Who is to say we don’t draft Smillie, Travaglia and Tauru ?

Anyway, it’s a pure hypothetical without knowing what picks you would actually have.

Point was more that, if we wanted 3 picks. Then they better all be in this years top 10 where we have control over the demand.
Smillie and Trav are unproven and Tauru looks elite at spoiling and marking but can't execute 15m passes in D50

And all are super highly rated and only 19 games into their careers.

No matter what outcome we get, unless it’s Butters coming back. We will be getting cents in the dollar or highly speculative stock.

I don’t think Nas value will get any higher than right now, if that is what Williams is doing surely he finalizes this week.

stavro#4 you giving him $2m a year for 2 years yet?
I’ll give him $2m a year for the next 10 years

With Port not having a first rounder, I've never been more desperate for a Caro story was more right in my life.

Remember when she said Nas had no interest in going to the crom because of Tex Walker? Everyone involved denied it but she still maintains its accurate.

In any case, can this Ben Williams guy stop treating this like an episode of Big Brother and just let Nas announce that he's staying.

Which incredibly still feels like unders
I don’t care overly for the $$

I care about the years.

Commit to us and write a cheque for whatever your agent wants.

This entire 2 year deal scenario is just kicking doomsday down the road and hoping we somehow avoid it.

If he wants 2 years we should give it, obviously we all want 10 but that’s not what he’s asking for.

If he wants 2 years at 2m are you doing it?

The absolute fan in me says yes. I don’t care about the money.

The member in me, wants a commitment that avoids doing this again in 2 years - because at that point I’m not sure we come away with nas signing up again.

Am I making sense to you?

I have a feeling that reaction was directed towards the manager rather than Nas himself. The comments from Dilena and RTB previously show they are getting pissed with the manager.
Right now the manager is playing it well.

Nas's price has sky-rocketed.

I dont have an issue with that level of money.

But if he wanted us to outlay that much, its over a much longer contract.

And Im not expecting us to contend in two years, so two years doesn't cut it.

So if he says I'll sign for 2 at 2mil .. take it or leave it...you'd say no?

Agreed.

I think it’s exciting to have a bloke this good. But it’s not just about the player. We support the club and negotiations should have a balance to them.

Give this club a significant commitment. Get significant money.

I’d sign and let port know to get their shit together in 2 years time. Because he won’t be staying any longer.

There is no commitment to the club in that negotiation. He is signing as the path he likely wants to go is impossible (getting to port now).

We keep hearing from the club the future is bright.

Let's back ourselves. If we are on the cusp of being a top 4 team in 2 years is he leaving?

Probably not.

So if he won't sign a long term deal we suck it up, give him the 2 years and work on becoming a great side the next 24 months.

If we are not playing finals by 27, then we deserve to have him walk.

If its only two years, surely you would be revisiting it in another 12 months.

This drag on is kinda unacceptable from an employer standpoint...

Still have a list to manage. Shit or get off the pot.

The money is surely there.

Yeh. I don’t agree with you, give the man what he wants.

But I do understand your point.

Said future includes Nas.

Losing him sets whatever projections fans and clubs have back.

Losing him at the end of 2027, sets us back 2 years immediately + whatever damage it does from that point on.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with saying, sure here is $2m but we want you here until UFA in 2031.

Absolutely this.

If he wants 2 years then do it.

If its a matter of proving that we are going somewhere then we have 2 years to prove it.

Hell, by this time next year we should have a better idea, if we arent on the upward trajectory this time next year. E.g still in the mix for that 8th spot

To be fair on week 155847 of does Nas sign or not...

All that happened between late last week when the word was four years was a performance for the ages, two straight bat interviews with the player in question and one piece of bad body language from the coach.

In short, a lot of not much.

If it’s a matter of proving we are going somewhere. Wouldn’t said deal include significant triggers to extend?

If all we get is a flat 2 year deal. Our fan base will celebrate and refuse to acknowledge what likely lies ahead.
