2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

I know they’re positionally different.

But if we offer Aleer or JSos $600k+ and still don’t give it to Windy, we’re just going backwards.

At some point you have to focus on building the fabric and culture, not just bringing in mercenaries.

North Melbourne going after Windhager doesn’t make a lot of sense. Their midfield is ok and they’re pretty desperate for defenders of any size. I reckon he stays anyway. Wouldn’t mind McKenzie and/or Flanders but please just get Windhager done first.

We must prioritise keeping him. It would be baffling not to.

Honestly reckon Tom is talking junk about us and JSos… Cal was pretty quick to remind him that we’re going after Aleer after he mentioned JSos.

Hope he’s wrong anyway.

Neither JSos or Aleer are the lock down gorilla fullbacks we need. Just pay Windy and keep building the core

What's the record for list management threads in one off-season?
Pretty sure one year we had separate trade and draft threads each make it to part 4 or 5...

I've just caught up you crazy mofos have had a day!

McKenzie was always a Hawks supporter, so it'll be interesting if he chooses to go back to his NGA club. I can't genuinely see this to be an option, but in this year's draft, he could well be worth giving up a pick that will likely end up pick 12. I've been looking at recent drafts, apart from the obvious guns like Wardlaw, looks like theres only guys like McKenzie and Clark who were former top 10s who might be gettable. Big no for Jye though.

JSOS, surely this is a pisstake. He has been pretty good when not injured. Wont cost a pick, surely Aleer is off the table then - Ryan to get the Leek pick.

Still think Leek comes and JSOS is just a funny rumour. We've all forgotten that we tried to get Brodie Kemp late last year - the guy is still uncontracted! Cmon SOS, we know you want to!!!

Ryan, I'm still a bit confused by it. Still contracted so wont be free and isn't a salary dump like Macrae either. Maybe Steele can go and in a straight swap and they can pay next year's salary for Ryan.

Either way, I actually can't see any moves apart from the confirmed TDK move that could actually benefit us as much as signing Windy for 4 years would.

Next best thing after making finals, seeing Carlton melt
Even better is the main board TDK thread........in a battle of wits the Bloos fans are just meandering in, completely unarmed!!

It's a glorious, hedonistic slaughter, shooting fish in a barrel with a 12-gauge shotgun........ :roflv1: :roflv1: :laughv1:

Feels like we’re 80% through the build and instead of being patient and sitting through the last 20% we’re just going all gas no brakes

Very much this. Hugely reminiscent of the Hill/Ryder/Howard/Jones/Butler play.

Feels like we just needed another couple of good draft hauls and we'd be set up beautifully, but instead we're going for a low-percentage hail mary which could screw us in the long run.

I do see the idea behind it - try to catapult up the ladder while Wilkie, Since and Marshall are still elite...but I think we're way too far behind the top teams for a few mature recruits to move the needle in the short term.
