WC are going hard for Warner. I know this.
Cox saying today that he has a close relationship with Warner and is confident of getting him to stay. The old fashioned shoot out between Cox at Sydney and his old club.
I don’t know what Freo are up to but poster (I think it was Jammo) mentioned that Pickett was over here recently (prob that Indigenous carnival) and met with Freo again. Twomey mentioned today that Pickett was up until the end of trade period having discussions with Freo. I’d say we’d be all over this like a rash. Then there is the addition of Narkle who has links to Pickett.
I think with the way our midfield is shaping up that Pickett is an ideal fit for our team. Two young key forwards developing nicely along with LJ there will be plenty of opportunities for him as a small forward.
Ideal situation at this point for me is Warner staying at Sydney and Kozzie coming here. I’ve cooled on Warner quite a bit but the thought of him Playing for wc makes me sick
I wonder if all this smoke with Warner to WC is because we prefer Kozzie to Warner or Warner has chosen his preferred club being WC. Make them pay through their teeth.
Might be crazy but I rather Pickett over Warner.

I had the feeling that maybe Fremantle had cooled a fair bit on Warner pre trade and draft.
We used our early selections to build, when most thought that they would use them to lure him to Freo.
I am not sure that Freo have the artillery to stop the Yellas.

I think almost everyone would agree Pickett is a better fit even if Warner is a better player.
It'll be interesting to see if/how a change of coaching impacts Sydney and Warner's plans. They're still a reasonably young squad from memory and could be thereabouts for a while yet. The draw to come home might be considerably weaker if West Coast are the only viable destination given the state of their list. You can mount a pretty compelling case that they've not bottomed out yet.
Then again, the size of the contract they'll throw at him might override everything else and justifiably so. Gotta grab the bag when it's there.

Either Warner or Pickett to Freo would be awesome.
As you say, Warner is the better player however Pickett is also a seriously good player who would fill a specific need for Freo.

Exactly. Midfield isn’t a necessity. Pickett would transform the club more than Warner.
Plus Sydney can ask for 3 first rounders from West Coast, which is very juicy given if they finish 15-18th. It’s almost a regeneration for the list. Looking at pick 1-6 depending.
It’ll be a Kelly like trade all over again. These trades has a potential to ruin a club’s rebuild. Surely West Coast would tread carefully

It would explain prioritising Reid over Berry as well, if we’ve switched our attention to Pickett instead of Warner.

Would love to get Pickett if Warner stays at Sydney. Him going to West Coast could fast track them
Three years down the bottom resulting in 1 x top 5 pick then 2 years of first rounders for Warner.....if Warner goes to WC the Devils will play finals before the Eagles make the 8 again.

Why would we bring in a player that won't be our best player, to stop him going to a team lean on talent where he would be their best player? That's cutting off your nose territory

Spot on. Our only interest in Warner now assuming Brayshaw stays is to drive up the price for WC.
Warner's not worth $1.2M a season to Freo.

He's still going to be a gun for Freo if we have him and it would be a struggle for an opposition midfield to bat as deep.
I reserve the right to return to believing Warner to be a ball burning, faster version of Serong who kicks goals as the spare man ahead of the ball if he goes to WC.

Personally I think itd be hilarious if they torched their rebuild chasing a gun like Warner. Trading three firsts for a player when you havent even got a shell of a team, knowing there will be years of Tassie compromised drafts ahead..... as much as id love Chad (disclaimer: id prefer Pickett) a large piece of me hopes he does go to WC and torpedoes that rebuild. The clowns will be a laughing stock for longer than the decade they are already on track for.

Harley is contracted to 2026. If they can get the Chad they'll do it and hope that convinces Reid to stay.
But on the open market Reid is only worth a little bit more than Warner. No player is worth 4 x top 10 picks as you're suggesting.
