By all account the ankle stuff should be all good now they finally took action after the last re lapse.
That's what my colleague was saying. They went the nuclear option. It knocked him out pretty much all season but by all accounts it's worked and he wants to get home and put it behind him and get into it. Hopefully he holds up.

Is annoying when you dont get much out of a highish draft pick and they then go and play OK footy else were, although rest assured it is the exception not the norm.I will reserve judgement re good bad or indifferent selection till I see good games of footy consistently out of him.

Hollands different end of spectrum body fine but loose as. If you picked him up and got his head right is a game changer but hasn't worked at 2 clubs, a 3rd club will be seduced by the potential like we were but prior performance is the biggest indicator of future performance and all that. Good luck if you go down that route, no lack of talent that's for sure.

Also. You Carlton lads and ladies (and theysies) are real chill. Might come and visit throughout the off season.

Big love. 💙

The draft is not poor. It just has a F/S and NGA players that are high up in the rankings. So that will push many teams' picks lower.

Every draft has good players. Name me a draft that doesn't.

We really need good young elite talent now. Why delay the mini-rebuild one more year when you can do it now? "Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today" as the saying goes.

Who knows if we add in some good young players to compliment our list then we may still be in the window? If not then we wait for Cody and he will save us.

Every draft has good players but 2018 had probably 1 or 2 but 2018 had 15-20. That is a vast difference in your likelihood of landing one.

I'd be going all out for Ben King as a free agent next year.

I get he would have a big say in picking the capt, but is the leadership group more a player vote?

I’d think we’d fill some depth needs with.
Trade
Buku
Fritsch
Chesser

DFA
Petrucelle
Blight

Draft
Best Available
Dean
Ison
Riley/Harding

Gresham (CatB)

Reidy - seriously WTF Carlton

If we trade Curnow then we can go for an elite player.
Can we really afford to trade Curnow ?
So when Harry is out who’s gonna kick our goals ?
We have the twin towers now.
What about when we have none ?
We averaged 11 goals per game this season. Hope everybody is happy when Charlie is gone and we smashing out 6 goals a game !

My thoughts as well.

If Charlie goes this year, we bring in as much class across the park as we can as well as picks for 2026 for Cody. With the money we save in the salary cap next year, put it in front of Ben King and try to get him back to Victoria

Chesser confirmed, talk of Sholl and our chase of HBs with speed and foot skills.

Where does that leave Ollie?
Has some really good traits, though his lack of strength, peripheral vision and foot skills, let him down at times.

Knows how to kick a goal maybe HF?
For mine this is good as it should allow Ollue to play where he should always have been played and that being wing. He is not a HBF. My biggest issue has been the persisting with players out of position for whatever reason. Maybe this is the righting of that. I rate Hollands, however a kicking coach over summer might be a novel idea!

Can definitely see him playing that loose/attacking HB role that we need

Chesser has certainly got speed. Petruccelle also quick. Jiath (if that is true) is another.

The club definitely showing their hand in terms of what they think has been holding us back.

I feel like they've been trying to address this for about 3 years though.

Hopefully Saad finds a bit more of his old dash and Billy Wilson comes good as he's got some real spark.

If we can find 22 blokes with elite kicking skills I'll be even happier.

Not sure how to solve this problem though with Walsh + Cerra being terrible kicks and playing starting midfield and therefore getting a lot of the ball. Recruiting forward pocket, flankers, etc. aint gonna fix that problem.

Maybe Jagga (who I'm hoping turns out to be an amazing kick) pushes Cerra to the VFL leaving only Walsh as the liability?

I think that putting Ollie back has helped with his defensive work TBH. If he team mates didn't burn him when he's an acre in the clear, he'd be doing a lot better.

Would it be a reasonable idea to have another look at Angus Schumacher? He's grown another 3cm and looks to have filled out well. It also looks as if he's actually finished maturing as a footballer and has a 3rd place in the Sandover and an equal 7th in the Magarey after 18 games this year.

His defensive work has definitely improved.
The thing that he needs to work on is moving the ball on quicker. He nearly always thinks he can break a tackle and gets caught too often and can't release. It stops a lot of our chains. Don't see him as a half back going forward as we have Cowan, Carroll, Wilson, Charleson, Newman, Saad. Depending on trade week I think a move back to the wing might eventuate. Having flexibility is handy though.
