Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.

2025 KEY DATES
Free Agency Period: Friday, October 3rd - Friday, October 10th
Trade Period: Monday, October 6th - Wednesday, October 15th
AFL Draft: Wednesday, November 19th - Thursday, November 20th

Not to me. We need a pool of talent. Not keep leaking players to replace them with new ones for some headlines. If King doesn't get up we could need him immediately. It's always cheaper to keep what you've got already.

Thats very true, there's more considerations wich involve King, Marshall and Keeler. I think one of Hammer or Marshall is palatable, but not both.

Melbourne don’t have a first and Carlton would need additional points back if they traded the TDK compo to make that work for Flanders.

i think its the most logical outcome. then we retain moose with dodson/keeler as other options.

moving steele now that windy is staying would be ideal. steele for ryan is probably around the mark.

Melbourne don’t have a first and Carlton would need additional points back if they traded the TDK compo to make that work for Flanders.

As well as that, surely we are a more attractive destination than both the rabble at Carlton where there is a mass exodus or a leaderless rabble at Melbourne, even before we look at draft capital

Don’t think so. Different players. I see Flanders starting next to Nas in the middle of the ground if I’m honest.

Not sure I see windy in there unless tagging.

I’m okay if Caminiti is playing CHF.

I don’t want to lose Marshall. More accepting he will go and this would be an outcome I’m fine with

Windy was very effective across half back against richmond. he's also been very effective as a tagger and on the wing vs freo.

hes probably top 5 picked in the side right now given his versatility and ability to swing things in our favor without really doing anything flash.

i think it gives the side flexability to play NAS and Flanders where theyre effective.

But it is certainly tight for spots in many areas of the team - which is a good sign

I feel the gap between Sharman's best football and worst football is arguably the greatest in the team.

But I do want to see him getting the second, third, maybe even fourth defender and seeing what damage he can do.

One thing in favour of your argument is that his forward pressure isn't great - how many of those types of players can we sustain in one forward line?

Given Caminti does have a sibling who has autism and extra developmental challenges associated with it, it's probably best to stay away from joking about it with regards to him. Even if no harm was intended in the topic.

One player who shouldn't be discounted is Liam Henry. Give him a full pre-season and I think he will return to his best. He was a POD in 2024 when we beat Pies etc.

the amount of shit gawn has had to shovel for that club. its pretty insulting. he's had to deal with a coach doing coke and going off the rails to the point he needed a full time minder after the AFL CEO raised his concerns. then his best mid is completely drug ****ed to the point he's ripping wipers off random cars, kicking in dry wall, leaving nightclubs on christmas eve after sun rise and then injuring himself scaling barbed wire fences barefoot in the early morning to get back into their training camp. then just have to deal with may on the daily.

all cumulating in him having to defend the club. would be enough to just leave TBH.

agree sharman is either a bust or turning the game on its head. its so wildly inconsistent during the 4 qtrs.

Really nice change. Just a couple of short years ago we had to pay for clubs to take our players (Billings), give them away in trade (Acres) or get shit picks ( Bruce, Steven).
Now they are trying to prize out contracted players or forcing us to pay more luke in NAZ or Windy.
Nothing more says right track when your players are sought and a premium would need to nmbe paid.

just last off-season, no one rated us Nas was a nice player, and he was the only one.

Is is possible to love Lyon and co for what's happened in 4 years but also be wary as buggery.
I said when Lyon came back that we needed a strong head of Footy (and we had Walsh at the time) to make sure that St Kilda came first long term.

Would love to see a list manager and head of footy installed before Lyon leaves so that what happened 15 years ago doesn't repeat.

Agree re: joking, but I do think it’s good to openly talk about neurodiversity in spaces like sport where it’s not often openly discussed, despite being very prevalent.
