Bergman is very good, too. Not the offensive weapon that NWM is, but is a great two-way defender

Top 10 ish crows players rating (apologies if posted already) of the 700 ish total players listed. Top 10 overall in the AFL led by Cripps 95 and players tied for 7-11th had a 91 ranking.

He’s not a highlights reel player (ala Rankine and Rachele) but he is a fire and brimstone midfielder who gets the job with blunt strength and determination. Third in the B&F. Needs to hone some of his kicking efficiency (55%) and his cleanness but he just tries his heart out. 2024 rating: 63

Not a bad idea signed ROB for 2 more. Doesn’t mean he’s the number one ruck for the next 3 years, and we should still and will still go after another ruck, but it just means if we get someone better we at least know we have a ready man ruck that can play running around in the 2’s rather than having to use ruckman that aren’t of afl standard. In saying that, I’m optimistic to what McAndrew can do and Toby Murray seems to be working his way up. And tbh Fog and Curtain forward, this is an unpopular opinion but I would love to see Thilthorpe go beast mode in the ruck. Glass half full about our ruck situation.

Might be time to start focusing on and putting some serious feelers out for Brisbane's SA/WWT Forward/Ruck Henry Smith (contracted 2026) given even though Joe Daniher is gone and Chris Fagan seems to still prefer the fast approaching 32 yo Darcy Fort? All the hard work development already done?

Hard to work out why Fagan is persevering with both Fort as back up ruck/depth and Sam Day as KPF back up/depth when they've put 4 years into Henry Smith's development who was a 70kg beanpole Forward/ruck when they drafted him and last year weighed in at 98kg and looks even bigger this season.

Both good additions. I suspect Peatling will be the better long-term pick, I really like his defensive contested work and his agility. Could add some polish but he'll fit great in the middle. I don't think Cumming moves the needle as much, but his size should see him become an important down-the-line outlet and a good spare in d50.

Had a restricted preseason due to shoulder surgery hence why he wasn't up for selection in round 1 apparently.
Was in their bests in the VFL trial game against the Suns last week.

I felt this was part of a mixed strategy
Getting Thilly in the middle ( RoB on the pine) allowed Curtin to sit in the middle of Tex and Fogarty in the forward area
I thought it was interesting and wonder how long this will happen given RoBs supposed endurance - or again it could be a long term keep RoB fresh while working RT into the game
