Richmond looked a SHITLOAD better against the Eagles than we did.
And? That's one game. You can't measuring where teams are at based on one performance.

And why just against West Coat to determine we are similar quality? Why dont we judge based on our showings against Geelong or Fremantle or the head-to-head game earlier this year.

I love you too much and am too busy to go back and forth with you over a likely throw away comment, but the bottom 3 is clear and we ain’t in it 😘
I reckon bottom 1 is clear. The next 5 is pretty argurable.

Richmond has massively out performed expectations with a bunch of babies and real ****ing average looking vets.

North... Who ****ing knows, i keep thinking they should turn and they dont.

Us. Tough draw, Gold Coast, Seaford, Longer v Hickey etc etc etc

Essendon whos medical staff seem to have them in a bottom 4 finish multi at this point

Melbourne who is similar to Carlton except shitter.

Should also be noted allllll those teams all sit within a game and a half of one another on the ladder.

We are the only ones who look capable of playing TRULY good top 4 footy but were also the only ones who lost to West Coast so do with that what you will.

Weve played some footy where weve looked top 4 and weve played some footy where weve looked 18th.

Our last 5 weeks:
Geelong 4th
Sydney 10th but 5/1 in their last 6
Hawks 5th and 5/1 in their last 6
Freo 7th beaten hawks & pies in their last 2
Pies 1st

Think we are travelling just fine, considering we have been in every single game at 3 quarter time against the best sides in the league.

W/L absolutely irrelevant once finals were off the table. We evidently have a superstar young mid in Nas. We have a lot of young talent showing things. Found a very good one in Hall. Windy Owens Sharman Caminiti Garcia all taking the next steps.

We are fine. Irrespective of how the final 5 games shakes out.

I like your optimism, but we don't want a losing culture either, as it's not good for the club, or player development no matter where we sit on the ladder, anywho we are playing against.

Theyve also won one more game in paying more and lost two.

Given our current form were no monties to beat Richmond or Melbourne (in fact i hope we lose them tbh). Even North isnt a home run.

Our draw hasnt been kind but every year i see saints fans banging on about this unfair draw. We love an excuse.

Weve been honorable in losses to good teams, totally agree, but maybe we just tend to play to the standard of our opponents. By seasons end its almost certain that West Coast will be a histotically shit footy team and well be their only scalp this year (which unsuprisingly is caveated by saints fans as "oh they were motivated" etc etc.)

Weve played some footy where weve looked top 4 and weve played some footy where weve looked 18th.

We gonna finish bottom 5, IMO were pretty similar to the bottom 3 teams.
I honestly reckon we hand out at least two thrashing over the next four weeks.

We've played some good teams recently and hung around for most of the game without getting a lick of the ice cream.

I'm predicting a tightish win against Melbourne which will just release all tension about not winning for a while and then we'll go out and hand out 2-3 40+ wins and then the media will go from "ross lyon sux" to "another wasted year for the saints finishing in no mans land"

We have a development culture.

You keep building your playing group up and these losses turn into wins.

None of our guys have gone into games expecting to or being coached to lose.

Normally I would think he 100% gone but windy or hall haven’t signed either, I’m thinking maybe they announce them all at once and say some crap like our future is looking good
I'm pretty sure if Nas was done it would be a solo announcement for one of the best players in the comp.

I'm also pretty sure if he'd signed the announcement would come straight away.

It would be great to win the next 4

Don't worry we will win the next 4
and end up with pick 13 or so

The ironic thing is our weakness from last year--the midfield--is a strength now. The fact we are losing highlights the deficiencies with the forward line and connection with it. We need an additional power forward on top of King.

I like Angus Hastie, but bloody hell he'd better turn out to be some player to be worth picking instead of the already fantastic Shaun Mannagh and Joel Freijah, as well as Lawson Humphries, George Stevens, and Cooper Simpson.
I liked Freijah and wanted him in the draft, he’s a gun. Played 18 games this year and getting some commentators gushing over him.

Don't worry we will win the next 4
and end up with pick 13 or so
That would be great!

Winning games of footy is way better than losing them.

No doubt you're hoping for another shit year next year so we can get another low draft pick?

Maybe I would enjoy football more if I enjoyed the losses every week

Im not really saying its an issue, we are playing kids and showing plenty but im not sure the argument that we dont look like a bottom 3 team (when were 4th last) really stacks up personally.

I see the direction, i like the direction but were still 15th

how often do bottom 3 teams match it with some of the best teams in the competition? We nearly beat Collingwood a few weeks back, Hawks etc,

To me, a bottom 3 side isn't a chance against the top 8 teams. We've played like a bottom 3 side at times this year, but the last 5 or 6 weeks have looked much better than that.

Still, success is measured in winning. We'll finish where we deserve to finish when it's all finished this year.

And I don't buy that our fixture has more top 9 teams (top 9? What sort of silly metric is that) because of the AFL. The AFL have little idea who's going to be in the top 8 next year. It's like complaining they gifted Geelong an easy run home when they're facing two of the top 2 teams from last year.

It's just the way it works out, not worth complaining about. And definitely isn't proof the AFL is punishing the club. If the AFL wanted this club gone, it would happen. The AFL wants St Kilda to be competitive.

The season is way over for us so we’re playing and developing the young fellas which is great but will result in more losses. I’d like to see rtb also use this run to experiment a bit more strategically and positionally. Could be fun 🤩 and might unearth some gold. Now is the time to do it, we can’t do it round one when we’re in contention.

Ball use is why we lose games. It's actually really simple.

For all the years of “not another halfback flanker”, I actually think we need one now.

Nas is looking everybit the star mid we have been looking for. Sincs getting older and not looking quite as hungry as previous years. Hastie is unproven. The others are all defence first types, of which Webster is coming to the end, McLennan is likely delisted, O'Connell is a lockdown type.

Would have been great to have the foresight to take Tom McCarthy or Riley Bice in last years draft.

Fincher will come in. Is there any money all types we can look at?

There are so many money ball players in the VFL and state leagues. Mannagh had the highest game rating of any player apart from Nas yesterday. He was a VFL player a couple of years back too. I wanted us to go after him.

GWS and GC should be looked at as retaining grounds too. I'd love to get Madden out of GWS before TDK.

i reckon we trade wilson for whitlock (who I know nothing about) or someone that we rate before the rest of the footy world realise his limitations

(I said a similar thing re pou mid VFL stint last year and then he had back to back BOGs for us, Im not saying it was all due to my post, but occam's razor innit)

I'm not a massive fan of the Whitlocks. Both Faul and Shanahan were superior talents.

Fully fit We are better than west coast north Richmond and Essendon.

So, no I don’t think we look bottom 3.

You need your kids to develop and then usurp your poor kicks though.

You can’t or maybe at this stage of our development we can’t just plug in kids and expect them to deliver.

My perspective is that our best performed players most weeks are all 1-4 year players.
