With all the differing angles and arguments for and against and whatever, I just can’t get away from Nas being the most exciting thing that’s happened to us in 15 years and if we were ever going to take a gamble on a high-stakes effort to retain a player, he’s the one. I think he’s leaving regardless but if he does, I hope it’s not because we didn’t try absolutely everything.
Someone said the club should do something crazy like fly his family down and back every second week. It might be insane, but if that’s what it takes. Buy them a house, give them jobs in Melbourne for all I care.

Gift someone in his family a large block of land outside of Melbourne, like what Geelong do.

They are offering $2 million a year for the next 2 years and we are $1.2 less over 2 years than them. If he does a permanent injury in his second year and never plays again he's just thrown away a house. You are being deliberately dishonest.

100%

not sure why Joff has decided to go down this path lately. one moment he's unhappy with the clubs position and is offering criticism of it. the next he's trying to shout down anyone who dare criticise it. its bizarre.

Just got intel from a Port fan. Strap yourselves in. Not an IDK by any standards, but said to prepare for Nas to leave, deal will be the last deal done of the trade period at the 11th hour, Saints will receive Bergman, Lord and a future 2nd

😂😂😂😂
Heard the same but there’s a swap of third round picks involved

It’s Riley beverage on gettable. He just said clubs he’s spoken to believe he’s now worth 2 million over the contract not $2 million front loaded. Port and Adelaide have both offered $2 million front loaded according to him, he also said people think port can do $2 million a year.

I sorry but I’m not going there and they will need to find a deal to make it happen. We need to put the acid on Nas and his manager, staying or going and if you’re leaving you better check your club of choice are willing to make it happen.

If port have to trade butters then so what, that could be made to work for us.
So he said clubs he has spoken to believe that and belief port could.

And that the offers are front loaded.

So that means they aren’t $2m a year. They are just paying $2m across the first 2 years and less thereafter.

Thats the only fact in what he said.

He was just a very good youngster until a breakout patch topped off with a boys own annual game last week.

He could play another 200 and nether win another after the siren let alone repeat anything like that game.

Surely we are doing everything we can to keep him.

It feels like the argument is going around in circles, no one knows the figures etc you can pretty much assume we'll throw everything we can at keeping Nas and hopefully it works out.

Port can get him to agree to go there but they still need to get a deal done so there's also that.

Caro has already reported we have lifted our offer. So evidently we haven’t done that.

Because there is no silver lining to losing Nas. There was what we now know is Tauru with Battle.

but we have right. why are we trying to come just below or above water level.

surely with someone as important as NAS or as important as Battle we go in and offer what it takes to keep them. not try and keep the it so damn tight that if the deal gets done we get a win out of it and chalk it down to good contract management.

part of list management is ensuring you retain the important pieces of the list that will get you in the 4 and have a shot at a flag.

meanwhile we are offering 2 years extensions to blokes who cant even keep up, in Clark. offering extensions to guys with a history of injury concerns in King. throwing more money at senior blokes near the ends of their career. then offering 1.8m a year to TDK.

so we have no ****ing issue going above and beyond to retain bits of the list or bring in new parts.

but when it comes to best player we have had since Goddard, we've decided to try and get all risky and conservative. its a ****ing joke.

Whilst nas is going on, we have Harley Reid asking for the same money you want to throw at Nas but a 10 year commitment.

A fact lost on many posters.

now do TDK

200k less than Reid and its not 10 years.

You have clearly never negotiated a thing in your life or you have been rinsed by everyone in deals you have done

“Here Mr Williams please take all the money to keep Nas here for 2 years. You’ll take a discount at the end of 2027 won’t you?… hello mr Williams? All I can hear is laughing… are you okay?” - Phantom

Or the likely outcome SOS and the club are working on.

We will give you X today and every year longer he signs for we will increase by Y.

Our X offer is more than what he will make over the deals in South Australia as you have put towards us and is a fair value of Nas to our club.

ever bought a house thats hot in demand. sometimes its better to come in with your best offer straight up to get the ****ing thing off the market. especially in a market thats rising by the month.

the smart move would have been to come in with significant overs last year and just wow'd him to the point he signed and we aren't even in this bullshit position this year.

instead we are trying to find the water level of the market and offer that. something where that water level keeps going up each month. its redic.

That’s not what he said, post it on here and everyone can judge it. I am doing other things but my hearing is fine.

Anyone who wants to listen it’s on gettable very early on.

Anything else, and he doesn’t come to st Kilda

right so

2m for NAS is bad because harley reid will be on 2m but he's going to make a 10 year commitment and NAS will only take 2

but offering 1.8m for TDK on a 7 year commitment is great!

you realise how redic this sounds.

If he’s worth 2 in 2 years then just pay him that.

Stavs missing that we have absolutely no sell to him other than money right now. In 2 years if we’re any good we can point that out and that we have to pay his mates to keep a premiership team together (plus we’ve hopefully gotten him over the homesick stage).

If he wants more and we’re still shit then trade him at that point when there’s far more options for trade deals.

a lot can change in 2 years time!

Another point to add is that if we cave in and meet Williams’ demands MONTHS out from the trade period, imagine how easy other players would think it is to squeeze STK of all their money

More and more player managers will begin to do this with our club

IF SOS really was planning on paying max value for NWM, never in a million years would he do it at this point in the season where the situation isn’t as desperate as people are making it out to be

not every player is NAS

there's players we should be prepared to lose. IMO NAS is not it. Windy IMO isn't it as i think there's potential there also gets NAS grounded.

the play from the weekend we are were fapping over involved NAS, Marshall and Windy in the middle and we are playing ****ing roulette with all three, dangling them in front of other clubs.

Club was wrong on Billings and Gresham and battle.

You all carried on and yet…. The club was right.

Battle is having an amazing year... how in the hell were they right.

Club re-signed Billing on huge ****ing overs when clubs were prepared to trade for him... then when Billings was shit they took a salary dump where we were still paying some of his contract. how in the absolute **** was that good list management?

Gresham was the right move correct. but i think people wanted him gone if i recall correctly.

The Prez started off the 40 years member night by saying that, doing everything they can.

I’m sure it didn’t start with paying a bloke $2m a season who couldn’t commit for the long term.

you don't remember brisbane rebuilding and offering crazy money to everyone and sundry?

you dont remember charlie cameron getting the offer way too good to refuse?

you dont remember the pathetic deal offered to a certain mid from collingwood who had substance issues?

how about the crazy money they offered their younger players to retain them given their player retention issues?

The only Gresh drama was some ****ing convoluted plan for Essendon to pay him enough for band 1 compo which we would then trade to Essendon.

Sounded like Dodoro cooked up watching his own draft day highlights.

No one really wanted to keep him, there’s probably still a debate about whether we “won” that cause his pick got us collard I think? But even if collard leaves it’s a break even at worst

Gonna have to be next Thursday for the big announcement. They’ve got a deal done, just delaying it because the club’s banker is on personal leave due to a sick pet.
Could do it Tuesday but Nas gets his haircut on the first Tuesday of every month and might be hard to squeeze in media ect.
It’s done though, next Thursday. Club just waiting.
