Holding Trac when he wanted out didn’t work for Melbourne - he’s worth a lot less to them now than he was last year.

Sydney moved on from Daniher after a failed attempt to land him too. Can’t see much that could make Charlie’s value go up when he’s a year older, but plenty of things can make his value go down.

I’ve got no doubt that his manager is feeding the media exaggerated stories to try dynamite him out. But he’s not doing this without Charlie’s approval. Looks like he genuinely wants to move and has authorised the manager to do what it takes to make it happen.

Didn't work out for Trac's manager either. Take it as you will.

Daniher is irrelevant. He was a year from FA.

If the core group is no longer what it's cracked up to be, how can we hope to rectify that in the short term?
By bringing in quality players to give these blokes some hope and help and its not just them or bust, bringing in youth is great but to a extent, we probably have 3 more years to have a genuine crack at it, we have invested to much into this group to just give up now

Someone said in a previous post that Charlies manager IS Trac's manager.
So same crappy tactics i guess.

Didn’t work out for the manager, didn’t work out for the player, didn’t work out for the club.

Daniher was supposedly worth two first picks, they lost him a year later for one compo pick. Sydney could have picked him up as a free agent, but chose not to offer him the big dollars again after another year spent injured.

A lot can change in 12 months. Not saying that we give him away this year, but if it’s a deal we like, you don’t hold a player who doesn’t want to be there thinking you’ll get an even better deal next year.

The club is clearly using the media to posture and position themselves to get the best possible deal.

Walsh has already revealed the club's true stance on players who want to leave. Curnow will not be at Carlton in 2026.

Caro has nailed this story from the start. The fact that she’s now reporting Curnow is willing to take less money just to get out says it all.

This situation explains so much. Charlie's poor on-field efforts. His attitude. Form. And if you've got a "leader" exhibiting these traits on the field, I can only imagine what things have been like at the club this year.

Errol Gulden. Max Holmes. Matt Rowell. There's my wishlist.

Curnow's manager is so unprofessional feeding the media .
Carlton's position is clear he will not be leaving no postering at all, almost everyone can be traded for a price, reality is that it will take a exceptional offer whether that is top 5 draft picks or a quality player to pull off a deal, it is unlikely to happen.

Curnow is not a leader should never have been part of the leadership group.

As much as we dislike it, he's essentially trying to create a wedge between the club and player such that the club feels it's irreconcilable. The club will attempt to ignore the noise but they'll be under pressure.
New guy Davies went through it last year with Houston. Wonder what his learnings were?

My view is that Curnow’s manager lost Brand Petracca (C) last year presumably at least partially because he couldn’t leverage him out of Melbourne. He’s going to move heaven and earth to leverage Charlie out of Carlton.

The good news is that as Ace says above, we hold the cards because Charlie is contracted. That then means the manager is also going to be doing all he can behind the scenes to motivate whoever is the chosen suitor to pony up.

Essentially he's a flog.

You'd never see this sort of stuff from a living hero Francis Evans when he inevitably goes into player management with his filthy mustache.

D'Orazio couldn't get Trac out of Melbourne even after threats to go the legal route and essentially take the Dees to court over not trading him.

He's going to have to go genuinely nuclear to top that circus from last year.

You are right, Walshie. Hopefully the thing he has learnt is how to motivate the suitor to pay the price. He’s got the whole “agitate so my client can leave” schtik down pat. It’s the other side of the equation he needs to sort out.

We can forget about 'smart' trades and top four. At the moment I'm getting 'spite' vibes; that we are soldiering on to try and prove we are not quite the basket case many think we are, Sustained success means a step backwards and that's just too much of a hard sell.
It’s pretty clear the club is doing exactly that. Not blindly matching TDK, offering JSOS what he’s worth, also playing as many games into kids as we did this year.

What possible spite would GW be holding onto? He’s brand new with a license to bring change - culturally, organisationally & performatively.

I can’t see the club selling us anything yet.
