2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

Maybe Nasiah in the backend of the season as well as Kozzie Pickett getting that bumper contract have opened his eyes a bit? Role Models potentially?

Like he can see what could be there for him if he pulls his ****ing head out of his ass?

Did he? 😂 Gut feel has now turned into confidence. In all seriousness though I think Saints would be the only club that has the resources to get him back on track.
Can you imagine the aneurysms amongst the media? It would be hilarious, right up to the point where we go "Ohh...s#!+. Yeah, really bad move after all." Yeah, f' it. Let's do it.

As for Hawks-Essendon, hopefully whatever the Bombers do works out the worst for both clubs. That's all I wish for.

Yeah last thing we'd want is dangerous people turning up and threatening the safety of club staff. If he has deep ties and is involved in their operations, its not chance for me.

If some of his mates are on the fringe of some questional operations he might be able to cut ties without issue.

I think it would be in his best interest to go play for Port or Tassie in the VFL until they're back in the AFL. Seems like a bloke that might do better out of the big cities.
Its been reported that he's moving out of Melbourne - we are almost no chance

There has to be a better plan of player management - Then just loading up players and if you get through a survival of the fittest pre season, then you should be confident you’re good to go.
Honestly recent history suggests this is the biggest risk for us heading into 26.

King is gonna make the biggest difference to our fortunes next year (Pou might well be second) if we **** him up in the pre season again it’ll be so so so shit.

Merrett - 30 in early October, injury history, contracted, captain = 2 x FR picks

Steele - 30 in early December, less injury prone (played "sore"), contracted, captain = Late 2nd/Early 3rd.

Make it make sense
brings back memories of goddard on trade radio before he rejoined us,but merrett injury history?news to me,i think both have been fairly durable without looking it up

but yep reminds me of goddard,we will always be on the negative side of things like that

It seems like he's adjacent to the trouble, rather than being directly involved in the trouble.
Nah, he is the centre of most of it, the spin on this to protect him has been absolutely world class.

Put it this way, he’s a former number 1 pick with more talent in his pubes than most mortals have in their whole body and the media is STILL saying it’s likely no one takes the risk next season.

In the cut throat win at all cost world of the AFL you’ve gotta be in ****ing horrible shape to be labeled do not touch.

Just for one little self indulgence, imagine a forward line of:

Ryan JUH Hall

Higgins King Sharman

Jeeeeeeeez that's be fun to watch. Or, for shits and gigs, the Indigenous all-stars line up of

Ryan JUH Hill

Collard Keeler NAS

That'd go so ****ing hard in Sir Douglas Nichols round

The downside to this is that a Geelong/Collingwood granny looks almost certain now.
gee that will make the wait to trade period a whole lot longer,i think hawks and lions some chance if they win this weekend, would actually look forward to hawks and cats tearing each other up,why bother with cats/crows if the crows make it through?=no hope

if your right that is the exact reason i have my huge western movie collection,it wont be cats or pies,it will be audie murphy or randolph scott for me

Massive risk John. Do we really want to go there, regardless of the talent JUH has?

We would need to see and hear evidence that the lad is turning his life around.

The other issue is what would the Bulldogs want in a trade? Presumably little, but they aren’t very happy with Saints at the moment.

Feel like the indigenous boys around the league really respect Hilly, he could potentially be the difference and might be able to keep Jamarra in line??

I mean, theres really not anyone like that at the dogs. Bont seems more like a "lead-by-type on the field" example.

Anyway, all of this speculation aside. I hope the team keeps Brad around in some capacity after he retires, he is unbelievable for the off field culture. Mason Wood too.
Hill and Wood have been our best signings in a long time. Been serviceable on field, but the off field, which we know is HUGE, has been A++++++

I think the club would back itself in, they seem to have a real buy in with their indigenous program. I could definitely see Hilly taking JUH under his wing as he has done with NWM.

In terms of a trade, there's no doubt we'd have to cough up something, but, it also depends on how much of his contract we are taking on, and how highly the Dogs rate him given whats happened this year.

Sam’s such a big fan that he didn’t play him in the final .

Agree with you if they get an A grade mid in he should pack up his locker .

I think he's injured to be fair.

Its the old story "you lay down with dogs you get fleas"!

The fact that his direct involvement hasnt been reported doesnt mean he is not up to his ears in shyte. He is no different to Didak etc mixing with bikies and dealers nothing good comes of that. The only reason you would entertain taking him on would be if he agreed to a curfew and no contact clauses in his contract.

Yeh i mean anyone making a semi is a good team, you cant write any of them off in full.

But Cats and Pies are positioned beauitfully (especially as older teams with the double rest) at home (with possibly both interstate opponents OR a team thats done back to back road trips).

Regardless of the outcome this week Cats and Pies will start warm faves in the prelim,

I don't know if we would have to give up anything.

The dogs seem like they'll be happy to just get rid of him.

They might delist him and just pay him out.
