap yourselves in.
If TDK doesn't work out for us there'll still be a team out there that will give at least a first round draft pick for him in two years time.
That's what we're paying the money for. A good player that has intrinsic value in the draft/trade system. That cost nothing to us in the draft/trade system.
TDK isn't a big risk at all.
He'll always be worth more than what we gave up.

King back will help the other forwards no doubt, but I don't see how you could be confident he kicks 60 next year. He has kicked over 50 once. He will be coming off 3 years of very little footy. I will be ecstatic if we can get 40 out of him.

If I was a betting man, I would back Sharman to kick more than King next year. Coops is ready to explode.
Because we have Nas freakin Messiah kicking it to MING!!

You got Max Hall kicking it to Ming.

You got Sinclair kicking it to Ming.

You got Hill kicking it to Ming.

I just don’t want Byrnes anywhere near it though.

If King gets fit and lives up to his potential, the $1 million a season will be a bargain based on the contracts now going around. But he has to get fit and on the park.
By "lives up to his potential" you mean a 60-70 goal a year key forward.

You're absolutely right

3 years ago I would've said there's a 80% probability he turns into that. Given he was almost there as a 21/22 year old.

Right now I'd guess 40% chance.

Adding one guy who is 29/30 isn’t detrimental to our development. We gotten so much games into our youth past 2 seasons whilst still playing our seniors. I understand your frustration though.

Windy is a done deal ;)

Its an epedimic right across the list. Look at our wings, flankers and pocket players let alone our key positional players we have far too many who are poor above their head eg Macrae, Hill, Butler, Garcia, Hall, Stocker, Sinclair, Windhager, Higgins (ok if he is not matched on a talller opponent).

Keys Howard, Sharman, Caminiti are too often beaten in the air also.

What gets shuffled? Unfounded and outright incorrect ramblings? Then good.

Or, pollute the joint for months on end then when proven wrong immediately retort oH wELL wHO cARes Im JuSt gLaD ‘x’ HaPpEnEd LeTs mOVe oN

Love that playbook.

You positive posters dump shit on other posters and players, negatives dump shit on staff and club. We all get our anxiety out in different ways. Most of you positive ****ers just need another decade of disappointment and you’ll be where we are.

Hopefully we’ll have a good patch to pump our tyres back up in between. Then we can die and leave you youthful positives to move in to fill the burnt out negatives role. Cycle of life shit.

Actually you’ll probably find that negativity has been proven right more than wrong over the last 15 years. Hopefully that’s all in the past now. It does actually feel like Nas has been a refresh of the momentum and a really nice shove into a new era.

I don’t care what we do or how we do it. But we desperately need a key forward via trade or draft. Im aware of Heath, Dodson, Keeler but none of them are pure key position forward. Someone we can develop in the 2nds for the future or to help with structural issues up front when Ming is down.

A fit + inform Max King would be our most important player. I’m very confident he will have 60+ goals season next year. Our forward line has struggled the past 2 years without his presence. Even if he was out of form or kicking issues, he would make it so much easier for our smalls.

Max will be worth his contract. When he hits form, it’s going to look like the cheapest contract in the game.

Nas to Max will be iconic like Winmar to Plugger.
Don't know about 60 a year, but we all saw the forward line improvement when Heath was plonked there as a target.
To be a decent team we can't have a small forward in Higgins being our top goal scorer, we need King to take the pressure off with 40 a year and bring it to ground for the likes of Higgins, Collard or possibly Ryan to take advantage.
