From 9 News Melbourne tonight:
  • Allen will be at Brisbane next year.
  • Draper expected to depart Essendon - either to Brisbane/Adelaide
  • Starc has offers from Victorian Clubs and West Coast (no new info) - "one to watch"

There's talk that the Saints will have to trade a good player or 2 out to get in TDK/Aleer and pay NWM what he's worth.

Marcus Windhager, OOC this year, been released from tagging duties, being freed up and looks to be breaking out as a classy mid, although probably not a need. Pretty versatile could play as a small/medium back or forward as well. Maybe if both Ah Chee and Starcevich leave?

Another Saint I mentioned a while ago was Isaac Keeler, still listed as OOC this year on footywire, from my viewing looks to have a hell of a lot of potential, takes Brandon Ryan's/Sam Day's spot on our list?

How are the Saints struggling with their cap. Who are they paying on that list. It is full of C graders.

Agree 100%....not the point I was trying to make.
My post is about the comment from mpa16's post about hoping "Fages plays this back to the players."
Really, Fages doesn't need this guys comments right or wrong (100% right in this case) to confirm what he already understands as a problem last week.
The issue is last week wasn't an outlier. Hoyn is right, and many here have been saying something similar for a couple of years now, we don't get up for "weak" teams.

The coaching staff would have certainly looked at those stats and drawn their own conclusions as to why/how this happened and what they believe their solution to it should be. That solution could be multiple things that you and I (& him) know nothing about but I am 100% sure he well & truly knows. Stats only tell some of the problems and those stats certainly show there is one with our forward entries last week.

Meh... we must have been doing something right. In the past couple of years we're 4 points short of being back-to-back premiers.

Perhaps the "run towards the fire" theme they've been going with is not quite right. When there's no fire, why run?
Edit: but should serve us well for the remainder of the season.

How about this for a trade fantasy from Fox today, Charlie Curnow to the Lions > https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/de...s/news-story/8979e6ea27dce6f125cddfc675d5da08

Scott Gullan’s Brisbane offer

“I’m giving you a first-round pick this year and a future first rounder — two first rounders and Eric Hipwood. Done deal, sign now. (Hipwood is a) Premiership player, proven on the big stage.”
lmao at this same guy then making a football manager style trade proposal for geelong to get curnow - 3 guys on the brink of being delisted and a future first for curnow.

Wonder if Ah Chee + Starce could become a future first from West Coast. That's 2 premiership players who'll slot straight into their best 22 - not to mention us paying enough for Allen means a pick 2 this year for them anyway.

ermm I went and read the West Coast board trade thread

Pay Allen enough to generate pick 2 or else we bid on Annable
Pick 32 for Ah Chee + Starce or else we bid on Annable

This bid on Annable card seems to be played over n over to win all trade scenarios over there :D

an unbelievable career, wonder if anyone has played 300 games debuting 23 or older
I dug through the list a few weeks back and the answer is no. IIRC Craig Bradley was the only other one who debuted after the age of 20 to do it, at 22.

I feel like every couple of years WC try to raid us. Tried to get Rich, got Yeo, got Redden, got Witherden, drafting Charlies brother, whispers of Dev every other year, Starce talked about for the last 8 months, now Ah Chee.

I get we're likely getting Allen but geez, go get some other clubs' WA boys.

Manager working overtime ‘leaking’ these rumours

From memory Cal's manager is Colin Young's former business partner. So rumours popping up about multiple other clubs unironically makes me feel better about our chances of re-signing him.

The only thing is Adelaide have already tabled an offer for him.

They've admitted it. So I don't think they're doing that for any other reason than they want him.

Depends what it is I suppose.

Yeah the adelaide link is clearly legit. But west coast being thrown up by a WA paper very late in the process?
