2025 List Management Discussion - Part 3

Now that our season is over, and news is starting to break - it's time for a fresh thread.

This thread is to discuss all things list management - trades, draft, free agency, delistings and more.
As we are now officially in our off-season, we'll be wanting to keep this thread more strictly on-topic than the previous iterations.
Be respectful. You are allowed to disagree with someone - but play the ball, not the man. Repeat offenders will have their posting rights revoked.

Thanks to Lore once again for this incredibly useful spreadsheet.

rather than get nothing

saints-may
pies-steele
dees-mihocek and heath

not saying i want may & this all depends on the dees, get the feeling they are invested in shipping him out,2 players filling needs for no draft capitol might suffice, one could be an 8-10 year player
Are we going to try and fit 6 key defenders in the back half?

Anyone with half a brain can see he will be a dog in about a months time.

The Wilkie thing makes zero sense to me

1. If he had issues with bullying and harrassment etc, why would this only come up now when there's the prospect of a godfather offer from the Dogs? He was on the record as dismissing this a month ago, surely nothing has changed in that time.
2. Why would he be salty about us recruiting extra help in the backline? With Battle gone this year his job got infinitely harder and he frequently looked exasperated, surely he'd be stoked to have some more support.
3. Not to mention he's no spring chicken, I would have thought he'd want to see us recruiting players in the win now age bracket.
4. Re: salaries he's an accountant, he wouldn't be naive about how these things work. You pay overs to get players in, the CBA increasing inflating salaries etc. If his manager wants to use the dogs offer to extract some extra $$ from us I can believe that, but he doesn't seem like the sort of bloke who'd jump ship purely for money.
Just reading this now, so maybe someone's already answered but I suspect the bullying stuff is between SOS and Wilkie's manager. It sounds like the manager is a bit of an agitator but also most of his clients are female footballers so he's probably pretty "new school", doing his business in public and crying about bullying and so on.

If there was bullying going on at the club with the players, we would have heard about it long before now

Look, l have no problem with butts, I can see the value on a few different levels, a needed out, rounded, practical. Of course there are defensive systems in place to protect butts but when push comes to shove, when exposed, isolated and devoid of that ingrained defense, what can butts offer alone?

I would suggest once it got to that stage, not a whole lot.

If Armooo is correct then I'll rightfully bow down, but surely this type of stuff is ban-worthy if its rubbish...
He's definately not correct
He was referring to a message l sent about the Bulldogs thread actually having more interest in Jordan Butts than Wilkie.
Most of them know, they can't offer us anything of benefit, was my point.
No idea what his is?
And he's admitted to actually not knowing who Butts is.
He's being called out for it on here
So, probably enough.

I was obviously skimming too quickly, I thought it was Wilkie that was being discussed. Thats my bad.

Like Nasiah was gone to Adelaide
Like Windhager was "not valued by Ross" and also gone (heaven and earth required apparently)
Like JSOS was gone to Dogs or Pies
Like we couldn't afford to pay Nas and TDK at the same time

Let the main board do as the main board does. When Cal stays, the narrative will then change right back to "Saints have ****ed their salary cap keeping everyone, its gonna blow up"
We should all take a deep breath.
I said it with Windy.
I’ll say it with Wilkie.
Not going anywhere.
( Wasn’t quite so sure about, NAS I’ll admit.)
That HB rebounder architect is one of the most important in footy now. Having multiple players who can play it is a good way to stop yourself being shut down.

Having seen a lot of Lyon over the years I would expect him to play tempo footy still. Set up behind the footy to sit in a defensive holding pattern and then score heavily in bursts.

Having a sorted midfield will make a big difference to our scoring too. TDK should feed what we have better and King back should allow a bit more freedom up front. It will be an interesting season.
Sounds to me that now we may have a ruckman that can actually win and direct a tap, our midfielders can go on the attack immediately rather than default to defence. Hopefully with the new ruck rules, TDK can make a huge difference to our centre bounce clearances. I love Roma, but we haven’t seen a lot of taps directly to the mids since Paddy was there.
