Has the club offered him another contract at this time? They've extended other players contracts but not Jordan Butts, not even any talk of an offer on the table.
Probably not ....but you'd imagine extension talks are currently happening

Why would you say that, with Smith and maybe tex off our list, the average age of our list would be one of the youngest in the league? We brought in Draper last year, Curtin the year before - both top rated 1st round picks

2025 AVERAGE AGE PER TEAM

Collingwood – 28.7
Geelong – 26.9
Brisbane – 26.6
Sydney – 26.3
Western Bulldogs – 26
Melbourne – 26
Carlton – 26
Hawthorn – 25.9
Adelaide – 25.8
Port Adelaide – 25.5
Greater Western Sydney – 25.5
Gold Coast – 25.4
St Kilda – 25.3
Richmond – 25
Fremantle – 24.9
North Melbourne – 24.8
Essendon – 24.8
West Coast – 24.6
Tex on his own, is contributing 0.5 above the average by being in his team. Replace him and we're down with the Saints for age.

Replace Smith as well and we're down around Richmond and Freo. Text playing again though. Smith for Draper in the team should put us around 8th youngest or so. Depends who we field I guess.

I don't reckon we'll find players much better than Borlase in the rookie draft.

Why not?

He was pick 23 in a rookie draft and is shit.

I would say there is a decent chance we rind someone better.

Maybe slightly better at best, which would be a Cody Curtin type by the sounds of things

We have seen his Ceiling. its shit. lets bring in a player with a high floor.

With it looking like Elijah Holland isn't getting any interest from other AFL clubs and perhaps Carlton paying him out and delisting him a real possibility, should that happen could we offer him the chance to train with us over the pre-season with a view to picking him up as a SSP before the February deadline if he knuckles down and puts his past issues hehind him?

Isn't more likely Clubs know Hollands will get delisted, and are just sitting back for a DFA ?

I doubt Carlton want anything more than him moved on and ideally, with his wage being covered by someone else. Delisting him means paying out most or all of his remaining contract. That'd be all that they'd be trying to avoid.

Which is why Clubs are probably sitting back ....puts a bit of $$$$ pain on CARL ...then any prospective Club can set a "cheap as chips" new 12 Month Contract for Hollands ......or more likely rookie him

If you trade for Hollands, it would require him going on the main list, with a min 2 year Contract

IMO Jacob Blight would compare very very favourably with Borlase both athletically and size wise, same age and IMO better depth than Borlase. He'll be abvailable as a rookie option.

Why would the contract need to be extended if he's traded? It's only selecting in the main draft that it's a minimum 2 year contract. We'd be under no obligation to extend his deal, we'd only be required to honor what's already there.
