Apologies for any inconvenience. We will try to find a replacement.
Donāt know much about him, but can he also push up the ground as a possible mid rotation as well?Knows where the goals are
Hollands is rated higher than he should be because he replaced Lochie O'Brien who was was not "up to AFL standard on a consistent basis" and he looks like a Group 1 performer in comparison. Compared to Holmes and Dempsey he doesn't look that flash.I pointed to data in which he was above avg in nearly every stat and tackling was elite this season. Way up on last season.
I also stated the options we have in each position.
He also earned more votes in B&F on second half of the year than the first
These are facts
Opinion is whether his best spot is wing or hb and can he get better
If you look at what we have an recruited, if many of Chesser, Florent, Ollie, Wilson, Lucas, Carroll, Cottrell, Charleson, Ison can step up we all of a sudden have options around the flanks. We have run
Add this to a fit Walsh, Moir, Lord and Jagga in the middle. It's a completely different look and style

I love his work rate and effort, but what we need from a winger is elite gap filling/coverage on defence and maximum damage coming back the other way and by those metrics he is currently a middle of the road footballer. Until he overhauls his skills and takes them to the next level, we are only seeing effort and not damage!

Hollands will never match players like Holmes & Dempsey. I think his ceiling is a player like Ed Langdon from Melbourne.Hollands is rated higher than he should be because he replaced Lochie O'Brien who was a complete dud and he looks like a Group 1 performer in comparison. I would expect him to be a decent AFL 200 gamer but i don't ever see him being as good as Gulden for example.Give it 3-5 years, Ollie will be the best wingman in the AFL. Bookmark this.

Yep, this is where development is key. If we cannot improve Ollie year on year, then that's sits as much with the coaching.Hollands will never match players like Holmes & Dempsey. I think his ceiling is a player like Ed Langdon from Melbourne.
100% and it's been a massive issue for last decade or more. Worst development in the league. We don't even work on basic skills. I know clubs that spend pre season with 1-3 year players mostly working on basic skills. We just let them train with main group.Yep, this is where development is key. Be able to kick to advantage
Quicker decision making/awareness - not getting caught holding the ball
Learn to be able to disguise a kick
Learn to to punch a short pass
Improve tackling
Even as I write this I think, its not rocket science.
Sorry to rain on the try hard parade..If Ollie Hollands is a top 10 player for us we are in a world of pain.Ollie Hollands would be well down the list of concerns. Heās got a great attitude, and I have no doubt heāll do everything possible to reach his potential. You could compare any wingman to Holmes or Dempsey and few would stack up. Hollands definitely has some areas to refine, but in my view heās tracking in the right direction to become a solid top-10 player for us.

Canāt say it enough but thatās his spot. Runs both ways, runs and carries, gets involved in overlaps and can do it all day!!Hi all,
I rarely disagree with you Soap but I do on Ollie and Half Back. If you look at most premiership teams, they have generals and elite ball users on the Half Back line. Whether it be McLeod, Hodge, Dale, Wanganeen Milera, etc they all have great disposal and set up play. They even kick goals.
I canāt see Ollie being that player. He is a wingman through and through.
Our half backs are a bit of an issue as outside of Florent (who we canāt judge yet) and a fit Saad, we are pretty weak in this area.

Every team in the AFL knew to clear out the forward line and take LOB down one on one, certain goal!Garbage from you Coach B ...
FYI, LOB is related to Soap but that's beside the point.
Next time, just do the comparison to Holmes and Dempsey!
Totally agree, but this applies to the whole side. We have some really good kids coming through and if we can develop them, we may turn the corner quicker than expected.Yep, this is where development is key. If we cannot improve Ollie year on year, then that's sits as much with the coaching.

Lets be clear, you have to be a high level athlete and individual to get and stay on an AFL list, but we are trying to get to premiership level so some of the assessments by definition need to be blunt.
Yep, that is the problem. Ollie is an AFL standard footballer and is getting better every year but he is still a little unpredictable and lacks polish. No issue at all. Everyone has a right to an opinion and you may well be right
I haven't said Ollie will be a gun HB or even Wing. My comments are about how he has gone so far and what may happen.
I don't know how he will finish or where. I just will never write off a kid or that they can't improve
At the moment I have NO IDEA how it will all pan out.
Hollands is not taking us to the top 4 unless he dramatically improves his skill and impact, agree worth persevering with on the wing, is not a defender at all! He either goes to the next level or gets overtaken by others.WTF has that got do with your comments?
And BTW, everyone on here is entitled to an opinion, even if you don't agree.WTF has that got do with your comments?

Where is the abuse ?????Where have I said different? I just don't support abuse
Where is the abuse ?????
I donāt think you can judge whether Ollie is a top 4 wingman yet. We forget how young he is. We have all seen the footage of him in the gym. He is a dedicated kid and much more professional than his brother. My punt is that Ollie becomes a seriously reliable player as his craft develops.Hollands is not taking us to the top 4 unless he dramatically improves his skill and impact, agree worth persevering with on the wing, is not a defender at all!
