Who I think could look good in a Navy Blue jersey next year:

Sam Flanders (should be our number 1 target)
Buku khamis (younger replacement for JSOS with a better kick for goal)
Lachy Dovaston (our JSOS compo)
Aidan Schubert (Charlie replacement)
Harry Dean (temporary HOF replacement before pairing up together for the next 15 years)
Jack Ison (Eli Hollands replacement)
Flynn Riley (developing ruck)
Darcy Hogg (replacing Fogarty inside 50)

We need a decent wing to cover for acres, in fact, an upgrade would be nice. Binns or Cottrell or hollands or Camporeale could be it already but I’d love a ready made one.
Like that list, depending on eventualities.

Not desperate for Buku or Flanders, but both would be decent. Not sure Flanders woukd get too much mid time which is probably what he would move for. (More an Elijah replacement/upgrade who could play any third)

Think Schubert would be a great pick if indeed Charlie moves.

Dean, Ison, Riley absolutely. Reckon conservatism forces them to get a more mature ruck, hopefully as well, rather than instead of.

I like Hogg, but am not sure he shifts the dial. Doubt we part with our rookie small forwards, all have upside.

Mixed feelings on Dovaston. Byrne, late bolter Pickett or perhaps Hibbins-Hargreaves, Oudshoorn-Bennier or even Phillipou as forward leaning mids are all options worth consideration, perhaps even Mikunda with a little aerial X-factor as a small mid who could impact forward. There is of course an argument for a genuine small forward, however most high half forwards are pseudo mids these days.

Reckon Ison is a wing candidate, if Acres was to head west, the much debated veteran Treloar need serious consideration.

Any interest in Dylan Williams just delisted by Port?
Good ball user, drafted as a fwd but played as a defender and didn’t work out.
Port fan I’m friends with reckon he was unlucky to be let go.
Had a lot of liking for Williams forward on potential. Played mostly back in recent times. It is like there is a flaw somewhere. Due diligence needed, but maybe a chance if we have a rookie spot to spare, which may be unlikely.

The flaw is that he is too slow and not agile enough to play AFL. Which means as a defender he gets exploited and as a forward he can't put on enough pressure. Unfortunately don't think he will make it despite his obvious talent.

Players we should be targeting with out giving up to much draft capital to upgrade on sos

Jai serong 22yo - out of contract won't be getting a game for hawthorn any time soon, he's young and could be the future with hof and dean. shown some really good signs for boxhill winning there bnf in 2024

Jayden larvede 29yo - out of contract I know he looks bad at essendon but has been playing as a number 1, wouldn't be the worst option and should be able to hold he's own next to weitering as a mature player

Too slow to apply pressure as a small forward. Plays a lot like Fritsch up there but not as nimble.

Down back he used the ball extremely well as a rebounder but couldn't seem to get enough of the ball, I guess a bit similar to Boyd for us.

Still, always been a big fan since juniors. If he could improve his speed and tank he'd be a handy pick up for free.

If saints are now all in on sos.
Then id look at aleer as a possibility
Rather pick up Butts to free up Weitering to drop a few kgs and play CHB.

If we're looking for an athletic type Gray from the Tigs shows a bit and is up against about 10 other blokes for a spot down back. Looked good in his games this season though.

I like the idea of butts, I think he would cost to much in a trade need to play abit of money ball here with a tall back, we need A+ mids / small forwards / half back, all with speed. we need to be throwing our compensation picks for sos and tdk to fill this hole and with abit of a luck if we can pick up a butters and kaiden coleman and retain curnow, it's not all doom and gloom at ikon Park

To be fair I actually think Adelaide would let Butts go fairly cheap out of good will to him. Our Brisbane 2nd would be the most they'd ask for I'd think, but more likely to haggle it to a 3rd given he's spent most of the year in the SANFL.

Definitely a capable player, just stuck behind quality players in Worrell, Keane and Murray.

Speed and/or good foot skills. Feel like the speculated targeting of Treloar and Petch is intended to fill those needs and attempt to reshape our list to the modern style. Obviously we’ll require more players to down that route but hopefully we at steering in the right direction

With tdk comp at pick 9 and potentially another first rounder for sos austin should be moving heaven and earth to be bringing in a ready made A+ ball mover and speed don't worry about using those draft picks just find a way to match dean Gresham and ison still getting young talent in

Can't believe I'm saying this, but ...

I'm starting to lean towards trading Charlie and keeping Harry.
Both are Injury prone ... at least keeping both ... one is out and we still have the other.
We need a 3rd option plus medium/smalls to cover in future finals. Definitely need a Plan B.

I'm guessing Harry is only about 3 Head knocks/concussions away from the AFL considering a forced retirement.
Harry is like Benny Brown from North ... can't handle the physical knocks.

I'm not sure Carlton can rely on either of them at crucial times eg finals

Seems pretty emphatic RE Charlie. No ambiguity, no leaving doors ajar, no BS. Fans like me will flippantly say "if he wants out, move him on". I think as a coach, if you have a player like Charlie at your disposal, you are fighting tooth and nail to keep him and appease any concerns he might have. I'd say if it's up to Vossy, Charlie isn't going anywhere (whether they get along or not).

Carlton would be better to target young Players who find it difficult to get a game because their team is full of Top Quality Players in their preferred positions. Being young they can bloom when given an opportunity.

If Austin wants older top up Players go find out who the geriatric specialists have their eyes on.
No team does better than Geelong for value for money on that front.

Forget about Injury prone rejects from bottom 8 Clubs who only have a season or 2 left in them .. they'd be looking for a pension cheque and probably spend time just padding out our Injury list in 2026.
Don’t mind the look of that Jack Martin fella..!

Serong was talked about last off-season but you’d think will def be on the move along with Frosty.

Laverde was linked with us last year, would have to be an UFA at that age? Already met with GWS by all reports.
