Honestly can you actually imagine if we pulled our offer now after courting him all year? Why, because 19 year old Dodson had a good game in the 2s?

No player would ever trust us again.
Rubbish. He keeps telling everyone within earshot how much he loves Carlton and wants to stay, we should grant him his wish.

Would like Greeves in this draft.

He's getting better and better. I still think he's a safe bet more than exciting but we could do with a safe bet I guess. I still like Grlj and Rodriguez. Grlj might be another Zak Joes though, manic but messy.

He just isn't very good right now. Looks half arsed.

I’m leaving towards taking a key forward over a midfielder at our range of the draft if the talent is similar.

Think there’s enough to work with in regards to the mids, lacking up forward as much as anywhere else on the ground.
What’s the point of a key forward if we can’t get them the ball? Surely the midfield is still our weakest link

The midfield stood up today.Probably the disorganisation of the back 6 was the difference. A few rookie mistakes in holding the zone together and letting Sydney get out the back behind us.

Aaron Hamill never wanted to come and even after captaining us - considers himself a Carlton fan.

Just so I’m following:

We’d rather not get a player in a position of need, who better fits the current groups timeline, who’s got a body work behind him and the best ruck of the last decade rates very highly and instead…

- Keep waiting on an A Grade mid to become not only available but willing t to come (after striking out too many times to count)

- Taking on a “salary dump” mid from Carlton or Melbourne, who don’t forget also have to agree to be traded, and those options are:

  • Oliver, not in our age bracket, troubled
  • Petracca, not in our age bracket, likely not interested in going from a mid club to an arguably sane sizeable smaller one
  • Walsh: Right age, dubious injury history, still contracted for one more year so not sure you’d even get a decent asset to take it on and this narrative is pure media opinion on what they should do.

- Or use that $1.7m to bring speculative players from better teams who can’t get a game in their seniors (Charlie Constable anyone?) because we’re hoping to unearth gems.

There is a reason why some people work as list managers and some post on here.

Thankfully the people who make the decisions aren't that silly over VFL game.

What do you drink with an oven baked membership, white or red ?.

Pink, mix them together FTW. Full of body, light and refreshing plus fruity!

Largely depends why an offer gets pulled, for all we know TDK and his management would say "thanks but no thanks" in private and due to the nature that is footy, we'd be cited for bullshitting peoples and doing the nasty never to amount to much cause that's what gets peddled.

Will do as you did and cite how we have Dodson and phwoar and lookit what Moose is doing and WTF would we have done yadda yadda when reality is amicable discussions were had by all.

Players would still trust us then as pleasure to deal with and give fair offers, much enjoyable and refreshing.

29 touches and 3 goals
He is 19!!

Best rucks in the league.

Cameron 29
Gawn 33
Xerri 26
Marshall 29
TDK 25
Meek 27
English 27
Darcy 27 (twin rucks)
Jackson (twin rucks his entire career)
Nankervis 30
Grundy 31

(Taken from AFL app)

All are mature big men. Multiple pre seasons etc. Jackson the one outlier - who has never rucked a season on his own and carried his side to contention. Been apart of twin ruck set ups successfully

Exactly and is dominating
Looking forward to a ruck combo of Dodson and TDK for the next 5 years

Yes they are professional, so they would be amateur if they weren't reassessing where the list stands.
And it is pretty insulting to think this is over a VFL game.
We have 3 decent ruckman in Marshall, Heath and Dodson. Dodson is 19 but already looks better than the usual 19 year old ruck.
Heath has shown today he is AFL capable and Marshall is still very good.

All three are better than 2025 TDK. It is turning into a big gamble and I would hope these people you put all your faith in look at the current situation ax it changes.
But of course, our recruiters must be correct, look at all the flags they have won us.

Not sure how you are calling one better than the other.

grundy came on quick, gawn was AA in 2014, lies, damned lies and statistics

He is a 19 year old ruck who hasn’t played a single AFL game.

Even then, he needs time to develop. Ruck is the most physically dominant spot on the ground. Look at the best rucks - not a single baby. All mid 20s or older.

So by the end of that contract he would be ready to be the man
Exactly my thinking.
Since when is a 19 year old ruck ready to carry a team?
TDK fills in that perfect age gap, allowing Dodson development time.

And IF Dodson is ready before the TDK contract is up, surely having had a front ended contract will ensure TDK is then earning less and we could trade him out if necessary.

In the meantime Dodson gets four/five years to develop his game and is a handy back up in case of injury.

And if TDK plays like he is currently? And Dodson turns out to be the new Xerri, and then we are stuck with a Mackay situation but twice as costly and hampering us going forward.
The risk is incredibly high. Would rather keep Marshall for a couple of years and see if we can prize out a midfielder as a salary dump.
It is a high risk and the situation is rapidly changing. TDK looks a shadow of himself and Dodson is on the up. Heath getting a gig and Marshall contracted.
Reassess
Tbh I can’t see it happening.
Carlton is an absolute rabble at the moment. And heading in the wrong direction on the ladder. The club appears to be in a mess.
He’ll get a new lease on life with new voices around him.

Where did you hear that?

There is an interview with him in the hun a few years back and he basically said Carlton were still his no1.
Loves his time at the club. Will
Always have a soft spot for us.

But is Carlton through and through.

Seriously? You think TDK has been going well? He has been terrible for 12 weeks. Contributes little around the ground.

Marshall.is also on half the money of that. So if you want to use stats, he would have to be twice as good as Marshall.
Do you think TDK is twice the player Marshall.is?
For 1.7 million he will be expected to win games for us on his own. The money is ludicrous when we have players who can do the job, but we don't have midfielders of top quality.

You can reply to this but I am not continuing this with you, have seen you and Phantom going on and on for pages. My opinion has changed and blindly defending the club when it is obvious that circumstances are changing is fine for some, but I am entitled to my opinion especially when the evidence is in front of us.
As I said previously, I doubt we withdraw the offer and if we do get him, I hope he goes as well as you think. I also hope that some on here don't get their panties in a twist when he stinks up games ( as all players do) and gets bagged out on here, and Marshall is winning games at Geelong or where ever.
